Kyle Crick News
New York Mets reliever Kyle Crick (calf) is out of his walking boot and is making progress toward throwing. Crick suffered a calf strain in camp two weeks before the opening of spring training, but he thinks he should be game-ready in another three to four weeks. His goal remains breaking camp on a roster in the organization, although he may have to stay back in Port St. Lucie, Fla., to build up beyond the end of spring training. The 31-year-old is in camp with the Mets as a non-roster invitee, so there's no guarantee he'll stick with the organization for the start of the 2024 regular season. He did not pitch with a team in 2023 and is out of minor-league options.

Kyle Crick Could Miss All Of Spring Training
New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said that reliever Kyle Crick (calf) could miss all of spring training due to a calf strain. As such, it's unlikely that Crick will make the team's Opening Day roster out of spring training. The 31-year-old right-hander opted out of his minor-league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays last spring and didn't pitch at all for an organization in 2023. In 14 appearances out of the Chicago White Sox's bullpen in 2022, he allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits while walking 11 and striking out 19 in 15 2/3 innings pitched. Crick won't be on the fantasy radar at all this year and holds a career 3.56 ERA (4.16 FIP), a 1.32 WHIP, two saves, 109 walks and 201 strikeouts in 187 1/3 innings over 194 relief appearances in six major-league seasons with the White Sox, San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Kyle Crick Signs Minor-League Deal With Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays have signed relief pitcher Kyle Crick to a minor-league contract. The right-hander will receive an invitation to Spring Training. He only made 14 appearances last season before he underwent season-ending elbow surgery. It's uncertain if he'll be fully healthy heading into camp. Regardless, the former first round pick will get a chance to earn a roster spot. Crick hasn't experienced much success in the MLB since the 2018 season, so we'll see if this gamble pays off for Tampa Bay.

White Sox Sign Reliever Kyle Crick
The Chicago White Sox have signed relief pitcher Kyle Crick to a minor league deal. He was designated for assignment by the Pittsburgh Pirates, but surprisingly didn't draw any interest. The righty reliever will now get a chance with a new organization. Crick has posted a 4.43 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 24.3 innings with the Pirates this season. He'll likely head to Triple-A, but should contribute to the White Sox roster at some point. However, he'll likely pitch in low leverage spots, so he can be avoided in fantasy formats.

Pirates Acquire Dillon Peters, DFA Kyle Crick
The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired left-hander Dillon Peters from the Los Angeles Angels on Monday and have assigned him to Triple-A Indianapolis. In a corresponding move, the team designated right-hander Kyle Crick for assignment. Peters has not pitched in the big leagues this year and allowed three earned runs on two homers in just 1 2/3 innings with the Angels last year. The 28-year-old southpaw had a 4.35 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 48/13 K/BB in 41 1/3 innings over eight starts for Triple-A Salt Lake before the trade. There's a chance we see him with Pittsburgh at some point, but he won't be a viable fantasy streamer. Crick has pitched in high-leverage situations for the Bucs before, but he had a 4.44 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 21/19 K/BB in 24 1/3 relief innings for Pittsburgh this year.

Kyle Crick Tosses Scoreless Inning In Season Debut
Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Kyle Crick made his season debut on Sunday, allowing one walk while striking out one in the 4-3 loss to the Cubs. Crick had just rejoined the team after completing intake protocols on Sunday to return from witnessing the birth of his child. Crick is one of several high-leverage, late-inning guys the Pirates have in their bullpen, and he is a solid pitcher to target in SV/HLD formats.

Kyle Crick Rejoins Pirates Sunday
Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Kyle Crick returned to the team on Sunday, according to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Crick had been away from the team for the birth of his child, and had to complete the COVID-19 intake procedures before he could return. He figures to be one of the Pirates' top late-inning relievers, coming off a Spring Training performance in which he posted a 1.35 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings of work. In a corresponding move, the Pirates have optioned reliever Will Crowe to the team's alternate site. Managers in SV/HLD formats should consider targeting Crick, who could be among the first in line for save opportunities if anything happens to current closer Richard Rodriguez.

Kyle Crick Placed On The Injured List
Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Kyle Crick (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day Injured List with a right shoulder/lat muscle strain. The team also placed fellow reliever Clay Holmes (right forearm strain) on the Injured List. They have called up Geoff Hartlieb and Miguel Del Pozo from their alternate team to replace the relievers on the roster. Crick was a candidate for saves with primary closer Keone Kela (COVID-19) on the Injured List. Now, however, Nick Burdi figures to be the top candidate for saves until Kela's return, which for now, has no timetable. Burdi is worth a speculative add in deep leagues where saves are scarce.

Pirates Activate Kyle Crick From Injured List
Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Kyle Crick (triceps) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, the team announced. To make room for the reliever, the Pirates optioned infielder Kevin Kramer to Triple-A Indianapolis. Crick is a welcome re-addition to the Pirates bullpen that has allowed 17 earned runs in the seventh and eighth innings combined this season. In just two appearances this season before getting injured, Crick retired all six batters he faced, including three punchouts. He'll offer plenty of hold opportunities and could even be in the mix for a save if Felipe Vazquez isn't available.

Kyle Crick Headed To Pirates In Andrew McCutchen Deal
Pitching prospect Kyle Crick will head to the Pittsburgh Pirates as part of the Andrew McCutchen deal, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. Crick, 25, was used as a starting pitcher before being moved to the bullpen in 2017. His numbers improved as a reliever for Triple-A Sacramento, and he even appeared in 30 games out of the Giants bullpen this past year. The right-hander struck out 28 batters in 32 1/3 innings while pitching to a 3.06 ERA. Crick is unlikely to hold much fantasy significance, as he will likely work in a bullpen role for the Pirates.
