Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Victor Bolden had a team-high five catches for 66 yards in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, with his longest reception going for 23 yards. Bolden was able to command nine targets after seeing just one in the preseason opener last week. Despite a solid showing, the 27-year-old faces an uphill climb to get any playing time during the regular season. With DeAndre Hopkins, Marquise Brown, Rondale Moore, and A.J. Green locked into significant roles, there aren't enough targets to go around should Bolden even crack the Arizona roster. He is well off the fantasy radar for the 2022 season.
The Arizona Cardinals signed USFL standout wide receiver and championship-game MVP Victor Bolden to an undisclosed one-year deal on Friday. Bolden is a former undrafted free agent from Oregon State who began his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, mostly returning kicks on special teams. In his two years in the league with San Fran and the Buffalo Bills in 2018, he only caught one of four targets for 10 yards. Bolden excelled in the USFL in the spring, though, recording 42 catches for 415 yards and one touchdown in nine games. The 27-year-old will mostly contribute on special teams, though, as he tries to win a roster spot with Arizona this summer.
The San Francisco 49ers activated wide receiver Victor Bolden from the suspended list to the active roster and promoted defensive lineman Ryan Delaire from the practice squad while waiving safety Tyvis Powell and offensive guard Najee Toran in corresponding moves on Saturday. While this might not be good news for Marquise Goodwin, who is questionable for Week 5 against the Cardinals, it might also be in response to Dante Pettis being out this weekend. Either way, Goodwin is a shaky WR4/flex play while injured and with quarterback C.J. Beathard running the offense.
