Juan Graterol Traded To Blue Jays For Cash Considerations
Los Angeles Angels catcher Juan Graterol was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for cash consideration on Wednesday, according to Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic. This appears to be a move to create depth at the catcher position for Toronto, as they already have Danny Jansen and Alejandro Kirk on their roster. Graterol has appeared in just 67 games over four years and has a triple-slash line .218/.227/.266 with six doubles and 14 RBI. Managers can safely ignore him in all formats, as he won't have any value unless one or both of Jansen and Kirk go down with injury.
The Cincinnati Reds called up catcher Juan Graterol from Triple-A and he will make his first start of the season on Wednesday against the Cubs. He'll hit eighth in the order as starting catcher Kyle Farmer gets the day off. Graterol has a slash line of .249/.301/.325 with two home runs and 26 RBI across 58 games at Triple-A this year. He joins Curt Casali as a backup to Farmer and may not last long in the big leagues.
