Zack Martin Agrees To Reworked Contract

The Dallas Cowboys and Zack Martin agreed to a reworked contract on Friday, opening up approximately $13 million in cap space. The deal converts $16.25 million of his 2024 salary into a signing bonus and adds one void year to his contract. The nine-time Pro Bowler and nine-time All-Pro has been called for just seven holding penalties and eight false starts through the first 152 games of his career, and he's been one of the most important pieces of the modern Cowboys team. The Cowboys were are now out of the negatives in cap space ahead of 2024 free agency, which begins next week.

Zack Martin Questionable To Return On Sunday

Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Zack Martin (quadriceps) is questionable to return on Sunday against the Bills. The veteran was able to walk to the sideline on his own, which is a good sign. However, it wouldn't be an ideal scenario for Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and the rest of the Cowboys offense if Martin doesn't return. Undrafted rookie T.J. Bass entered the contest to fill the void.

Zack Martin Gets In Full Practice Session

Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Zack Martin (thigh) was a full participant during Thursday's practice. It's good to see Martin back on the field after he sat out of Wednesday's session. Head coach Mike McCarthy said his absence on Wednesday was largely due to rest purposes. The six-time All-Pro should be back on the field for the Week 5 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Martin is a significant piece on this offensive line, so having him healthy is a good thing for Dallas.

Zack Martin Returns To Practice

Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Zack Martin (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. Martin left the team's Week 2 win over the New York Jets with an ankle injury, but it appears that he'll have a chance to suit up this Sunday when the team faces the Cardinals in Arizona. The 32-year-old veteran could still draw a questionable tag for this weekend's game on Friday's final injury report. If Martin is unable to get the green light to suit up on Sunday, either Chuma Edoga or T.J. Bass would get the start for Martin at right guard.

Zack Martin Restructures Deal, Ends Holdout

The Dallas Cowboys and All-Pro offensive guard Zack Martin reached an agreement on a restructured deal on Monday that will allow Martin to end his holdout in training camp and return to the team. Martin will now make $18 million in each of the next two seasons as one of the best guards in the league. The 32-year-old veteran former 16th overall pick in 2014 out of Notre Dame has made the Pro Bowl in eight of his nine NFL seasons and has also been an All-Pro six times for the Cowboys. Martin's return at camp is excellent news for quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Tony Pollard and the entire Cowboys offense heading into the 2023 regular season in early September.

Zack Martin Holdout Showing No Signs Of Ending

Dallas Cowboys six-time All-Pro offensive guard Zack Martin has been holding out as he demands a salary closer to the top of the position. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shows no interest in giving it to him. Jones told reporters he treats Martin's absence as he would treat any other absence that might happen due to injury. "There are huge, significant ramifications happening here by anybody's measure, financially. So you realize that not having him here, it could happen (via injury) on the next play. You got to put that one on and say you just move on here without him. You say that sounds like a concern," he said. Martin earned a PFF grade of 72.8 last season, the ninth-highest amongst guards, and his absence would cause a downgrade to a consensus top-ten offensive line.

Zack Martin Fails To Report To Start Of Training Camp

Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin did not report to the start of Dallas Cowboys training camp Tuesday. The elite offensive lineman has been unhappy with the organization's lack of willingness to give him a raise, so this could be an extended holdout worth monitoring. Martin is an eight-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro selection but has an average salary that ranks ninth among all offensive guards ($14 million.) In all likelihood, Martin is looking to get closer to what Atlanta Falcons guard Chris Lindstrom ($20.5 million) and Indianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson ($20 million) are making on a per-season basis. Martin's absence would leave a major hole in an aging Cowboys offensive line unit that could negatively impact Dak Prescott and Tony Pollard.

Zack Martin Considering Holdout

Dallas Cowboys six-time All-Pro offensive guard and team captain Zack Martin is considering not reporting to training camp due to his unhappiness with his contract and the team's lack of interest in restructuring it, according to sources. Martin thinks he is "woefully underpaid relative to the market." The 32-year-old offensive lineman is scheduled to make roughly $7 million less this year than the league's top-paid guards. He signed a six-year, $84 million deal with Dallas in 2018. Martin has been one of the best guards in the NFL and has missed just one game in the last two years. The former 16th overall pick by Dallas in 2014 has made the Pro Bowl in eight of his nine seasons in the NFL.

Zack Martin Tests Positive For COVID, Out Week 1

Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Zack Martin has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not play in the regular-season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys placed the All-Pro Bowl guard on the reserve/ COVID-19 list Sunday. He becomes the first player this season to be ruled out for a game after testing positive. His absence only hurts QB Dak Prescott and the Cowboys' offense. Connor McGovern will start in Martin's place in Week 1. The 30-year-old's next chance to return will be Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Rashawn Slater Being Compared To Zack Martin

Northwestern offensive tackle Rashawn Slater is being compared to Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl offensive guard Zack Martin. Both players are roughly 6-foot-4, 310 pounds with 33-inch arms, and both have played offensive tackle. NFL teams are viewing Slater as an offensive lineman with Pro Bowl potential ahead of next week's draft. Slater has experience at tackle, but he's expected to be moved inside the guard because of his length concerns. He is great at run blocking and should excel in a zone-blocking scheme. But Slater is also excellent in pass protection while relying on agility and finesse over pure power. Expect him to be one of the first few interior offensive lineman off the draft board next week.
