"I've been out for almost 12 weeks, so I think just getting your conditioning back, getting up to speed with the group, getting some line rushes, getting some touches. Because it's a completely different game when you're just skating by yourself. Maroon has tallied four goals and 16 points in 49 games for the Wild this season.

The Bruins acquired the veteran prior to the March 8 trade deadline in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2026 along with forward prospect Luke Toporowski. He also led the NHL with 150 penalty minutes last season.

The team moved Maroon to Injured Reserve on Monday.

Maroon now has seven points (one goal, six assists) for the year, and he's done all of his scoring across the last six games. The 35-year-old is cashing in from landing a spot on the second line. He's been covering for Matt Boldy (upper body), who's been out for seven games. Boldy's return is reportedly close, but Maroon could still get some further top-six action on Thursday when there's a rematch scheduled with New Jersey.

The Minnesota Wild have acquired veteran winger Pat Maroon in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was shipped out on Sunday along with minor-league forward Max Cajkovic for a seventh-round pick in next year's draft. As part of the deal, the Lightning will retain 20 percent of Maroon's $1 million salary. The 35-year-old had a very successful time in Tampa, winning two Stanley Cups in four years, while playing an effective game as a fourth-liner. However, the team is now looking to add more speed to the lineup and this made Maroon disposable. He will add veteran leadership and physical presence to the Wild squad.
