The Minnesota Twins have signed right-handed pitcher Daniel Gossett to a minor league deal. In two seasons with the Oakland Athletics from 2017-18, Gossett recorded a 5.91 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, 84 strikeouts and 39 walks in 115 2/3 innings over 23 starts. He spent the 2021 season at Triple-A Worcester in the Boston Red Sox organization and went 7-5 with a 4.22 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 81 strikeouts and 46 walks in 98 innings pitched over 20 appearances (18 starts). The 29-year-old didn't pitch at all in the shortened 2020 season and only made five appearances in 2019 in the Arizona Fall League. Gossett will give the Twins some pitching depth in the minor leagues in 2022.
The Oakland Athletics placed starting pitcher Daniel Gossett (elbow) on the 60-day injured list on Friday, making room for newly signed outfielder Robbie Grossman on the 40-man roster. Gossett, who went 0-3 with a 5.18 ERA across 24 1/3 innings in five starts last season is likely to miss a good chunk of the season, with perhaps a September return date as the most realistic timetable. As such, fantasy owners need not bother with him on Draft Day. He has posted a 5.91 ERA in 23 major league appearances, so he is a risky fantasy play even when healthy.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daniel Gossett (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery on Wednesday to fix the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. The right-hander went 0-3 with a 5.18 ERA with 12 strikeouts in five starts for the team this year. He'll likely miss all of next season as well, meaning he won't be fantasy relevant until at least 2020.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daniel Gossett (elbow) remains in shutdown mode after he suffered a setback on his rehab assignment. There remains no timetable for his return, and you shouldn't hold out hope for him in the second half. Gossett hasn't pitched since June 3 in the big leagues and had a 5.18 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and extremely poor 4.4 K/9 over five starts (24 1/3 innings).
Daniel Gossett Heads To 10-Day DL Tuesday; Josh Phegley Recalled
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daniel Gossett was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday with a flexor muscle strain after undergoing an MRI on his right elbow. Backup catcher Josh Phegley was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Paul Blackburn, who has been out since spring training with a forearm strain, appears to be the guy who will take Gossett's spot in the rotation. The A's starting rotation has been plagued with injuries this season, and a good deal of shuffling has been necessary. While impactful for the A's team, these moves are not actionable for fantasy players, given that none of these players are all that rosterable except in maybe the deepest of leagues. Blackburn is one to watch in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues, though, if you're in need of pitching help.
Daniel Gossett Pulled From Start With Elbow Tightness
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daniel Gossett left his start on Sunday after five innings pitched with elbow tightness, per San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. The 25-year-old was cruising before he exited, giving up one run on two hits and two walks with a strikeout. He will return to Oakland on Monday for a precautionary MRI. If Gossett needs a DL stint, right-hander Chris Bassitt is likely to be recalled. Hopefully, Gossett's MRI Monday will shed more light on his situation and the situation of the A's rotation.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daniel Gossett will draw the start on Wednesday against the Mariners, per MLB.com's Jane Lee. The A's have had to juggle their rotation recently with both Andrew Triggs (forearm) and Brett Anderson (shoulder) being placed on the disabled list. The young right-hander got knocked around in his two MLB starts this season, posting an ugly 11.05 ERA. However, he has posted a stellar 1.63 ERA in 38 2/3 innings pitched for Triple-A Nashville. Regardless, fantasy players should avoid him Wednesday night.
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daniel Gossett (back) will long toss from 120 feet Sunday. Gossett has had some early-camp back tightness, but it is no big deal. He is expected to get into a Cactus League game soon.
A.J. Puk to Start in Place of Daniel Gossett on Sunday
Oakland A's left-hander A.J. Puk will start Sunday's spring training game in place of right-hander Daniel Gossett(back). Gossett is dealing with some back tightness and will be scratched. Gossett struggled mightily in his first taste of the majors, going 4-11 with a 6.11 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP. He is not a strong fantasy option this season, even if he makes the rotation out of camp. Puk is still a few years away from being a fantasy force, but the young left-hander is one of Oakland's top prospects.
Oakland Athletics pitcher Daniel Gossett will be called up to start for the Athletics on Wednesday in Baltimore. Gossett looked sharp in his last major league start August 2 against the Giants, allowing one run on three hits in seven innings and he has been good this year at Triple-A, posting a 3.66 ERA in 76 1/3 innings. Camden Yards can be a dangerous place for fantasy streamers, so fantasy owners need to be wary, and he does have a 5.17 ERA in 54 innings this season. The 24-year-old right-hander should get more rotation assignments down the stretch and might have mixed-league appeal in some of those.
