Ivan Provorov Stays in Columbus on Seven-Year Deal

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Ivan Provorov has secured a seven-year, $59.5 million contract extension. Provorov was set to be one of the most attractive free agents among defensemen on the open market. Instead, he has committed his long-term future to the Blue Jackets, who acquired Provorov a couple of years back from the Philadelphia Flyers. The Russian blue-liner has produced back-to-back 30-point campaigns in Columbus. In 2024-25, he notched seven goals and 26 assists in 82 games with 127 blocked shots. He is expected to remain a steady two-way contributor next season.

Ivan Provorov A Game-Time Call Thursday

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Ivan Provorov (illness) is considered a game-time call on Thursday against Philadelphia. Provorov missed practice on Wednesday with an illness, and it's unclear if he's feeling well enough to play. The Russian blue-liner has not missed any games so far this season since getting traded by the Flyers to Columbus in a three-team deal in June. He's logged over 23 minutes per game for the team and is currently on pace to have a career year offensively. In 39 outings, Provorov has notched 21 points (two goals, 19 assists). Andrew Peeke should come into the lineup if Provorov isn't available against his former team on Thursday.

Ivan Provorov Traded To Columbus

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Ivan Provorov from the Philadelphia Flyers in a three-way trade with the Los Angeles Kings. The deal included defenseman Kevin Connauton moving from Philadelphia to L.A., while Kings defenseman Sean Walker and goaltender Calvin Petersen joined the Flyers. A couple of minor league players and a few draft picks were also involved in the trade, with Philadelphia landing Columbus' 2023 first-round pick and a couple of second-rounders. Provorov, the seventh pick of the 2015 draft, is the biggest piece of the trade, with the Russian blue-liner moving on from Philadelphia after spending all of his seven-year career so far with the Flyers. "He immediately improves our group on defense as he is durable, has great skill, skates well, is an excellent passer with an accurate shot and can effectively play at both ends of the ice," Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said about Provorov.

Ivan Provorov Ends Game Wednesday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov saved his best moment for last against the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night. Provorov converted on a play made by Kevin Hayes as he scored the game winning goal 2:14 into overtime. That gave the Philadelphia Flyers a 3-2 win. This was Provorov's only shot of the game. He did have three blocked shots, a hit, and a takeaway as well. While the defenseman has just three points on the man advantage, he does have four points in his last four games. Provorov is showing signs of life for fantasy owners and more of the form from two years ago where he netted 13 goals and 36 points in 69 games.

Ivan Provorov Delivers Two Assists In Monday's Win

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov set up two goals in Monday's 3-2 overtime victory at Boston. He helped Travis Konecny on the board in the opening frame and recorded a power-play assist on Sean Couturier's goal in the third. Travis Sanheim finished off the game in overtime with an unassisted marker. Sitting on 20 points, Provorov is now among the top-30 scorers among all defensemen in the league. He's recorded 84 shots, 71 blocks and 48 hits in 37 games. The 24-year-old has been hugely important for the Flyers, eating up minutes in every situation and averaging 25:09 of ice time for the year. Provorov now has four points in six meetings with the Bruins this season, and he'll have a chance to add to his tally Tuesday night.

Ivan Provorov Sinks Sabres In Overtime On Monday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov recorded a goal and added an assist as his team handed the Buffalo Sabres its 18th consecutive loss in overtime on Monday night. The 24-year-old picked up an assist on a late game-tying goal (1:29 left) and then provided the dagger on a nice finish just 42 seconds in the extra frame. Overall, Provorov's performance should go a long way for his confidence as the talented rearguard had collected just one assist over his past seven contests. Provorov has now posted 17 points (five goals, 12 assists), a plus-four rating, 77 shots and 46 hits through 34 games in 2020-2021. He'll look to build some momentum in a rematch with Buffalo on Wednesday.

Ivan Provorov Leads Flyers To Victory On Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov registered a goal and added a pair of assists as his team secured a 5-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. The 24-year-old, who had been held relatively quiet through his first six games (one goal, one assist) was very noticeable in this one - also contributing two shots and two blocks while leading all skaters with 27:43 of ice time. Provorov's performance only further solidifies how valuable he is in all fantasy formats and he should be inserted back into starting lineups ahead of his next tilt versus the Devils on Thursday.
