Nick Bonino To Hit Waivers Thursday

New York Rangers forward Nick Bonino is expected to be placed on waivers by the club on Thursday. The veteran was given a lengthy run as the club's fourth-line center this season, his first with the Rangers, but he has produced just one goal and five points through 45 games. He is also a minus-12 on a Rangers team sporting a +17 overall goal differential. The well-traveled veteran has 868 career regular-season games under his belt with 159 goals and 358 points in that time in stints with the Ducks, Canucks, Penguins (twice), Predators, Sharks, and Rangers. He also has 105 career playoff games on his resume with 19 goals and 48 points in that time, winning the Stanley Cup in back-to-back seasons with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017. He carries a pro-rated $800K cap hit for any team that may claim him.

Nick Bonino Day-To-Day With Lower-Body Injury

New York Rangers center Nick Bonino is nursing a lower-body injury and is considered day-to-day. The veteran couldn't practice on Wednesday and could miss his first game of the season when the Rangers face Nashville on Thursday. Bonino has started the season centering the Rangers' fourth line. He's gone scoreless so far with one shot on goal while averaging 11:07 of ice time. Jimmy Vesey should jump into the lineup Thursday if Bonino isn't available. The veteran winger has made one appearance this season, recording an assist and two shots on goal in a 5-3 loss to Columbus on Saturday.

Nick Bonino Out With A Kidney Laceration

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Nick Bonino had to step out of the lineup Saturday versus Philadelphia due to a kidney laceration. He was injured Thursday against the Islanders and is now recovering from surgery. The team considers Bonino week-to-week. It's an unfortunate blow for the veteran who has only just returned to the team. Bonino was brought back in a trade deadline move, but he managed to skate in only three games for the Penguins before getting sidelined. Alex Nylander took Bonino's place in the lineup Saturday.

Nick Bonino Rejoins Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Penguins have brought back Nick Bonino to the team, acquiring him in a three-team trade from the San Jose Sharks. The deal also involved the Montreal Canadiens, who picked up half of Bonino's salary. The Penguins gave up the rights to defenseman Arvid Henriksson, a conditional 2024 fifth-round selection and a 2023 seventh-round pick. Bonino also played in Pittsburgh for a couple of seasons a few years back, winning back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the team. The veteran was with the Sharks since last year and has posted 10 goals and 19 points in 59 appearances this season. He's played a very marginal role in fantasy hockey and that won't change with the move, but Bonino brings a lot of experience and know-how for the team's playoff push.

Alexander Barabanov, Nick Bonino Considered Questionable

San Jose Sharks forwards Alexander Barabanov and Nick Bonino are both battling an illness and are considered questionable for Saturday's matchup against Nashville. Head coach Bob Boughner faces a selection headache if neither player is ready to go. However, there is at least some good news for San Jose as well, with Rudolfs Balcers (upper body) likely returning to the lineup. He's missed the past four games and based on practice lines, the Latvian might make his return on the top line, which will give his fantasy value a very big boost.

Nick Bonino Scores Again For San Jose

San Jose Sharks center Nick Bonino put another puck into the back of the net on Friday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. It turned out to be the only goal scored for San Jose in their 4-1 home loss. Bonino even had four shots on goal and three scoring chances. This was his second goal in as many games. The center had not scored in 18 contests previously. Bonino even played almost four minutes on the man advantage and now has nine shots in his last three games. He could be worth a look as a streaming option on Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Nick Bonino Propels Minnesota To Victory

Minnesota Wild forward Nick Bonino helped his team send San Jose to their fourth straight loss on Friday. Bonino compiled a goal and an assist in the 3-2 win. He has registered six goals and eight assists in 41 Wild contests. The veteran centerman posted six points in his last five games played. When in the lineup, Bonino has been playing wing on the team's fourth line. In Yahoo! leagues, Bonino hardly is a factor with only being rostered in two percent of leagues.
