Keon Broxton Reassigned To Minors

Minnesota Twins outfielder Keon Broxton was reassigned to the team's minor league campsite on Saturday. The team also sent down infielders Rob Refsnyder, Tzu-Wei Lin, J.T. Riddle, and catcher Tomas Telis. Broxton was initially thought to be a possible factor in the team's outfield plans in 2021 after a strong spring that saw him bat .320 with two doubles, a home run, and five RBI in 19 games, though the battle for the left-field spot seems to be down to Brent Rooker and Kyle Garlick, with Jake Cave expected to make the team. Utility man Willians Astudillo, who has been swinging a hot bat this spring, seems destined to find a spot on the Opening Day roster after today's news.

Keon Broxton Enjoying Strong Start This Spring

Minnesota Twins outfielder Keon Broxton has been handling the bat very well this spring. A non-roster invitee, Broxton is currently batting .625 in six games with five hits, three runs, three RBI, and a stolen base. The 30-year-old has been getting the barrel of the bat on the ball and crushing it, as his three-run homer Sunday traveled 419 feet at an exit velocity of 110.1 MPH. Broxton has been known more as a defender in his career- though he did hit 20 homers and steal 21 bases with the Brewers in 2017. He could make the Opening Day roster if he keeps hitting like this, though it's no sure thing with Alex Kirilloff, Brent Rooker, Jake Cave, and Kyle Garlick also in the mix.

Keon Broxton Dealing With Personal Matter

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Keon Broxton has been absent from the team due to a personal matter, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Broxton isn't currently in camp, but general manager David Stearns said Thursday that the team expects that he'll be back soon. The 30-year-old is competing for a spot with the major league club. Broxton really doesn't hold much fantasy value, as he's known more for his defense, not his bat. He's avoidable in most leagues.

Keon Broxton Suspended Two Games

Seattle Mariners outfielder Keon Broxton was suspended two games for throwing his equipment at umpire Manny Gonzalez on Monday. Broxton is appealing the suspension and can continue playing until the appeal is heard. It's been a tough year all around for Broxton, and he's hitting just .136 (6-for-44) with two homers, five RBI, 27 strikeouts and five walks in 19 games since joining the M's. He's simply a warm body in deep AL-only leagues and can be ignored everywhere else.

Keon Broxton Hits Solo Home Run Wednesday

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Keon Broxton hit his second home run in his new uniform in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers. The 29-year-old went 1-for-4 with the solo blast and three strikeouts. Despite playing poorly for the Mets earlier in the season, Broxton is now hitting .318 with four RBI and a stolen base in six games since joining the O's. He has flashed signs of possessing a power/speed combo in the past, which makes him an intriguing fantasy option. However, his inability to hit for average (.219 career batting average) significantly limits his upside.

Renato Nunez Out, Keon Broxton Debuting Friday

Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Renato Nunez is not in the starting lineup on Friday. Outfielder Keon Broxton is starting in center field and is batting sixth in his debut with the team this evening. First baseman Chris Davis is also taking a seat on the bench. Rio Ruiz is getting the nod at third base and is hitting fifth in the lineup. Ruiz is hitting .245 (37-for-151) with four home runs and 14 RBI on the year, but he isn't a very attractive fantasy option in any format. Broxton hit under .200 in his time with the Mets this year but should start in center field for Baltimore and could have appeal in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if you're in need of speed.

Keon Broxton To Join Orioles In Colorado

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Keon Broxton is expected to join the team Friday in Colorado after being acquired from the Mets. Joey Rickard was optioned to Triple-A on Thursday to make room for Broxton. Broxton appeared in 34 games with the Mets but garnered only 53 plate appearances, hitting .143 with one double and two RBI. Broxton should see more consistent playing time with the non-contending Orioles, but still does not figure to be much of a fantasy asset.

Orioles Acquire Keon Broxton

The Baltimore Orioles acquired former New York Mets outfielder Keon Broxton in exchange for international bonus slots on Wednesday. Baltimore also acquired pitcher Chandler Shepherd off waivers and optioned him to Triple-A, transferred pitcher Alex Cobb(back) to the 60-day injured list and designated pitcher Yefry Ramirez for assignment. Broxton had only received 53 plate appearances with the Mets and figures to get more consistent playing time with the moribund Orioles. With just a .143/.208/.163 slash line in those 53 plate appearances and now on a weaker team, however, Broxton is not a fantasy asset. Any remaining NL-only owners aren't losing much, and AL-only owners need not rush to pick him up.

Michael Conforto Goes On Seven-Day Injured List

The New York Mets placed catcher Michael Conforto (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list on Friday and designated outfielder Keon Broxton for assignment in a corresponding move. Outfielder Carlos Gomez and relief pitcher Paul Sewald were also called up from Triple-A Syracuse. Broxton was hitting .143/.208/.163 with the Mets. There's a chance Conforto could miss more than a week, so prepare for that possibility. He needs to be stashed in all leagues, though, as the 26-year-old was hitting .271/.406/.521 with nine homers, 27 runs, 21 RBI and three steals. With Broxton now gone, expect J.D. Davis or Jeff McNeil to mix and match in the outfield alongside Gomez, Juan Lagares and Brandon Nimmo. Gomez might be worth a look in NL-only leagues for power potential.

Keon Broxton Unhappy With Playing Time

New York Mets outfielder Keon Broxton expressed his frustration with his lack of playing time on Thursday. He struck out swinging as a pinch-hitter to end the game to drop his average to .143 and OPS to .371. "Im not here to make excuses or anything," Broxton said afterward. "I think everybody in this game knows its really hard to do, come off the bench and do it. Getting one [start] a week, if that. Its definitely tough." The speedy outfielder has started 10 of the team's 42 games this year, but he has failed to produce when he's been in there. You can leave him to the waiver wire in mixed leagues. In the last month, Broxton has one hit and eight strikeouts in 21 at-bats.
