The Dallas Cowboys have signed defensive back Xavier Rhodes to their practice squad. The former first round pick joins Dallas after only playing in two games with the Buffalo Bills this season. He won't be active for Week 18, but could be added to the roster when the postseason begins. This is a nice pickup for Dallas who has already lost two defensive backs in Anthony Brown and Jourdan Lewis. The three-time Pro Bowl defensive back should be able to contribute to this roster.
The Buffalo Bills are signing veteran free-agent cornerback Xavier Rhodes to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday night, according to sources. The former All-Pro will help an injury-depleted secondary and will also reunite with defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, who was Rhodes' head coach with the Minnesota Vikings in 2013. Cornerbacks Dane Jackson (neck) and Christian Benford (hand) are injured and All-Pro Tre'Davious White (knee) remains on Injured Reserve for at least another week. Buffalo is also hurting at safety, with Jordan Poyer (foot) sitting out in the Week 3 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Micah Hyde (neck) is done for the year. Rhodes will provide valuable veteran depth in the short term.
The Buffalo Bills are hosting veteran free-agent cornerback Xavier Rhodes on a visit on Tuesday, according to a source. The Bills are extremely banged up in their secondary after the first three weeks of the season, so they could use some veteran experience and depth. Cornerbacks Dane Jackson (neck) and rookie Christian Benford (hand) are injured and Tre'Davious White (knee) remains on Injured Reserve. Safety Micah Hyde (neck) is done for the year and safety Jordan Poyer (foot) was inactive in the Week 3 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Rhodes, 32, was a former first-rounder for the Minnesota Vikings back in 2013, but he'd merely be a short-term stopgap at the position for Buffalo. He played in 13 games last year for the Colts and had 39 tackles (32 solo), an interception, seven passes defensed and a fumble recovery.
Xavier Rhodes, Andrew Sendejo In Concussion Protocol
Indianapolis Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes and safety Andrew Sendejo are both in the league's concussion protocol following their Week 5 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night, according to head coach Frank Reich. Defensive back Rock Ya-Sin (ankle) also missed Monday's game, so Indy's secondary could be dangerously thin for a Week 6 date with the Houston Texans. In three games this year, Rhodes has eight solo tackles and a pass defensed. Sendejo has moved into a starting role the last two games with Khari Willis dealing with a groin injury. Willis was eased back into action on Monday night, though, so he could return to a starting role if Sendejo isn't cleared before Sunday.
Indianapolis Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes (calf) did not practice on Friday and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. The Colts defensive unit has potential to be a weekly starting option for fantasy managers, but their matchup out of the gate is a tough one. Seattle's offense took a nosedive in the second half of last season after a strong start, but they still have quarterback Russell Wilson and plenty of firepower with receivers D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Bopete Keyes or Kenny Moore should take over across from Rock Ya-Sin. Rhodes' absence shouldn't be overlooked for a secondary that will be vulnerable against one of the better receiver duos in the league. Fade the Colts defense in DFS.
The Indianapolis Colts are signing former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday. Rhodes made the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career in 2019, finishing with a career-high 63 tackles (54 solo), six passes defensed and one forced fumble in 15 games with the Vikes. The former first-round pick (25th overall) in the 2013 draft has 10 career interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), but he has just one in the last two seasons. Rhodes is entering his age-30 season in 2020, but he can still provide effective defense if he can stay on the field.
The Minnesota Vikings are releasing cornerback Xavier Rhodes on Friday, according to a source. Rhodes was named to his third Pro Bowl in 2019, but he failed to record an interception while racking up 63 tackles (54 solo) and only six passes defensed. The former first-team All-Pro in 2016 hasn't been as good in the last two seasons, but he should latch on elsewhere for a cornerback-needy team such as the Raiders, Eagles or Redskins.
Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said that cornerback Xavier Rhodes (hamstring) will not be limited in practice this week and will be a full-go for Week 14 against the Seahawks in a game with big playoff implications. It's great news for the Vikes in a must-win game. Rhodes will likely match up with Seahawks wideout Doug Baldwin, making Baldwin a low-ceiling WR3 in an offense that hasn't been throwing the ball much this year.
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes (hamstring), who is questionable for Week 13 against the Patriots, will work out before the game to determine whether he can play, according to a source. Rhodes was able to practice late this week and is expected to give it a go. If he's active, he'll likely be covering Patriots receiver Josh Gordon for most of the game. That'd be a slight downgrade for Gordon, who has boom-or-bust potential as a WR3.
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes (hamstring) sat out of practice on Wednesday with a right hamstring injury, but head coach Mike Zimmer is hopeful that Rhodes will be able to play in Week 13 against the Patriots. Rhodes had to be helped off the field in Week 12, but his injury is considered minor. Rhodes is the team's top corner, so losing him for any amount of time would have been significant.
