Jaroslav Halak Keeps Predators Quiet With 22 Saves

New York Rangers goaltender Jaroslav Halak recorded his first shutout of the season on Sunday, stopping 22 shots in a 7-0 victory. The team exploded for a franchise-record six first-period goals, and it was easy sailing for Halak after that. The Rangers became the sixth team in NHL history with back-to-back shutouts while scoring six or more goals. Sunday's victory helped Halak to pick up his first win in five appearances. It's been a bumpy ride for him at times as Igor Shesterkin's backup, but Halak's record at 9-8-3 isn't too bad, and he has registered a decent 2.65 goals-against average with a .905 save percentage.

Jaroslav Halak Leaves Canucks Game With Injury

Goaltender Jaroslav Halak (upper body) was called upon to start in the Vancouver Canucks game against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. He only lasted one period, though, leaving the game early with an upper-body injury. He was perfect before the injury, turning away 14 of 14 first-period shots. Halak has played 17 games this year in his first season for the Canucks. The veteran has a 2.94 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage and will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Jaroslav Halak Between The Pipes Monday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jaroslav Halak will mind the crease against New Jersey Monday. Halak, who has served as a backup to Thatcher Demko, sports a regular-season record of 2-5-2 in 11 games this season. He has zero shutouts with a goals-against-average of 2.93 and a save percentage of .899. The 35-year old has won his last two starts, and he has yet to play against the Devils this season. This netminder is rostered in just 11% of leagues in Yahoo.

Jaroslav Halak Plays Great In Loss Thursday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jaroslav Halak just could not get any goal support on Thursday in Los Angeles. He gave up just one goal on 35 shots faced. In the shootout, he allowed two goals on five times as Vancouver fell for the first time in eight games. Halak could not be blamed too much for the loss as he kept Vancouver in this game for long stretches where Los Angeles dominated territory wise. Though Halak fell to 1-4-2, the goaltender gave up two or fewer goals for the first time since October 28th -- his second start of the season.

Jaroslav Halak Faces Los Angeles On Thursday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jaroslav Halak will spell Thatcher Demko on Thursday night in net. Halak will start against the Los Angeles Kings as Vancouver tries to extend their winning streak to eight games. The concern for the Canucks is that Halak has not played particularly well winning just once in six decisions (1-4-1). Even in that win, the goaltender gave up three goals on 23 shots against the Columbus Blue Jackets on December 14th. Since November 14th, Halak has just three starts. Thatcher Demko leads the NHL in minutes played, shots faced, and saves. The backup needs to prove he can give Demko a break now and then.

Jaroslav Halak Takes Loss Despite 39 Saves

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jaroslav Halak was under siege, particularly in the third period on Sunday. He stopped 39 saves in all including four on the penalty kill. It was the penalty kill again where the problems started increasing. Vancouver allowed two goals in the third period -- both on the man disadvantage. There is a reason why the Canucks rank 32nd in the league on the penalty kill at 62.3%. With that, a 2-1 lead turned into a 3-2 loss as Halak went from winner to loser. Expect Thatcher Demko to start on Monday night against the Montreal Canadiens.

Jaroslav Halak Faces Former Team Sunday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jaroslav Halak faces the Boston Bruins on Sunday night from Boston. Halak has not won a game this season in four decisions (0-3-1). The problem is that the goalie has been worse on the road. He has allowed six goals in two starts away from home. Worse, he has yielded four goals on the penalty kill. This is going against a Boston team that historically thrives at home on the power play. Vancouver is searching for a way out of their current slump. They have lost eight of ten and stand in dead last in the Pacific Division. Vancouver and Halak need a win badly.

Jaroslav Halak Gets Rare Start On Tuesday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jaroslav Halak has a chance to shake off some rust on Tuesday as he makes his third start of the campaign against Anaheim. The veteran netminder put in good work in his first two appearances for the team, registering a 2.09 goals-against average with a .917 save percentage, but ended up on the losing side on both occasions. His last appearance was on Oct. 28. The 36-year-old posted a few strong campaigns for Boston, but the Canucks have a lot of faith in Thatcher Demko and it's limiting Halak's playing time in Vancouver. This could be another losing night for him as well, with the Ducks having dominated the head-to-head series with five wins in the last six meetings.

Jaroslav Halak Makes His Canucks Debut

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jaroslav Halak is set for his team debut in Saturday's meeting with Detroit. The well-traveled veteran will start a quest for 300 career wins, needing 19 more to reach the milestone. He picked up nine victories in 19 appearances last season for Boston, recording a 2.53 goals-against average with a .905 save percentage and two shutouts. He'll have a lot more work playing in Vancouver. Thatcher Demko started the first two games of the season and faced 69 total shots. The continued absence of Brock Boeser (undisclosed) makes things difficult for the Canucks, but Detroit will be without their captain Dylan Larkin, who serves a one-game suspension, and it should even the playing field, putting Halak in a decent spot to grab a victory.

Jaroslav Halak Inks One-Year Deal With Canucks

Veteran goaltender Jaroslav Halak landed with the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday. He agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract. The unrestricted free agent will pair with promising goalie Thatcher Demko. Although the younger netminder figures to see the lion's share of the action, Halak will certainly be called upon to play upwards of 30 games if healthy. The veteran of 15 NHL seasons is now 36 years old but he has posted solid numbers in recent years. Last season, he slipped a bit with a .905 save percentage and 2.53 GAA in 19 games while backing up Tuukka Rask with the Boston Bruins. Halak has also played with the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, and New York Islanders. He has 281 career wins and a .916 save percentage.

Jaroslav Halak Makes Second Start In 18 Games

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will make his 17th start of the campaign in Tuesday's rematch with the Devils. Tuukka Rask posted a 20-save shutout in the matchup on Monday. Halak has seen very little action over the last month or so due to health issues and this will be only his second start in 18 games. The veteran netminder has put together a 9-6-3 record this season with a 2.45 goals-against average, a .909 save percentage and two shutouts. The Devils are going with the in-form Mackenzie Blackwood, who has won three on the trot, so it might not be easy for Halak to improve his numbers.

Jaroslav Halak Looks For Revenge Against New Jersey

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will be the team's starter for Tuesday's rematch with New Jersey. Halak and the B's got beaten by the Devils 1-0 on Sunday, and he is completely winless in three outings in the matchup this season, going 0-2-1. The veteran netminder has produced solid numbers this month with a 1.94 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage, but he has only three wins to show for it in eight appearances. Halak's overall record for the year stands at 7-5-3 with a 2.17 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage and two shutouts. Boston has had a tough time in the matchup this season, but they get Brad Marchand (COVID protocols) and Brandon Carlo (upper body) back here, which will boost their chances of success.

Jaroslav Halak Starts Tuesday's Meeting With Islanders

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will guard the cage in Tuesday's meeting with the New York Islanders. Tuukka Rask is reportedly a bit banged up and might not even dress for the matchup, so it's up to Halak to hold down the fort against his former team while staying ready for more action. The veteran netminder will enter the contest with a 5-2-1 record and he has a 2.24 goals-against average for the season with a .913 save percentage and one shutout. The Isles have put together an incredible 10-0-2 home record, so it will take something special from Halak and the B's to get skate away with a victory.

Jaroslav Halak Takes On Streaking Washington

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will be between the pipes in Friday's matchup against the Washington Capitals, who enter the contest on a four-game winning streak. Halak had a four-game winning streak of his own recently, but his last two outings have been losing efforts, with his most recent start a really long night at the office. The veteran netminder allowed seven goals on 37 shots in a 7-3 loss to the Islanders on Feb. 25. He carries a 4-2-1 record for the year with a 2.42 goals-against average, a .903 save percentage, and one shutout. With Halak struggling at the moment, fantasy managers should look elsewhere on Friday.

Jaroslav Halak Takes On Devils Thursday Night

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will make his sixth start of the year on Thursday against New Jersey. The veteran netminder is looking to protect a 4-0-1 record. He carries a 1.38 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage with one shutout. Halak took a 2-1 overtime loss in his first outing versus New Jersey this season, but he has an outstanding 7-1-1 career record against them. The Devils have won only five of their last 21 trips to Boston, so Halak is nicely placed to record another W.

Jaroslav Halak In Goal For Boston Friday Night

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will earn his fifth start of the season on Friday against the Rangers, looking to extend his winning streak to four games. The 35-year-old veteran kicked off his year with a 2-1 overtime loss to New Jersey but has since then put together a nice run during which he has allowed only five goals. The B's blueline is depleted with Matt Grzelcyk (lower body) out again, but the team is on a roll with eight wins in the past nine games, so Halak is in a great spot to notch another W.

Jaroslav Halak Draws Start Versus Washington

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will make his fourth start of the campaign as his team faces off against the Washington Capitals on Monday. The Czech netminder is fresh off three days of rest, last playing in a 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday in which he stopped 16 of 17 shots against. Halak is proving to be a strong fantasy backstopper once again in 2020-2021 - posting a 1.30 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage thus far. With the Bruins committed to alternating starts between Halak and goaltender Tuukka Rask, the 35-year-old could finish the campaign as a top-10 netminder. Fantasy owners will want to cement him into starting lineups on Monday.

Jaroslav Halak Shuts Down Penguins On Thursday

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak cruised to his second victory of the campaign as he backstopped his team to a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night. The 35-year-old only faced just 17 shots but managed to turn aside 16 of them to improve his line to a 1.30 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage on the season. Considering the Bruins seem adamant in Halak and fellow netminder Tuukka Rask splitting starts in 2020-2021, the Czech Republic native should probably be owned in more than just 70% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Jaroslav Halak Starts On Thursday

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will guard the net in Thursday's matchup against Pittsburgh. He gets his third start of the season, after going 1-0-1 in his first two outings with a 1.44 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage. Tuukka Rask (undisclosed) will have the night completely off with Dan Vladar set to back up Halak. David Pastrnak (hip) remains out and Jake DeBrusk (lower body) also won't feature, but the B's are off to a solid start to the season, and with Halak in goal, they have every chance of stretching their winning streak to four games.

Jaroslav Halak Takes On Flyers Saturday Night

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak will man the crease on Saturday against Philadelphia, trying to get off the mark for the season. The veteran netminder lost his only previous start this season 2-1 in overtime to New Jersey. He delivered a solid performance with 29 saves, so it shouldn't take him too long to start racking up the wins. The Bruins have dominated this matchup on home ice, winning 13 of the last 18 meetings in Boston. The run includes Thursday's 5-4 shootout success, in which Tuukka Rask had 22 saves.
