Denis Malgin "Probably" Out Friday

Colorado Avalanche forward Denis Malgin left Thursday's 4-2 win over Winnipeg with an undisclosed injury and appears unlikely to play in Friday's regular-season finale against Nashville. Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said after Thursday's game that Malgin will "probably" miss Friday's contest. Malgin opened the scoring with his 13th goal of the season Thursday and has been playing an important role for an injury-hit team. Fellow forward Andrew Cogliano (upper body) was also hurt on Thursday, so Bednar finds himself with plenty of gaps to fill ahead of the postseason.

Denis Malgin Tallies Three Points In Monday's Victory

Colorado Avalanche forward Denis Malgin enjoyed a three-point night against the Blackhawks on Monday, totaling two goals and an assist in a 5-0 win. The 26-year-old has replaced Artturi Lehkonen (finger) on the second line, and he's finally taken advantage of the situation over the last couple of games, picking up four points. Malgin might start to get even more usage in the upcoming games after Evan Rodrigues (lower body) was knocked out of the lineup Monday. The Swiss forward has notched 10 goals and 16 points in 53 games overall this season.

Denis Malgin Takes A Top-Six Spot Wednesday

Colorado Avalanche forward Denis Malgin will be promoted to the top six for Wednesday's matchup against Toronto. The Avalanche have just lost Artturi Lehkonen (finger) for multiple weeks and Malgin is first in line to get a look in the top six. The Swiss forward has impressed lately by scoring in three of the last five games. He has eight goals in total this season with four assists in 49 games. Malgin started the season with the Maple Leafs before he was traded to Colorado, so he should be very motivated to perform well Wednesday night.

Denis Malgin Considered Week-To-Week

Colorado Avalanche forward Denis Malgin (upper body) will sit out a second consecutive game Tuesday against Florida and is considered week-to-week. He got hurt last week in a game against Vancouver and it looks like it might take a while until Malgin is game-ready again. Luckily for the Avalanche, the team's other injuries have started to clear up and they shouldn't miss Malgin much. He has tallied only one assist in seven games since joining the team via a trade from the Maple Leafs, and his form in Toronto wasn't much better either, with Malgin recording four points in 23 games.

Denis Malgin Making His Avalanche Debut On Wednesday

Colorado Avalanche forward Denis Malgin will make his team debut in Wednesday's matchup against Montreal. He joined the defending Stanley Cup champions on Monday via a trade with Toronto that sent Dryden Hunt the other way. The Avalanche have been badly stung by injuries up front this season and badly needed some help in the area. Malgin skated in 23 games for the Maple Leafs this term, posting two goals and two assists. He had a very limited role and it made it difficult for him to have an impact. The Swiss forward should get more action in Denver and is slated to start on the third line Wednesday.

Nicholas Robertson Replaces Denis Malgin On Second Line

Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Nicholas Robertson will make his season debut on Thursday against Dallas, replacing Denis Malgin on the second line. Malgin will watch the game from the press box as a healthy scratch. Robertson looked great in preseason, but he couldn't start the year in the NHL due to Toronto's cap situation, which solved itself with Matt Murray's injury. The 21-year-old has so far tallied only two points in 16 NHL appearances, but he's been getting close to a point per game in the AHL and should be able to make an impact on a well-working scoring line that features Toronto's leading scorer John Tavares.
