Peters did not make an appearance for the Marlins in his most recent stint in the majors, leaving his season totals at a 6.31 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 25 2/3 innings. Despaigne has not pitched since April 19 after landing on the disabled list with a right forearm strain. Over eight appearances this season prior to his injury, Despaigne had allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 16 hits and four walks with 12 strikeouts over 14 2/3 innings. The Marlins will hope that Despaigne's return will provide support to a bullpen prone to imploding, but fantasy owners should not look to add Despaigne in any leagues.
Adam Conley, Dillon Peters Recalled by Marlins Friday
The Marlins recalled left-handed pitchers Adam Conley and Dillon Peters from Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro. Conley and Peters join Miami after the team optioned reliever Tyler Cloyd to Triple-A and designated reliever Junichi Tazawa for assignment on Thursday. Conley and Peters had both been part of the New Orleans rotation, but for now will pitch out of the bullpen for the Marlins. These two likely won't have much value outside of deep NL-only leagues or leagues that count holds in scoring.
Miami Marlins starter Dillon Peters got absolutely wrecked on Saturday after giving up nine earned runs in less than three innings against the Phillies. Peters, who entered the start following a a seven-inning shutout in his previous start, surrendered two grand slams against the Phillies before the third inning was over. Peters was promptly removed after the second grand slam, though the Marlins bullpen gave up 11 more runs for a 20-1 loss. On the season, Peters is 1-1 with a 9.35 ERA.
