Cody Glass Moves To Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired center Cody Glass in a trade with the Nashville Predators. Minor league forward Jordan Frasca will be heading the other way, with Nashville also giving up a 2025 third-round draft pick and a 2026 sixth-round selection in the deal. This move is a salary dump for the Predators, who got only 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 41 games out of Glass after signing him to a two-year, $5 million extension last offseason. Glass, who has totaled 29 goals and 71 points in 187 career games, is looking at a bottom-six role in Pittsburgh, which gives him very little fantasy appeal.

Penguins Hope To Have "Quiet" Extension Talks With Sidney Crosby

The Pittsburgh Penguins hope to keep extension talks with Sidney Crosby "as quiet as possible" this offseason. "The key for us is, because of the importance of it and how much Sid means to the organization and the city, we want to keep that as quiet as possible and go through it," Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas told NHL.com at the weekend. "And then hopefully as we get through this summer, get a sense where everybody's at and then let everybody know at the right time." Crosby is set to head into the final season of a 12-year, $104.4-million contract, which has a $8.7 million average annual value. The Penguins captain has seen his team miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs in two consecutive seasons despite him having back-to-back 90-point years. Crosby registered 42 goals and 52 assists in 82 outings in 2023-24, showing he's far from past his best.

Sidney Crosby To Discuss Extension With Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby will discuss a contract extension with the team as he will be on the final season of a 12-year, $104.4 million deal with the team in the 2024-25 season. The average annual value of that deal was a unique $8.7 million, an homage to his No. 87 and his birth year in 1987. "Obviously, I'm going to talk to [general manager Kyle Dubas] and have a conversation with him," Crosby said. "We'll see. I think it's just something I'll have a conversation with him about." The future Hall of Famer led the Penguins with 94 points in his 19th NHL season. The Penguins fell just shy of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the 2023-24 campaign, finishing three points back of the Washington Capitals for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Sidney Crosby Enters Top 10 On NHL's All-Time Scoring List

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby made his way into the top 10 on the NHL's all-time scoring list on Thursday with a three-point performance in a vital 6-5 overtime win against Detroit. He finished the contest with a goal and two assists as the Penguins kept their playoff hopes alive. Crosby reached 1,591 points (591 goals, 1,000 assists), pushing Phil Esposito out of the top 10. He will have his eyes next on Joe Sakic, who collected 1,641 points in his career. The Penguins captain continues to make scoring look easy even as a 36-year-old and is on the cusp of recording his eighth campaign with at least 90 points, having notched 41 goals and 48 assists in 79 outings.

Alex Nedeljkovic Back In Goal Monday

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic will make his ninth straight start between the pipes when the team takes on the hosting Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. Nedeljkovic has come out of nowhere to take over starting duties from the struggling Tristan Jarry and is a key reason why the Pens sit just one point back of the Red Wings for the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. The 28-year-old owns a 2.82 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 33 games this season but has also posted a 2.50 GAA and a .917 Sv% across four games in the month of April. The Penguins are one of three teams sitting just a single point out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Erik Karlsson Records Three Assists In Saturday's Win

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson notched three assists in Saturday's entertaining 5-4 victory over Tampa Bay. He helped Sidney Crosby on his 40th goal of the campaign early in the contest, set up Evgeni Malkin at the start of the second period, and wrapped up his hat trick of assists when Michael Bunting scored the game-winning goal at the 14:32 mark in the third frame. Karlsson jumped on 51 points with the effort, having dished out 42 assists in 77 games. The former Norris Trophy winner was off his game in March but has started strongly this month. Karlsson will have a chance to get to four games with his point streak in Monday's matchup versus Toronto.

Evgeni Malkin Erupts For Three Third-Period Points

Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin picked up three points as the team had an impressive comeback victory against New Jersey on Tuesday. The Penguins were starting at a 3-1 defeat before exploding for five goals in the third period and winning 6-3. Malkin had two of the markers and also registered a power-play assist. He joined Mario Lemieux (74), Jaromir Jagr (33), and Sidney Crosby (24) as the fourth player in franchise history with 20-plus career three-point periods. Malkin's productivity has been lacking over the last couple of months, but he's done well in the most recent four games, with four goals and two assists recorded. Across the entire campaign, the veteran star has totaled 23 goals and 59 points in 75 contests.

Sidney Crosby Earns Three-Point Night Monday

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby notched two goals and an assist for a three-point night en route to a 5-2 win over the hosting New York Rangers. With the effort, the future Hall of Famer ensured he will hit at least one point per game for the 19th season, tying legend Wayne Gretzky for the most of all-time. It has been a disappointing season for the Pens whose playoff chances are on life support as they still sit five points back of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference behind the Washington Capitals who hold a game in hand.

Michael Bunting Exits Saturday's Game With Illness

Pittsburgh Penguins left wing Michael Bunting was forced to exit Saturday's matchup against Columbus early due to an illness. He played less than 10 minutes and didn't register any counting stats other than a minus-one rating. Bunting has had a decent start at his new club with three goals, four assists, 30 shots, and 15 hits through 12 games. Reilly Smith could move back into the top six if Bunting isn't good to go on Monday versus the Rangers.

Ryan Graves Evaluated For An Upper-Body Injury

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ryan Graves suffered an upper-body injury in Thursday's 3-2 victory over Columbus. He was limited to only seven shifts and 5.27 of ice time in the contest. Graves' exit left the Penguins without their leading shot-blocker. The 28-year-old has put his body on the line against 142 shots this season while also recording 72 hits in 70 games with 14 points (three goals, 11 assists). John Ludvig will likely enter the lineup if Graves can't play in Saturday's rematch versus the Blue Jackets.

Sidney Crosby Collects Three Points Versus Carolina

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby recorded his sixth game of the season with at least three points on Tuesday, netting a goal and two assists in a 4-1 win over Carolina. The Penguins captain assisted Bryan Rust on the game-winning goal at the 18:09 mark in the second period and bagged a pair of points near the end of the game with the opposition net empty. Crosby hit the 35-goal mark with the game and now has 76 points in 71 outings. He's had a whopping seven points across the past two games, and with back-to-back meetings with the struggling Blue Jackets coming up, Crosby's numbers could get another big boost this week.

Sidney Crosby Notches Four Points In Defeat Sunday

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby notched a goal and three assists but his team fell to the Colorado Avalanche in overtime by a 5-4 count on Sunday. The future Hall of Famer's team looked primed to earn the victory as they led 4-0 late in the second period before the Avalanche stormed back, tying the game with 4:38 remaining in the third period before winning it in the extra frame just 54 seconds in. While the Penguins have disappointed this season, Crosby has been excellent with 34 goals and 73 points across 70 games. The Penguins' playoff chances are almost zero as they sit with a 30-30-10 record, nine points back of the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Reilly Smith Enjoys Three-Point Outing Tuesday

Pittsburgh Penguins winger Reilly Smith notched three points as the team defeated Columbus 5-3 on Tuesday. Smith had two assists, one on the power play, and wrapped up the scoring in the middle of the third frame. The 32-year-old celebrated his fifth multi-point outing of the campaign. It's been a bumpy ride for Smith with the Penguins, but he has started to pick up form again. A run of two goals and eight assists in 10 games has boosted Smith's points tally for the season to 29. He's had 11 goals and 18 assists in 54 appearances.

Bryan Rust Considered Week-To-Week

Pittsburgh Penguins right wing Bryan Rust (upper body) is considered week-to-week. He stayed home at the start of the week as Pittsburgh began a four-game road trip, and it's possible these will not end up as being the only games Rust misses. Reilly Smith has a positive debut as Rust's replacement on the first line on Tuesday, registering one assist in a 4-3 overtime victory in Vancouver. The new-look line also features Rickard Rakell, who's filling in for Jake Guentzel (upper body). Rakell had two goals on Tuesday for a second consecutive multi-point outing. The line will look for further success on Thursday versus Seattle.

Bryan Rust Stays Behind As Penguins Start Road Trip

Pittsburgh Penguins right wing Bryan Rust (upper body) isn't with the squad as the team kicks off a four-game road trip on Tuesday in Vancouver. He suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday's contest against Philadelphia. Rust had an impressive three-point game against the Flyers and moved to third on the team's goals list with 18 markers. He's also had the same amount of assists in 42 games this season. Reilly Smith, who boasts 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) through 49 appearances, will get the first crack at replacing Rust after practicing on the first line on Monday. Valtteri Puustinen will take over Rust's spot on the first power-play unit.

Sidney Crosby Puts In Vintage Performance Versus Flyers

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby had an outstanding game against Philadelphia on Sunday, leading the team to a 7-6 victory in the Battle of Pennsylvania with a four-point effort. Crosby scored Pittsburgh's first goal and delivered three assists, with one of the helpers coming on the power play. The Penguins captain became the 10th player in NHL history to register at least 460 career multi-point games, and it's his 39th four-point effort. Pittsburgh is heading for another year without any playoff action, but Crosby continues to crush it. He has tallied 32 goals and 60 points in 55 games. 24 of Crosby's points have come in 20 games since the calendar was flipped.

Bryan Rust Evaluated For Upper-Body Injury

Pittsburgh Penguins right wing Bryan Rust is being evaluated for an upper-body injury following Sunday's 7-6 win over Philadelphia. Rust had an outstanding game with two goals and an assist but logged only 14:57 of action. The Penguins are just about to head out for a four-game road trip, and it's now unclear if Rust will travel with the team. If he's out, Rust would exit the lineup in the midst of a hot streak. The 31-year-old has notched seven goals and nine points in nine outings this month. He's tallied 36 points (18 goals, 18 assists) in 42 games for the season. Newly acquired Emil Bemstrom could land in a dream spot next to Sidney Crosby on the first line if Rust isn't available.

Jake Guentzel Set To Miss Four Weeks Of Action

Pittsburgh Penguins left wing Jake Guentzel (upper body) is expected to be out for four weeks. The prolific forward was injured in Wednesday's game against Florida and missed his first contest of the season when the Penguins were back on the ice Thursday versus Chicago. Guentzel leads the Penguins with 30 assists and has amassed 52 points overall in 50 appearances. Rickard Rakell was promoted to the first line in his absence on Thursday. The Swedish winger collected two assists in the game and looks well-situated to improve his productivity over the coming weeks, having linked up with Sidney Crosby.

Alex Nedeljkovic Starts For Penguins Friday

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic will be between the pipes on Friday against Minnesota as the team kicks off a back-to-back. He will make his 15th start of the season, hoping to improve an 8-3-3 record. Nedeljkovic has provided quality outings for the Penguins, and he could have a special night on Friday, as the 28-year-old will go head-to-head with former Pittsburgh favorite Marc-Andre Fleury. Nedeljkovic enters the contest holding a 2.60 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage with one shutout.
