John Klingberg Ready for Action Tuesday

San Jose Sharks defenseman John Klingberg (lower body) will return from a six-game absence on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. He will join Mario Ferraro on the second defensive pairing and take a spot on the first power-play unit. Before he was hurt, Klingberg recorded one power-play goal and an even-strength assist in three appearances. On Tuesday, he has a good chance of being more successful with the man advantage, as the Kings have only killed 73.8 percent of their penalties this season. Klingberg's return will push Vincent Iorio out of the lineup.

John Klingberg Deemed Day-to-Day

San Jose Sharks defenseman John Klingberg (lower body) is considered day-to-day. The Swedish veteran has sustained a lower-body injury ahead of Friday's meeting with the Utah Mammoth. Klingberg has kicked off his career in San Jose with two points (one goal, one assist) in three games. He's collected both of his points on the power play. On the defensive end, Klingberg has contributed four blocks and three hits. Since Timothy Liljegren (upper body) is also nursing an injury, the Sharks may have two new blue-liners in the lineup on Friday. The team has carried Shakir Mukhamadullin and Vincent Desharnais as extra defensemen.

John Klingberg Doubtful for Friday's Action

San Jose Sharks defenseman John Klingberg (upper body) returned to the ice on Thursday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. The veteran rearguard suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday's preseason outing against the Vegas Golden Knights. According to Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky, Klingberg is improving but is doubtful to play in Friday's matchup against Vegas. Klingberg joined the Sharks on a one-year, $4 million deal in July. He's had trouble staying healthy in recent years, and fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to make a big impact this season.

John Klingberg Rejoins Oilers Lineup Tuesday

Edmonton Oilers defenseman John Klingberg will return to action on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The Swedish veteran will rejoin the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the last two games. He will take the place of Troy Stecher, who did not make a significant impact in Games 4 and 5 of the series. Klingberg has generally received praise for his contributions during Edmonton's postseason run, but he's had a bad time in the Finals. In three appearances against the Panthers, Klingberg has recorded a minus-four rating. Throughout the playoffs, he has tallied four points (one goal, three assists) in 18 outings while blocking 31 shots.

John Klingberg Won't Play in Game 4 Against Panthers

Edmonton Oilers defenseman John Klingberg will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's Game 4 against the Florida Panthers. The Swedish veteran had a tough time in Monday's Game 3, finishing with a minus-three rating in a 6-1 loss, prompting Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch to replace him with Troy Stecher for Thursday's game. Stecher was a regular in the lineup early in the postseason but has not played since Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Stars. He has gone scoreless in six outings, while recording six shots, seven blocks, and six hits. The 31-year-old is expected to join Darnell Nurse on the second defensive pairing.

John Klingberg Enters Oilers Lineup For Game 2

Edmonton Oilers defenseman John Klingberg (lower body) will be welcomed back into the lineup on Wednesday in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Kings. The 32-year-old has been on the shelf since March 27 due to a lower-body injury. After signing a one-year deal with the Oilers on Jan. 17, Klingberg made 11 appearances during the regular season, registering four points (one goal, three assists), 19 shots, and 13 blocks. On Wednesday, he will be paired with Jake Walman in defense, while Josh Brown will sit out the action as a healthy scratch.

John Klingberg Ready To Return To Action

Edmonton Oilers defenseman John Klingberg (lower body) might be back in the lineup for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Los Angeles Kings. "Yes, he definitely can be a player for us coming in Game 2," Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said on Tuesday. "Whether we make that decision tomorrow, but I would say we will see him at some point in the series." Klingberg has sat out 11 games due to a lower-body injury. He was limited to four points (one goal, three assists) in 11 games with the Oilers during the regular season. However, Klingberg has previously found considerable success in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, recording 39 points (eight goals, 31 assists) in 63 career games.

John Klingberg Not Playing On Tuesday

Edmonton Oilers defenseman John Klingberg (undisclosed) will not be in the starting lineup on Tuesday evening when the Oilers face the Utah Hockey Club. Klingberg has missed the previous six contests due to this injury. As a result, Troy Stretcher will remain in the starting lineup. Before sustaining this injury, Klingberg tallied four points (one goal) across five contests. During this stretch, Klingberg logged 12 shots on goal with three hits and nine blocked shots. Through 10 games this season, the 32-year-old has found the back of the net just one time and added three helpers. During the 2023 season, Klingberg tallied a similar five points over 14 NHL contests. When Klingberg is cleared to return to the starting lineup, he will not carry any fantasy value, given his lack of scoring upside.

John Klingberg Out On Monday

Edmonton Oilers defenseman John Klingberg (undisclosed) will miss Monday's game against the Buffalo Sabres. He remains day-to-day with a minor injury, missing a third straight game. Since linking up with the Oilers in January, Klingberg has registered four points (one goal, three assists) while blocking 12 shots in 10 games. With Mattias Ekholm (undisclosed) also sidelined, Troy Stecher has been getting regular playing time. However, he has not made a significant impact and should not be considered for fantasy purposes. In 49 games this season, Stecher has accumulated only six points (three goals, three assists).

John Klingberg Out For Season

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg (hip) will miss the rest of the season. The Swedish blue-liner has been on the shelf for seven games, and it's now clear we won't see him at all for the rest of the 2023-24 campaign, with him scheduled to have hip surgery at the end of the month. According to Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving, Klingberg faces a five-to-six-month rehab period. Klingberg, who will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, finishes the season with zero goals and five assists in 14 games.

John Klingberg Placed On Long-Term Injured Reserve

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg (undisclosed) has been placed on long-term Injured Reserve. He has already missed the last two games, and the move means Klingberg isn't ready to go anytime soon. The 31-year-old is reportedly dealing with a hip issue. Klingberg, an offensive defenseman, has been largely ineffective during his debut campaign in Toronto, failing to score and notching only five assists in 14 outings. Simon Benoit has filled in for Klingberg lately, but Conor Timmins (lower body) is expected to enter the frame on Friday versus Chicago. It's going to be a season debut for the 27-year-old after Timmins sustained a lower-body injury in a preseason game.

John Klingberg Unavailable This Weekend

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg is still not available to the team for back-to-back games against the Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins this weekend, as per head coach Sheldon Keefe. The veteran blueliner hasn't appeared since a Nov. 11 contest against the Vancouver Canucks as he also missed the team's two Global Series Sweden contests in his native country last week. "We'll have something for you when something's changed. At this point, there's no change in his status," Keefe said on Wednesday while adding "he's just continuing to work through things." Certainly, it's a grim picture for a player who has struggled mightily in his first season in Toronto, registering just five assists and a minus-seven rating across 14 games to this point.

John Klingberg Unlikely To Dress Friday

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg is unlikely to play in Friday's contest in Stockholm versus the Detroit Red Wings, according to head coach Sheldon Keefe. The veteran blueliner has been banged up of late and missed Friday's game against the Calgary Flames before returning for Saturday's win over the Vancouver Canucks. It's been a tough start to his Maple Leafs tenure as the offense-first rear guard has yet to score a goal with just five assists and a minus-seven rating across 14 contests despite spending much of the season on the top unit of a talented Maple Leafs power play. If the 31-year-old is unable to go Friday, Simon Benoit is the likely candidate to dress in his absence.

John Klingberg Returns To Action Saturday

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg (undisclosed) will be back in the lineup Saturday versus Vancouver. He missed Friday's clash with Calgary with an unspecified ailment. Klingberg's debut campaign in Toronto hasn't quite gone according to plan, as the offensively-gifted rearguard has contributed only five assists and no goals in 13 outings. He will hope to put a stop to a seven-game point drought on Saturday. Klingberg is expected to skate on the second defensive pairing and the first power-play unit, pushing Simon Benoit out of the lineup.

John Klingberg Set To Be Available For Season Opener

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg (upper body) is expected to be deemed game-ready by head coach Sheldon Keefe when the 2023-24 NHL campaign begins for the team on Wednesday versus Montreal. Klingberg has been nursing an upper-body problem since Sept. 27 and had to sit out almost all of the preseason slate. The offensive-minded blue-liner lost a lot of valuable time to work with his new teammates, but he is trending in the right direction and should play a big part for the Maple Leafs right off the bat, with Klingberg slated to skate on the top power-play unit.

John Klingberg Forced To Exit Early Wednesday

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg couldn't complete Wednesday's preseason contest versus Buffalo after "something tightened up" on him early in the game. According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, it was a precautionary move, but Klingberg will be evaluated further on Thursday. Klingberg is set to play a big role for the Maple Leafs in 2023-24, as he's been trusted with quarterbacking the first power-play unit. The Swedish blue-liner has been very impactful with the man advantage throughout his career, and he showed his quality in his Maple Leafs debut when Klingberg had a power-play assist and a game-high eight shots on goal in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to Ottawa.

John Klingberg On Track To Return Friday

Minnesota Wild defenseman John Klingberg (lower body) is expected to make his 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in Friday's Game 3 against Dallas. He missed the start of the series with a lower-body injury but is now ready to go. Klingberg registered nine points in 17 regular-season outings with the Wild after arriving from Anaheim. He was quarterbacking the first power-play unit before getting injured and Klingberg will likely take up the position against Friday, which will push Jared Spurgeon back to the second unit.

John Klingberg Set To Remain Out For Game 2

Minnesota Wild defenseman John Klingberg (lower body) isn't expected to return to the lineup for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Stars. He missed the series opener on Monday and it looks like Klingberg still needs a bit more time to recover from a lower-body injury. The Swedish blue-liner will be desperate to play in the series after spending the first eight years of his NHL career in Dallas. He struggled as a member of the Ducks this season, but did reasonably well after moving to Minnesota, recording nine points and 19 blocks in 17 outings with a plus-three rating.

John Klingberg Ready To Return Wednesday

Minnesota Wild defenseman John Klingberg (upper body) will rejoin the lineup for Wednesday's game against Colorado. The Swedish blue-liner has been battling an upper-body issue, missing three games. Klingberg, who was a trade deadline acquisition from Anaheim, has skated in nine games with the Wild, logging one goal and three assists. He will jump back into the lineup in a top-four role and should also feature heavily on the power play.

John Klingberg To Remain Out On Saturday

Minnesota Wild defenseman John Klingberg (upper body) will be unavailable for a second straight game Saturday against Chicago. He dropped out of the lineup Thursday versus Philadelphia, missing his first game since joining Minnesota from Anaheim at the start of the month. Klingberg has registered three assists and four points in nine games with his new club. Across the entire season, the Swedish blue-liner has picked up 28 points in 59 games.
