Arturs Silovs Expected To Be Fine For Training Camp

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs (knee) is expected to be good to go for the start of training camp. Silovs pulled out from Latvia's Olympic qualifying tournament last week due to knee inflammation. However, Team Latvia general manager Rudolfs Kalvinitis believes Silovs will be fine for the Canucks camp, which opens on Sept. 19. The Canucks are already without Thatcher Demko (knee), who's set to miss the preseason, so the team can breathe a sigh of relief knowing Silovs isn't dealing with anything serious. Silovs has a 6-2-1 career regular-season record in the NHL and went 5-5 in last year's playoffs while filling in for Demko.

Arturs Silovs Makes Fourth Consecutive Start For Canucks

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs will make a fourth consecutive start in Game 1 against Edmonton on Wednesday. He took over the crease when Thatcher Demko (knee) and Casey DeSmith were injured at the start of the postseason. DeSmith is now back in the fold, but Demko remains out week-to-week. Most recent reports suggest that the Canucks No. 1 won't be ready to return until Game 5 of the series at the earliest. Silovs impressed in Round 1 against Nashville, winning two of three starts with one shutout, a 1.70 goals-against average, and a .938 save percentage.

Arturs Silovs Expected To Go Again Friday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs is the expected goaltender for Friday's Game 6 against the Nashville Predators. The 23-year-old has started the past two games for the Canucks in lieu of Casey DeSmith who originally took over for the injured Thatcher Demko. He has been solid in his two postseason contests, turning aside 47 of the 52 shots he has faced (.904 save percentage) and has gone 1-1-0 in that time. He appeared in just four regular-season contests for the Canucks, putting forth a 2.47 goals-against average and an .881 Sv% but managed to go 3-0-1 in the process. The Canucks can close out the series with a win on Friday night in Nashville.

Arturs Silovs Back In The Net Wednesday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs will once again be between the pipes for Wednesday's contest against the visiting Arizona Coyotes. It's the first time in his young career that Silovs has made consecutive starts as he has out-played the struggling Casey DeSmith of late. The 23-year-old has won all three of his starts this season, working to a quality 2.00 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage that time. Add in his work from last season and the youngster sports a 2.47 GAA alongside a .908 save percentage across the first eight starts of his career. The Canucks will look to extend their three-point lead over the Edmonton Oilers for the top spot in the Pacific Division.

Arturs Silovs Likely To Start Monday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs was the first goaltender off the ice in the team's morning skate on Monday, suggesting he will be the starter for this evening's game against the visiting Vegas Golden Knights. Silovs and Casey DeSmith have been alternating starts of late with Thatcher Demko sidelined but Silovs has been the superior of the two as DeSmith has taken a 6-3 loss in each of his last two outings while Silovs has allowed just three goals while winning each of his last two. He has posted a 1.50 goals-against average and a tidy .930 save percentage in his two NHL games this season after working to a 2.74 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 33 outings with AHL Abbotsford.

Arturs Silovs Set For NHL Debut

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs will make his NHL debut Wednesday versus the Rangers. The 21-year-old Latvian is getting a look in the big league after impressing in the AHL with a 21-9-4 record and three shutouts. He has allowed 2.48 goals per game with a .906 save percentage. The Canucks have struggled badly on the defensive end all season, so Silovs can expect to have a busy debut. Especially against a team like the Rangers, who are full of firepower and average 3.32 goals per game.
