Jonathan Toews Plays His Final Game For Chicago

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews will make his last appearance for the team on Thursday against Philadelphia. It was announced Thursday morning by Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson that the team won't be re-signing Toews, who will become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. Toews has spent his entire 16-year NHL career with the Blackhawks, being team captain for 15 years, and it's unclear if he will continue his career in 2023-24. The three-time Stanley Cup champion has totaled 371 goals and 511 assists in 1066 regular-season appearances. He's had 30 points in 52 games this season.

Jonathan Toews Returns To Action Saturday

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) has received the green light to return to action Saturday against New Jersey. He hasn't played since Jan. 28, trying to overcome the effects of long COVID-19 and chronic immune response syndrome. Toews played in 46 games this season before dropping out of the lineup, scoring 14 goals and picking up 14 assists. The 34-year-old has been a shadow of his former self in recent seasons and Saturday's contest could be one of the final games of his career, as it's unclear if Toews will carry on playing next season. He will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Jonathan Toews Dealing With Long COVID-19 Symptoms

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) released a statement on Sunday saying that he is dealing with symptoms of long COVID-19 and chronic immune response syndrome. He has missed seven of the team's last eight games and now we know why. Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson is hopeful of getting Toews back before the end of the season, but it's unclear when that might happen. One thing is certain though, Toews and the team have decided together that he won't be traded before the March 3 deadline. The 34-year-old has tallied 14 goals and 14 assists in 46 games this season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Jonathan Toews Remains Out

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) will miss a second consecutive game Friday versus Arizona and won't be available for Saturday's clash with Winnipeg either. The Blackhawks captain has been struck down by a non-COVID illness and it's currently unclear when he will be ready to play again. There are some hopes of him possibly being back Tuesday when the team continues its road trip through Canada in Montreal. Toews' health issue has lifted Jason Dickinson to the top six, and he's quietly put together a three-game goal streak.

Jonathan Toews Likely Out Tuesday

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) is expected to miss Tuesday's clash with the Ducks. The Blackhawks captain has fallen sick over the All-Star break, missing back-to-back practices on Sunday and Monday. The veteran centerman sits on 14 goals and 28 points through 46 games. 10 of his points came in the first 13 games of the season when it looked like Toews was ready to produce a solid bounce-back campaign, but the team has struggled all year and thus Toews hasn't managed to make a big impact in fantasy hockey.

Jonathan Toews On Track To Return

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) skated Saturday morning and appears ready to rejoin the lineup against the Oilers. He missed his second game of the season Thursday versus Calgary after catching an illness bug. Chicago managed a 5-1 win without Toews on Thursday and has heated up with a 7-3-0 run, which has given has given everyone a lift. Toews recently enjoyed a four-game point streak and is now sitting on 27 points through 45 games. He has slightly improved his scoring production compared to last year, which was the minimum fantasy managers could've hoped for. Toews isn't the player he used to be, but he can still heat up from time to time, and who knows, maybe he'll turn back the clock if he lands in a favorable situation when Chicago decides to trade him away.

Jonathan Toews Pots A Power-Play Goal

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews scored the team's lone goal in Friday's 4-1 defeat to Minnesota, finding the back of the net on the power play. He was set up by Patrick Kane and Seth Jones. It's the 298th time Toews and Kane have factored on the same goal and only two duos in franchise history have been more successful than them. The two of them have combined for 39 points during another tough year for the Blackhawks. Toews has 17 of the points and is tied for the team lead in goals with 10 markers in 28 games. He has ended a slump with a three-game point streak, although the Blackhawks captain has also recorded a minus-four rating during the run, which is far from ideal for fantasy managers.

Jonathan Toews Returns For Chicago

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (illness) will be back in action Friday against Winnipeg. An illness forced him out of Tuesday's game against New Jersey, but Toews is already feeling better and also participated in Thursday's practice. The veteran star had a good start to the season, but he has slowed down lately and it's left him stuck on 14 points through 24 games. Toews jumps back on the top line Friday and will skate between Patrick Kane and Andreas Athanasiou.

Jonathan Toews A Game-Time Call Tuesday

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews has caught an illness and is a game-time decision for Tuesday's contest against New Jersey. He skipped the morning skate and might now also have to miss his first game of the season. Toews has had some solid stretches in 2022-23, but with him having recorded 14 points and a minus-10 rating in 24 games, it's not been a good campaign overall for the Blackhawks captain. Max Domi has been hot lately and could take over as the first-line center Tuesday if Toews isn't able to play.

Jonathan Toews Riding His Best Scoring Streak In Three Years

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews has turned back the clock lately and is sitting on his best point streak in three years. He scored in a second consecutive game in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Islanders, stretching his point streak to six games. Toews has scored four goals during the run and boasts two assists from the games. The five-time All-Star struggled massively last term when he returned to action after sitting out the whole of 2020-21, and it's great to see Toews bouncing back and proving his doubters wrong. The veteran centerman has been held off the scoresheet just twice this season in 10 games, and he has recorded six goals and two assists with 19 shots and a plus-one rating.

Jonathan Toews Returning Thursday Vs. Oilers

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (concussion) is expected back in the lineup on Thursday when his team hosts the Edmonton Oilers, NHL.com reported. The veteran forward has not played since January 26 in an 8-5 win over the Detroit Red Wings. While Blackhawks fans will no doubt be happy to see the 33-year-old back on the ice, fantasy managers shouldn't be rushing to play Toews given he has registered a career-low 19 points through 43 games played this season.

Jonathan Toews Extends Point Streak With A Goal

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews scored a late game-tying goal in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to Nashville, extending his point streak to four games. The run includes three goals, his first ones since returning to action this season. Toews isn't the same player he used to be and owns only 13 points for the season, but the Chicago captain is playing good hockey right now, and he gets a quick chance to extend his point streak even longer on Saturday when the Blackhawks are back in action against Dallas.

Jonathan Toews Finally Gets To Celebrate A Goal Again

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews scored his first goal of the season in Thursday's 2-0 win over Montreal, finding the back of the net for the first time since March 2020. The Blackhawks captain found himself on a huge goal-scoring drought after sitting out the whole of 2020-21 with a chronic immune response syndrome. Toews scored the special goal on the power play in the second period and it ended up as the game-winning marker. He now has 10 points in 26 games for the season.

Jonathan Toews Placed On COVID-19 List

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews was placed on the NHL's COVID-19 protocols list on Tuesday, and he'll be questionable for Wednesday's clash with Toronto. Henrik Borgstrom also joined the list, meaning Chicago now has five players in the protocol, including former MVP Patrick Kane. A number of coaches are also unavailable because of it. The season has only just started, but it's already starting to look like a nightmare for the Blackhawks, who are still looking for their first win of the season with six games played. They could have some of the players available on Wednesday, but it's far from a sure bet.

Jonathan Toews Placed On Injured Reserve

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews (undisclosed) was placed on the long-term Injured Reserve on Thursday afternoon. It remains unclear when Toews will return to the lineup, but at the very least, this means he's going to miss the first 10 games. We still do not know exactly what is ailing Toews, so it is hard to predict how long it will be until he returns. In his absence, Dylan Strome and Pius Suter will continue to fill in as the team's top two centers, but the Blackhawks look like a fantasy wasteland for the 2020 season.

Jonathan Toews To Miss Start Of Season

Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews is out indefinitely with an undiagnosed illness that has left him feeling "drained and lethargic." Apparently, the Blackhawks captain has felt these symptoms for stretches of the offseason. There is no current timetable for the 32-year-old to return, and he will not join the team at training camp. Hopefully, it is nothing too serious for the three-time Stanley Cup champion. Dylan Strome will take over the top-line center duties until Toews returns.
