Matt Coronato Available Against Kings

Calgary Flames right wing Matt Coronato (undisclosed) will play in Thursday's season finale against the Los Angeles Kings. He was out on Tuesday against Colorado due to an undisclosed injury, but is available for his 80th appearance of the season on Thursday night. Thanks to a late scoring surge, Coronato has posted his second straight 40-point season. He has tallied 44 points (19 goals, 26 assists) in 79 outings. The 23-year-old has finished only three of his last 14 appearances without scoring any points. Facing a Kings team that is tied for the seventh-best defensive record in the league, Coronato and the Flames are in for a difficult night.

Matthew Coronato Expected to Make a Big Impact This Season

Calgary Flames right wing Matthew Coronato is expected to have a big sophomore campaign, according to head coach Ryan Huska. "I do think Matt will be anywhere from a 25 to 40-goal guy," Huska said. "Because of his skillset, the way he thinks the game, and the ability he has to shoot the puck, he's going to find himself in those opportunities. I do feel he's going to be a consistent goal scorer for us." Coronato finished his first full NHL season with 24 goals and 47 points in 77 games. The Flames haven't had a 40-goal scorer since Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, and Elias Lindholm all hit that mark in 2021-22.

Matthew Coronato Signs Seven-Year Extension With Flames

Calgary Flames right wing Matthew Coronato (undisclosed) has signed a long-term extension with the team, agreeing on a seven-year, $45.5 million pact that will carry a $6.5 million cap hit. Coronato is finishing off a three-year, $4.475 million contract and could have been a restricted free agent in July. The 22-year-old finished among Calgary's top scorers this season, posting 24 goals and 47 points in 77 appearances. However, the campaign ended on a sour note for Coronato as he sustained an undisclosed injury, which will prevent him from playing for Team USA in the World Championships. If he is back to 100 percent for the start of next season, expectations for Coronato will be high after he closed out the 2024-25 campaign with a seven-game point streak.

Matthew Coronato Scores In Second Straight Game

Calgary Flames left wing Matthew Coronato found the back of the net in his second-straight contest on Monday evening. Coronato would find the back of the net in the third period to extend the Calgary lead to two goals over the San Jose Sharks. This goal would eventually serve as the game-winner. Over these previous two games, Coronato has logged five total shots on goal. However, before this recent scoring surge, Coronato was riding a five-game scoreless streak. During that skid, he logged just 10 total shots on goal and held a -5 rating. Through a career-high 72 games this season, the 22-year-old has scored 22 goals and added 19 helpers, with 14 of his total points coming on the power play. He will look to extend his scoring streak to three games against the Ducks on Wednesday evening.

Matthew Coronato Set To Return To Action Monday

Calgary Flames winger Matthew Coronato (lower body) is expected to return to the lineup for Monday's preseason clash against Seattle. The 21-year-old was hurt versus Vancouver last Wednesday, sitting out some practice time and Saturday's rematch against the Canucks. However, he's set to rejoin the action on Monday, with Jonathan Huberdeau and Yegor Sharangovich as his linemates. Coronato spent most of 2023-24 in the minors and is fighting to make the team for opening night. He's in a good spot to impress on Monday playing with two quality forwards.

Matthew Coronato Back In Practice On Saturday

Calgary Flames winger Matthew Coronato (undisclosed) returned to the ice Saturday morning after missing a few training sessions. The 21-year-old was injured in Wednesday's preseason contest against Vancouver. Coronato isn't expected to play in Saturday's rematch against the Canucks, but it looks like he is trending in the right direction and could be back in the lineup for the final few preseason games next week. The young winger had an impressive AHL campaign last season with 42 points (15 goals, 27 assists) in 41 appearances and is now looking to nail down a spot in the big league. Coronato featured in 34 contests for the Flames in 2023-24, notching three goals and six assists.
