Pat Maroon Practices For First Time With Bruins Monday

Boston Bruins forward Pat Maroon practiced for the first time with the Bruins on Monday after the club acquired him from the Minnesota Wild at the trade deadline. The veteran remains week to week while recovering from back surgery that took place on Feb. 6. He was skating on his own prior to Monday and last played on Jan. 27 for the Wild. "I just think, for me, [I've] just got to keep going," Maroon said. "I've been out for almost 12 weeks, so I think just getting your conditioning back, getting up to speed with the group, getting some line rushes, getting some touches. Because it's a completely different game when you're just skating by yourself. Maroon has tallied four goals and 16 points in 49 games for the Wild this season.

Pat Maroon Remains Week-To-Week For Bruins

Boston Bruins forward Pat Maroon remains week to week after undergoing back surgery on Feb. 7 while with the Minnesota Wild. The Bruins acquired the veteran prior to the March 8 trade deadline in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2026 along with forward prospect Luke Toporowski. "He's not even skating yet, so it's week to week," Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said Wednesday,"... The professionals that we have think the best thing is to gradually bring him back onto the ice." The bottom-six winger recorded four goals and 16 points across 49 games with the Wild this season and is a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Tampa Bay Lightning and St. Louis Blues. He also led the NHL with 150 penalty minutes last season.

Maroon has had a solid campaign with the Wild, amassing 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) with 60 hits in 49 games while averaging 12:48 of ice time. The team moved Maroon to Injured Reserve on Monday.

Pat Maroon Continues To See Success On Second Line

Minnesota Wild left wing Pat Maroon kept his good run of form going on Sunday with a two-point performance against the New Jersey Devils. The three-time Stanley Cup champion contributed a goal and an assist in a 4-3 loss. Maroon now has seven points (one goal, six assists) for the year, and he's done all of his scoring across the last six games. The 35-year-old is cashing in from landing a spot on the second line. He's been covering for Matt Boldy (upper body), who's been out for seven games. Boldy's return is reportedly close, but Maroon could still get some further top-six action on Thursday when there's a rematch scheduled with New Jersey.

Lightning Trade Pat Maroon To Wild

The Minnesota Wild have acquired veteran winger Pat Maroon in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was shipped out on Sunday along with minor-league forward Max Cajkovic for a seventh-round pick in next year's draft. As part of the deal, the Lightning will retain 20 percent of Maroon's $1 million salary. The 35-year-old had a very successful time in Tampa, winning two Stanley Cups in four years, while playing an effective game as a fourth-liner. However, the team is now looking to add more speed to the lineup and this made Maroon disposable. He will add veteran leadership and physical presence to the Wild squad.
