Fantasy managers should monitor his status during spring training as he will likely compete for a spot in the rotation with Joe Musgrove (elbow) sidelined for the entire season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The Mariners have been a pretty good matchup for opposing pitchers so far in 2023, but the game is in the Bronx and Brito hasn't really inspired any fantasy managers as a streamer yet in his rookie campaign.

Brito will look to bounce back in the minors and could get the call to the big leagues later this season, but fantasy managers can move on from the right-hander in most league formats.

New York Yankees right-handed pitcher Jhony Brito had a terrific MLB debut on Sunday, leading the Yanks to a 6-0 win over the San Francisco Giants. Brito went 5 innings in this one, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out six. The rookie averaged 95.3 on his fastball and mixed in a changeup, sinker, curveball, and slider, all of which generated at least one swinging strike. Especially impressive was his changeup, which he threw 37%, managing 11 whiffs on 28 pitches. It was about as good a debut as you can have, and although he'll need to pitch well just to stay in the rotation, he is worth a flier just in case he can keep this up.
