Kaleb Cowart Starting at First Base

Los Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart is starting at first base on Thursday, batting ninth. With Albert Pujols out for the season with a knee injury, Cowart will draw the first start at first. However, Jefry Marte is likely going to draw the majority of starts at first for the time being. Additionally, Francisco Arcia is an option, and the team may recall Jose Fernandez or Matt Thaiss to play there in September. This is a situation to avoid for now.

Kaleb Cowart Starting at Third

Los Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart is starting at third base and batting eighth on Friday. Cowart is starting in place of Luis Valbuena, who is 2-for-16 since July 15. Valbuena normally draws the start against right-handers, but Cowart is getting a chance to face off against Mike Clevinger. Whether this is a sign that Valbuena's job is in jeopardy remains to be seen, but Cowart went 0-for-9 in July and is hitting .071 on the year, so neither are good options outside of very deep leagues.

Kaleb Cowart Called Up

Los Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday. With Ian Kinsler getting traded to Boston, Cowart is likely going to serve as LA's utility infielder. David Fletcher is expected to shift over to second base, with Jefry Marte and Luis Valbuena splitting duty at third. Cowart should see a handful of starts per week up the middle, but does not pose enough playing time to merit a look outside of extremely deep fantasy leagues.

Kaleb Cowart Optioned to Triple-A

Los Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake to make room for Garrett Richards, who is starting on Wednesday. Cowart has been up and down quite a bit this season and is 1-for-8 with a double and two runs scored at the big league level. He hit .225 with four stolen bases in 50 MLB games last year, but unless injuries continue to ravage the Angels infield, expect Cowart to be nothing more than a backup infielder and to be well off the fantasy radar.

Kaleb Cowart Off DL, Sent to Triple-A

Los Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. This is a good sign for David Fletcher owners, as it means his spot on the roster is secure at least for the time being. That could change when Zack Cozart (shoulder) returns from the DL, although there is no firm timetable as to when that will be.

Kaleb Cowart to Begin Rehab Assignment Monday

Los Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart (ankle) is beginning a rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake. Cowart was placed on the DL back on June 8 with a left ankle sprain. Assuming all goes well with his rehab, he could be activated in the middle of the week. With Andrelton Simmons back and David Fletcher up with the club, it's possible Cowart is sent to Triple-A even when he is ready to return. Even if he's up with the big club, don't expect fantasy relevant production.

Kaleb Cowart to DL, Jose Fernandez and Nolan Fontana Recalled

Los Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain. Thirty-year-old infielder Jose Fernandez has been recalled in his place and will start at first base on Friday. Infielder Nolan Fontana has been recalled as well, replacing Shohei Ohtani. Fernandez has a chance to play a fair amount but shouldn't be counted on in fantasy formats just yet.

Kaleb Cowart Demoted to Triple-A

It appears the Los Angeles Angels have sent down infielder Kaleb Cowart and recalled reliever Eduardo Paredes, at least according to their lineup card. Cowart is 0-for-1 with a run scored on the season, having only played in two games. He was recalled for extra infield depth whenZack Cozart was nursing a forearm strain, but with both Cozart and Ian Kinsler healthy, Cowart's path to playing time was blocked. He could see the field again if an injury hits the Angels middle infield.

Kaleb Cowart to Sit Tuesday Afternoon

Angels second baseman Kaleb Cowart will take a seat in Tuesday's game against the Nationals. Cowart is a switch-hitter but has seen the majority of his at-bats against right-handers, whom he is hitting .325 off of. He is only 2-for-10 against left-handers, so he will take a seat against left-hander Gio Gonzalez. Cliff Pennington will start in his place, batting ninth (one spot behind Tuesday's starter, Tyler Skaggs). Cowart has seen the majority of the starts at second base since Danny Espinosa was DFA'd, but he is 1 for his last 19. Cowart has hit .300 since being recalled with 11 runs scored and three stolen bases. He is a useful add in AL-only and deep mixed leagues, especially those with daily roster changes.

Kaleb Cowart To Start Once Again

After going 2-for-4 last night, Los Angeles Angels infielder Kaleb Cowart will start his second straight game at second base. Cowart will bat in the No. 9 spot this evening versus the Cleveland Indians. Cowart saw limited action last year and had three at-bats at the big league level earlier in the season. With his only competition being infielder Cliff Pennington, Cowart has a chance to run away with the job. He hit .311 with 12 home runs and 19 stolen bases in Triple-A this season and is worth keeping an eye on in AL-Only leagues.
