Jonathan Toews News
Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews will make his last appearance for the team on Thursday against Philadelphia. It was announced Thursday morning by Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson that the team won't be re-signing Toews, who will become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. Toews has spent his entire 16-year NHL career with the Blackhawks, being team captain for 15 years, and it's unclear if he will continue his career in 2023-24. The three-time Stanley Cup champion has totaled 371 goals and 511 assists in 1066 regular-season appearances. He's had 30 points in 52 games this season.
Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) has received the green light to return to action Saturday against New Jersey. He hasn't played since Jan. 28, trying to overcome the effects of long COVID-19 and chronic immune response syndrome. Toews played in 46 games this season before dropping out of the lineup, scoring 14 goals and picking up 14 assists. The 34-year-old has been a shadow of his former self in recent seasons and Saturday's contest could be one of the final games of his career, as it's unclear if Toews will carry on playing next season. He will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.
Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) released a statement on Sunday saying that he is dealing with symptoms of long COVID-19 and chronic immune response syndrome. He has missed seven of the team's last eight games and now we know why. Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson is hopeful of getting Toews back before the end of the season, but it's unclear when that might happen. One thing is certain though, Toews and the team have decided together that he won't be traded before the March 3 deadline. The 34-year-old has tallied 14 goals and 14 assists in 46 games this season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.
Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) will miss a second consecutive game Friday versus Arizona and won't be available for Saturday's clash with Winnipeg either. The Blackhawks captain has been struck down by a non-COVID illness and it's currently unclear when he will be ready to play again. There are some hopes of him possibly being back Tuesday when the team continues its road trip through Canada in Montreal. Toews' health issue has lifted Jason Dickinson to the top six, and he's quietly put together a three-game goal streak.
