Week 11 Fantasy Reactions
Did we have some weird games this week or am I going crazy? 8-1 Vikings don’t score a touchdown? 8-1 Eagles barely get a win? Najee Harris had a resurrection. Samaje Perine scored 3 touchdowns. Justin Jefferson was essentially shut down and Brandon Aiyuk averaged a touchdown pass per reception. Weird things all around the league. Let’s hop into it!
Quick Links
Packers vs Titans
Well, that’s two straight weeks Rodgers has connected for 2 or more TDs with Christian Watson. That’s a good sign for both their fantasy outlooks. Rodgers threw for 227 yards with 2 TDs so he had a decent day. I’ll take 19 points from Rodgers thank you very much. Christian Watson was the high scorer for the Packers with 21 points. 4 catches for 48 yards and the 2 TDs mentioned previously. Randall Cobb was active, and of course, he connected on 6 catches for 73 yards. Solid 13.3 points for the vet. The run game is still slacking, Aaron Jones only had 40 yards. Luckily, his passing work saved his week. He scored 14 points. A.J. Dillon continues to unimpress. Packers are still stinky cheese.
The Titans definitely enjoyed having a healthy Ryan Tannehill and Treylon Burks back on the field. Burks had a great day. He caught 7 balls for 111 yards. No TD but it will come! Solid 18 points in his return. He probably would have caught a TD if it weren’t for Austin Hooper hawking 2 TDs in the redzone. Hooper wound up with 19.6 points. Second on the team behind you know who…Derrick Henry. Henry racked up 25 fantasy points. 86 rushing yards, 45 receiving yards, and 2 TDs to go with it. Did I mention one of his TDs was a passing TD? Yep. That was one of Hoopers catches. Titans move on to 7-3 and look extremely good right now.
Bears vs Falcons
The Bears may be 3-8, but they have lost 5 games each by less than 5 points. Chicago is close to turning it around, and Justin Fields is leading that charge. Fields had another great week. He scored 22 points and had another huge rushing day with 85 yards and a score. Passing-wise, he only had 150 yards and 1 TD pass to Darnell Mooney. Mooney had just under 13 points this week, but at least he found the endzone. The yearly David Montgomery league-winning span is beginning. He dominated, scoring 21 points off his 121 scrimmage yards and TD. Love to see it! Cole Kmet had an awesome catch but only scored 6.5 points this week. I’m just glad to see fantasy-relevant Bears players!
Atlanta was able to get the win, but it was not easy by any means. Kyle Pitts went down early in the third quarter, and it turns out he tore his MCL. His season is over. You hate to see that. Such a young, promising athlete. He’ll be back. Marcus Mariota was really the only productive fantasy asset for the Falcons. He scored 17 points and 10 of them were from TDs. One passing and one rushing. 17 points for Mariota. The only other Falcon with fantasy relevance was Cordarrelle Patterson and his 12 points. He took a kick return to the house, which very much helped his production this week. Atlanta gets the win but loses an important piece of the offense in Kyle Pitts.
Browns vs Bills
While we were robbed of a Snow Bowl, we did get to see a solid game. Ford Field was so kind to host this game. The Browns came out firing. Cleveland was up 10-3 until 5 minutes left in the first half. From then on, it was all Bills until the 4th quarter. We finally saw Amari Cooper break his home/away game imbalance. Until week 11, Cooper had less than 5 points in every away game. We saw him SQUASH that this week. He scored 31 points and had 113 receiving yards and 2 TDs. Hell of a day. Brissett wound up with 25 points and the only other fantasy asset was Donovan Peoples-Jones with 17 points. If he is on your waiver wires, add him. Never know if he will be Deshaun’s favorite target when he takes over at QB.
The Bills came out slower than most expected. Stefon Diggs was visibly frustrated in the first half. He only had 1 target or something like that up to that point. Josh Allen had a rare game fo 12 fantasy points. Very unusual for him. Only 197 passing yards and 1 passing TD. I wonder if it was the unusual week and playing at a neutral site or if the injury really is still bothering him. Oh well. Stefon Diggs wound up with 4 for 48 and wide open TD (14.8 pts). Devin Singletary was the leader in fantasy points for the Bills this week. He wound up with 86 rushing yards and a TD (17.7 points). Bills get the win, but the Dolphins remain in 1st place of the AFC East.
Colts vs Eagles
If nothing else, Jeff Saturday has made this Colts team rally behind them. They may be 4-6-1 but they are fighting for their new coach. This game wound up 17-16 in favor of the Eagles, but the Colts held their own this entire game. Jonathan Taylor did his thing again, ruhsing for 84 yards and a TD. Good for 16.4 fantasy points. Who knew the key to the Colts offense was to feed their beast of a RB. Who would of thunk?! Michael Pittman Jr. had a decent day catching 6 balls for 75 yards. Simply missing the touchdown to propel his week to another level. 13.5 points for MPJ. Parris Campbell continues to be successful in this offense. He put up 11.7 points from 5 catches for 67 yards. If you ask me, the Colts look like a completely different team under Jeff Saturday…
The Eagles had a weird day. They could not get much going on offense. Jalen Hurts only had 190 passing yards and 1 passing TD. He did however have 86 rushing yards and a TD. So while he did have a good fantasy day (24 points), his real-life outlook wasn’t as great. Doesn’t matter all that much because they won, but still worth pointing out! DeVonta Smith led the Eagles in receiving with 6 catches for 78 yards (13.8 pts). It wasn’t A.J. Brown’s week. He caught 5 passes for 60 yards, but didn’t find the end zone and had a fumble. Not ideal. Only 9 points for him this week. If for some odd reason you played Quez Watkins, you were one happy camper when he found the end zone. 11 points for Mr. Watkins. The Eagles move on to 9-1.
Jets vs Patriots
An AFC East barn burner. 10-3 was the final score of this game. The Jets had 103 yards of total offense. In the entire game. No, I am not lying to you. How are they 6-4 again? There isn’t much to recap here. Zach Wilson was the high scorer with 5.6 points. YIKES. 77 pasing yards and 26 rushing yards. Yes, that is a QB’s stat line. Like I said, not much else to dissect here. Jets fall to last in the AFC East.
Really the only thing that put the Patriots overtop the Jets (besides the game-winning punt return TD) was the running backs. Rhamondre finished with 78 total yards and Damien Harris in his return had 65 yards. Harris averaged 8.1 yards per carry. That’s something worth monitoring going forward. I wonder if Harris will take back control of the RB room? They both led the Patriots in fantasy points. Stevenson with 14.2 and Harris with 11.3. Both were just missing a TD for a great day. Despite being a gross game, the Patriots steal a win and move out of last place in the division.
Rams vs Saints
The fact that the Rams own the Super Bowl just under 10 months ago and they’re this bad is unfortunate. They’ve lost countless offensive linemen, their star WR just underwent surgery and their backfield is a ghost town. There’s no firepower on offense. Stafford led them with 14.76 fantasy points on his 159 passing yards and 2 TD day. Not great. Cam Akers actually had a decent day compared to the rest of his season. He has 64 rushing yards. Like I said, compared to the rest of his season. Allen Robinson came out of the woods and scored 14 on 4 catches for 47 yards and a TD. Welcome back ARob! Not much fantasy production otherwise from the Rams offense.
The Saints had a cleaner day. Andy Dalton made some big plays. Dalton wound up with 260 yards and 3 TDs (22.2 pts). One deep ball to Chris Olave for a TD. Chris Olave had 5 catches for 102 yards and the TD previous mentioned. 21 points for the rook as he continues to impress. Juwan Johnson (TE) has now had 3 straight weeks of 12+ fantasy points. A touchdown in each game. Something to keep an eye on. Stash him if you can. He had 3 catches for 47 yards and a score this week (13.7 pts). Alvin Kamara had a quieter day. Only 12.9 points and a lot of them were form his 4 catches for 47 yards. Saints grab another win and Jameis Winston continues to be disrespected by the Saints coaching staff.
Giants vs Lions
I’m just now seeing the box score for this game and I did not realize Wan’Dale Robinson racked up 100 yards in 3 quarters. His injury is a such a bummer. He clearly was establishing a role in that offense and now it’s ruined. I hate Metlife. He was able to score 19 points before leaving the game, and I imagine a lot of people played him this week due to byes and injuries. Daniel Jones was the high scorer on the Giants. He scored 24.6 points from 341 passing yards and 50 rushing yards. Also had a passing TD and rushing TD to go with nearly 400 yards of offense. Unbelievable that the G men lost this game. Makes sense, however, because Saquon only had 22 rushing yards (5.5 pts). Not ideal for the Giants offense. Richie James is someone I would be picking up off waivers this week.
If anyone out there had Jamaal Williams scoring 10+ TDs, please DM me on Twitter. Jamaal is basically the RB1 in Detroit now. I thought for sure D’Andre Swift was going to be the starter, Obviously, he got hurt, but even being back healthy Jamaal Williams is leading the backfield. Had 3 TDs this week yet again and 64 rushing yards to go with it. Huge 24 point day for the vet. Swift is still plenty involved. 20 rush yards, 3 catches and a TD to go with it. 12.2 points for the sophomore. Amon-Ra St. Brown led the Lions in receiving, but there really wasn’t much of an air attack. St. Brown caught 7 passes for 76 yards. Was unable to find the end zone this week which stunk. He still managed to score 15 points so he didn’t hurt your lineup whatsoever. The Lions squeaked out this win and move to 4-6 this season.
Panthers vs Ravens
This is going to be another short recap because this game was horrendous. The Panthers scored 3 points. How is Baker Mayfield that bad? 196 yards and 2 TDs. Literally 5 fantasy points. What a joke. We need P.J. Walker back ASAP. Terrace Marshall led the Panthers in fantasy points. 10.6 on his 3 catches for 76 yards. D’Onta Foreman had a whopping 24 yards and D.J. Moore caught 3 balls for 24 yards. Identical terrible days. Panthers lose another one. We’re this much closer to a C.J. Stroud/Bryce Young led Panthers team!
The Ravens really didn’t look any better. Lamar Jackson stunk. I mean- 209 passing yards isnt bad, but he only had 31 rush yards to go with it so that’s a quiet day for Lamar’s world. If for some reason you played Demarcus Robinson this week you were pretty happy! He led the Ravens with 21.8 points. And of course I faced him in a league where I needed to win. Mark Andrews didn’t hurt your lineup with 12.3 points but he most likely brought your ceiling down. Just a weird game all around. Lots of defense points. The Ravens defense hit 16 this week. 4th highest defensive score this week (pre MNF).
Texans vs Commanders
For the most part, this was a really bland game to watch. The Texans didn’t put any points up until almost halfway through the third quarter. Hell, the first drive Davis Mills threw an interception that the Commanders took back for a touchdown. Down 7-0 real quick. Not to mention, Dameon Pierce only had 2 rushing yards at half. He ended up with only 8…tough (5 fantasy points). Truly, it was a horrific day for the Texans. Leading fantasy scorer was Brandin Cooks with 10 points off 3 catches for 70 yards. Nico Collins continues to look solid, I will say. But, Davis Mills is going to need to sharpen his game and the offensive line struggled. The Commanders defensive line LIVED in the Texans’ backfield.
Washington had a much better day. At least, in terms of real life. Their highest fantasy scorer was Antonio Gibson with 13.3 points. It makes sense, though. They didn’t need to be aggressive on offense because their defense was dominating. Gibson had 72 yards rushing and 3 catches for 31 yards to go with it, which made up his 13.3 points. Logan Thomas reappeared and was second in scoring. His 5 catches for 65 yards were good for 11.5 points. However, he is only rostered on 6.5% of leagues on ESPN, so he didn’t help anyones team most likely. Coach Rivera says Heinicke is the starter going forward, if you are in need of a tight end, Thomas might be worth adding. 10 targets in the last two games is nothing to scoff at. He was a redzone TD away from an 18-point week. The only offensive touchdown came from Curtis Samuel on an end-around run play. Good to see Samuel continue his success in the fantasy realm. McLaurin managers, don’t fret. The offense didn’t NEED to pass the ball. Simple wasn’t McLaurin’s week. He will bounce back.
Broncos vs Raiders
This was another game I didn’t see a lot of on redzone. Probably because the Raiders only scoring plays were deep ball TD passes to Davante Adams. Who finished as the WR1 this week with 33 points. 7 catches for 141 yards and 2 TDs for the vet. We also saw yet another game of Josh Jacobs finishing with 100+ rush yards. He also had 3 catches for 51 yards and a total of 19 fantasy points. Carr had a solid game. 300 passing yards and 2 TDs. No interceptions, either. Love to see that. I’m happy for Derek Carr after we saw the emotion he had after their tough loss last week. He’s a fighter and I’m rooting for him to succeed! Mack Hollins will probably be a solid flex play the rest of the season. He had 11 points on 6 catches for 52 yards.
Denver didn’t have a great day. Latavius Murray did, though! He scored 17 fantasy points thanks to his 49 rush yards, 4 catches and TD. Big day for the vet. Slight fall off after him. Courtland Sutton put up 13 points off 5 catches for 80 yards. I really wish he found the end zone this week. Would have been a huge week. If only Russell Wilson could get in gear. Not the best day for Wilson. 247 passing yards and that’s about it. 10 points for the vet. Did you know he has more bathrooms in his house than he has passing touchdowns this year? Fun fact for ya that I saw on the Twitterverse. I needed a bigger day from Greg Dulcich. He only managed to score 7 points but I needed 12+ from him. Oh well. Broncos stink yet again. 3-7 after spending $250 million on a QB…
Vikings vs Cowboys
This game went 180 degrees in the opposite direction than I thought it would. 40-3 Cowboys??? The Vikings got STOMPED. It was the Tony Pollard show this week. Pollard scored 37 fantasy points! He had 80 yards rushing, 6 catches for 109 yards receiving and 2 receiving TDs. Hell of a day. Heck, even Zeke had a great day. 42 yards on the ground and 2 TDs to go with it. Solid 17.7 from the vet. Dak had a good day. 276 passing yards and 2 TDs to go with it (20.6 fantasy points). CeeDee Lamb went to the moon last week, but came back to earth here. Only 5 catches for 45 yards this week (9.5 pts). To be fair, he basically wasn’t needed! The Vikings couldn’t stop Tony Pollard!
There’s not much to say about the Vikings. T.J. Hockenson was the teams’ high-scorer with 8.4 points. Just gross. How does a team that’s 8-1 go score 3 points?? I am legitimately confused about that. Dalvin Cook put up 72 rushing yards (7.2 pts), which was about the only successful aspect on the field outside of 5 catches for 34 yards. Very odd that the best wide receiver in the league can only get 3 catches for 33 yards. Seems like that’s where the Vikings should have hyper-focused to get things going. But what do I know? I’m just some guy writing about fantasy football. Vikings suffer their second loss of the season and hopefully we don’t see this offense again.
Steelers vs Bengals
This game is always a blast for me because my core friend group is split between Bengals and Steelers fans. And then I’m the odd ball Dolphins fan in central Ohio. Either way, we got a great game between these two teams. We even saw 2021 Najee Harris! He had 90 rushing yards,4 catches, and 2 TDs. 27.6 points for the sophomore running back. Love to see it. George Pickens had another impressive stat line. 18.3 points off 4 catches for 83 yards and TD. Could have been a monster game but he dropped a deep TD pass late in the game that probably would have put him at 30 points. Tough. Kenny Pickett had 265 yards with a TD for 16 points. Another solid week for the 2nd year tight end Pat Freiermuth, 8 catches for 79 yards (15.9 pts).
The Bengals got the win this time around. They can thank Samaje Perine for stepping up in a huge way once Joe Mixonw as declared out with a concussion (or head injury, I’m not entirely sure if it was specifically a concussion or not). Perine had 3 receiving TDs on the day! He scored 30 fantasy points. Incredible work from the back up. Tee Higgins also had a big day. 9 catches for 148 yards. No touchdown, but still managed to score 23.8 points. Joe Burrow also played really well. 355 passing yards and 4 TDs but 2 INT’s that are uncalled for and really need to be figured out. He can’t keep throwing it to defensive linemen who stick their hands up and bat the ball down. Let alone allowing them to intercept it. Cincinnati moves to 6-4 and look to make a second-half of the season push as playoffs are around the corner.
Chargers vs Chiefs
Well, we saw the Steelrs/Bengals game get flexed out of Sunday night football for this game, and really, it could have been left alone. I understand why the NFL did it, but oh well. Joshua Palmer was the Chargers best player this week. He scored 30 fantasy points off 8 catches for 106 yards and 2 TDs. Huge day for the 2nd year player! Austin Ekeler didn’t have the prototypical Ekeler day, but he did well. 18 points on 83 rush yards and a TD. It didn’t hurt your lineup, but you were hoping for a big week from Ekeler. Justin Herbert had a decent day. 280 passing yards and 2 TDs but threw a costly interception late in the game. Solid 19 points from Herbert. Mike Williams was active but got hurt again, and Keenan Allen was on a snap count, which allowed Joshua Palmer to thrive. Still got 12.4 points from Keenen, however.
The Chiefs were victorious in this matchup and that is very much due to Travis Kelce and his 3 TDs. 6 catches for 115 to go with it from the veteran tight end. Massive 35.5 points from Kelce. Got me a much-needed win in a big-money league! Love to see it. Patrick Mahomes went off. 329 passing yards and 3 TDs to go with it. Solid day at the office for Patty. We also saw the rookie, Isaiah Pacheco, rack up over 100 rush yards for 10.7 points. Looks like he may have secured the starting role going forward. Skyy Moore finally had a decent game, but I doubt that one continues. Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster were both inactive. Chiefs keep on rollin’ and I’m going to say they now look like the certified best team in the AFC.
Cardinals vs 49ers
This game got ugly. The Cardinals clearly missed Kyler Murray. Rondale Moore got hurt on the first play, which turn into a big game from Greg Dortch. He had 9 catches for 103 yards, good for 19 points. DeAndre Hopkins also had a good day. He caught 9 for 91 yards (18 points) but didn’t hit pay dirt this week. He definitely misses Kyler tossing the rock. James Conner had a decent day. He is clearly a workhorse kind of back because the Cardinals have no depth. Conner had 54 yards and a TD (13.4 points). Not an ideal week for the Cardinals. Snag Trey McBride off waivers if you need a TE. He was targeted 4 times and could be a solid streamer going forward.
The 49ers did basically anything they wanted on Monday night football. Jimmy G had 228 passing yards with 4 TDs on top of that. Love to see that. Solid 25 points for Jimmy G. Christian McCaffrey had a good day. He scored 17 points and most of that was due to his 7 catches. Not much rushing work for CMC. Elijah Mitchell is still getting his fair share of rush attempts, something to monitor going forward. George Kittle was the story of the night. He caught 4 passes for 84 yards and 2 TDs. Huge 24 points week from Kittle! We also saw Brandon Aiyuk have a big day. He caught 2 TD passes, which were his only catches. Got him to 16 points on the week. We also saw Deebo get back in the action. 22 points from all kinds of action! He looked great. And he found the end zone. Great win by the 49ers.
