The New England Patriots released offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste last week. Cajuste was originally taken in the third round (101st overall) in 2019 by New England out of the University of West Virginia. The 27-year-old has only played in two NFL seasons (2021 and 2022) after missing his first two years in the league due to injury. The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder played in seven games and made two starts at right tackle in 2021. Last year, Cajuste played in 10 games for the Patriots and made three starts at right tackle. He will now look to catch on with another organization as offensive-line depth.
New England Patriots offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste signed his restricted free-agent tender on Wednesday that is worth $2.743 million. Cajuste will return to New England for a third season after playing in 10 games (three starts) for the Patriots in 2022 in his second NFL season. He was forced to miss seven games last year due to thumb and calf injuries, but he should be fully healthy for the start of 2023. The 27-year-old former third-round pick in 2019 out of West Virginia is the team's top backup option at the tackle positions.
New England Patriots offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste (quadriceps) is healthy and ready to finally step on the field in 2020. The third-round pick from the 2019 NFL draft landed on Injured Reserve and missed his entire rookie year. The 24-year-old could actually see significant playing time after the Patriots failed to add much depth at offensive tackle this offseason. Cajuste is projected to be the backup left tackle to Isaiah Wynn. However, if Marcus Cannon or Wynn go down, then Cajuste is likely going to be asked to step up. There is a good chance he gets involved as a rotational player if he plays well during the preseason. It all depends on how Cajuste plays coming off quad surgery last season, but his presence will be good news for the team's offensive line depth.
