Royals Acquire Andrew Susac

The Kansas City Royals acquired catcher Andrew Susac from the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations. Susac has hit just .221/.283/.373 with seven home runs and 35 RBI in five big league seasons with the Giants, Brewers and Orioles and will merely be depth for KC with Salvador Perez out for the season. Cam Gallagher and Martin Maldonado are the Royals current two catchers on the major league roster.

Andrew Susac Gets Hit In First Game As Oriole

Baltimore Orioles catcher Andrew Susac, who replaced the optioned Caleb Joseph on the roster, surely got a thrill when he got his first hit in an Oriole uniform off David Price on Thursday night. Overall, it did nothing, since the Red Sox lefty pretty much cruised the entire game, but it did keep Susac from finishing with a hittless performance. Susac is really only an option in deep two-catcher formats.

Andrew Susac Called Up to Replace Caleb Joseph

Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, and Andrew Susac was called up in a corresponding move to take the struggling Joseph's spot. Joseph was only hitting .182 with a .203 on-base percentage, while Susac currently has a .296/.424/.537 line with Triple-A Norfolk. Susac will split time behind the plate with the also-struggling Chance Sisco. None of Baltimore's catchers make palatable fantasy options at this point in the season.

Orioles Option Andrew Susac to Minors

Baltimore Orioles catcher Andrew Susac was optioned to the Minors, which gives Chance Sisco the backup catching job behind Caleb Joseph. While none of these are totally palatable, the state of catching dictates that you should at least monitor Sisco to consider picking him up in a two-catcher league.

Andrew Susac To Be Released From Hospital

Baltimore Orioles catcher Andrew Susac will be released from the hospital after battling a staph infection. Rich Dubroff of PressBoxOnline said that he was going to be staying at home for a few days. From a fantasy standpoint, the 27-year-old Susac might lose a few days in his battle with Chance Sisco for the backup position, but there's still plenty of time to monitor him and see how he does and then ponder a late pick in a two-catcher league.

Andrew Susac In Hospital

Baltimore Orioles catcher Andrew Susac is dealing with a staph infection, and Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Monday that Susac will continue to be monitored at the hospital for the next 24 to 48 hours. It was revealed on Sunday that Susac is dealing with a possible staph infection. There is no clear timetable for his return. Susac was expected to compete with Chance Sisco for the backup catcher job this spring, but he's going to get a late start at the very least.

Andrew Susac Dealing With Staph Infection

Baltimore Orioles catcher Andrew Susac will be shut down for at least three to four days with a possible staph infection. This is a poor start to camp with a new team. Hopefully Susac will wind up being fine, but for now the Orioles will have to bring in some catchers from the minor league side of camp.

Andrew Susac Acquired By Orioles

Milwaukee Brewers catcher Andrew Susac was acquired by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, according to Roch Kubatko on MASN Sports. The 27-year-old Susac ranked among the game's top-100 prospects on multiple lists prior to the 2015 campaign, but he has struggled over the past couple of seasons. In 274 MLB plate appearances, Susac has batted just .232/.299/.396 with an alarming 82 strikeouts against 23 walks. He will fight with Caleb Joseph, Chance Sisco and Austin Wynns for the starting catcher's role in Baltimore. Susac was designated for assignment by Milwaukee last week, and the Brewers will get a player to be named later or cash in the deal.

Brent Suter and Andrew Susac Actvated Friday

The Milwaukee Brewers activated Brent Suter and Andrew Susac from their 10-day disabled list stints. Andrew Susac will become the healthy backup to Stephen Vogt while Manny Pina is ailing and then their relationship to each other in the hierarchy will be figured out when they need to. Susac will be limited to value in deep leagues or NL-only formats. Brent Suter could start as soon as Sunday versus Washington. He is talented and desirable in dynasty leagues. Washington has a vaunted offense that makes it hard to recommend him in daily but the Brewers have held them to a combined three runs in the first two games of the series.

Brent Suter and Andrew Susac Have Strong Outings Thursday

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brent Suter and catcher Andrew Susac had strong games Thursday in the minors. Brent Suter pitched three scoreless innings while Susac hit a two-run HR. The plan is to activate them Friday when the rosters expand. Susac will return as a backup catcher and, unless Manny Pina continues to be unable to play for an extended time, Susac likely requires a deep league or NL-only format to be relevant. Brent Suter is extremely talented and is coveted in dynasty leagues.
