Donovan Solano Knocks In Four Runs In Victory

Making a rare start, San Diego Padres infielder Donovan Solano went 4-for-5 with four singles and four RBI in Tuesday's victory versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Solano has not gotten much playing time as a bench bat, but he has been productive when called upon. On the season, the veteran is hitting .314 with four homers and 25 RBI in 185 at-bats. Although those numbers are respectable, his limited playing time makes him more valuable to the Padres than for fantasy managers. Unless an injury occurs, the versatile infielder can be left on the waiver wire for now.

Donovan Solano Back At First Base Wednesday Night

Minnesota Twins infielder Donovan Solano will start at first base for Game 4 of the ALDS against the Houston Astros. Solano is taking over for Alex Kirilloff against Jose Urquidy. Kirilloff will often start against righties, but Urquidy has backward splits in his career, prompting the Twins to go with Solano. Solano led off against lefty Framber Valdez on Sunday but he will be hitting eighth against Urquidy.

Donovan Solano Remains Out On Saturday

Minnesota Twins infielder Donovan Solano (knee) is once again not in the lineup on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Donnie Barrels will miss his fourth straight contest after exiting Tuesday's contest early with a right knee sprain. It's unclear if he'll need an IL stint or not at this point but it seems clear that the Twins are hoping he can avoid that scenario with some off days. The veteran infielder is slashing .278/.377/.402 with four home runs and 25 RBI over 310 plate appearances on the season. Rookie Edouard Julien is serving as the Twins' DH on Saturday while veteran Jorge Polanco is covering second base against Taijuan Walker and the Phillies.

Donovan Solano Diagnosed With MCL Sprain

Minnesota Twins infielder Donovan Solano's (knee) MRI exam showed that he has a mild MCL sprain in his right knee after getting injured in Tuesday's game. Nothing showed up on his ankle, but he remains sore on Wednesday and is not in the starting lineup against the Detroit Tigers. It's unknown how long Solano will be out, but the team doesn't view it as a long-term injury. It doesn't mean that the 35-year-old won't go on the injured list, but he should at least be back this season. He's considered day-to-day for the time being while the team waits for the swelling in his knee to subside. Solano is a much better real-life player than a fantasy one. He's currently hitting .278/.377/.402 with only four homers, 25 RBI and 30 runs scored in Minnesota.

Donovan Solano Sprains His Knee

Minnesota Twins infielder Donovan Solano (knee) left Tuesday's game early against the Detroit Tigers with a right-knee sprain. Before leaving, Solano went 1-for-2 with a strikeout to raise his season average to .278. He was replaced at first base by Joey Gallo. The 35-year-old Solano should be considered day-to-day for now, but this is the type of injury that could easily require an injured-list stint. Solano isn't much to look at for fantasy purposes, though, as he came into Tuesday's affair hitting .277/.377/.402 with only four home runs, 25 RBI, no stolen bases and 30 runs scored in 264 at-bats over 99 games in 2023 for the Twins.

Donovan Solano, Michael Taylor Resting Monday

Minnesota Twins second baseman Donovan Solano and outfielder Michael Taylor are both out of the starting lineup on Monday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. Instead, Willi Castro will start at third base and bat sixth, while Trevor Larnach makes the start in right field and hits seventh against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. Solano went hitless in eight at-bats with six strikeouts in two games over the weekend against the Chicago White Sox, so it's a good time for him to catch a breather. The 35-year-old Colombian is hitting .266 (65-for-244) this year with only four homers and 22 RBI in 88 games. Taylor is useful in deeper fantasy leagues for his power/speed combination. He's hitting just .219 on the year with 11 homers and 11 stolen bases.

Donovan Solano Drives In Four Runs Wednesday

On Wednesday, Minnesota Twins infielder Donovan Solano went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI to lead the Twins to an 8-2 victory over the Astros. Solano also was patient at the plate, drawing a walk in the fifth inning, and he crossed home plate with a double by Ryan Jeffers later in the frame. It is worth noting that Solano, the experienced 35-year-old, currently maintains a solid .275 batting average, along with nine RBI in 120 at bats this season.

Twins Agree With Donovan Solano On One-Year Deal

The Minnesota Twins agreed with free-agent infielder Donovan Solano on an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Solano comes to Minnesota after spending the 2022 campaign with the Cincinnati Reds. The 35-year-old veteran hit .284/.339/.385 with a .724 OPS, four home runs, 24 RBI and 304 plate appearances in 80 games played for the Reds. Aside from making a lot of contact and hitting for a respectable average, Solano won't offer much else to the Twins and fantasy managers in a depth role in 2023. In his nine major-league seasons with the Reds, Miami Marlins, New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants, he has a career .278/.327/.374 slash line with a .701 OPS, 27 home runs, 206 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 686 games.

Donovan Solano Activated From 60-Day Injured List

The Cincinnati Reds activated second baseman Donovan Solano (hamstring) from the 60-day injured list on Tuesday. Left-handed pitcher Nick Lodolo (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Solano has been sidelined all season with a left hamstring injury. He signed with the Reds this past offseason after spending three years with the San Francisco Giants. He will be a reserve infielder for the Reds this year. The 34-year-old has slashed .277/.325/.372 over 606 career MLB games.

Donovan Solano Injures His Left Hamstring

Cincinnati Reds infielder Donovan Solano (hamstring) left Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Texas Rangers with a left hamstring injury. Solano injured himself running the bases and walked off the field with a trainer. We don't know the seriousness of the injury just yet, but with Opening Day just over a week away, there's a good chance that he may not be ready for the start of the season. The 34-year-old could have a part-time role on the left side of Cincinnati's infield when healthy, but he won't be much of an asset in mixed leagues. Solano had a nice .280/.344/.404 slash line, a career-high seven home runs, 31 RBI and 35 runs scored in 344 plate appearances over 101 games for the San Francisco Giants in 2021.
