The Kansas City Royals agreed to terms on minor-league deals with right-handers Tyler Duffey and Dan Altavilla, infielder Mike Brosseau and left-hander Sam Long on Thursday. Duffey and Brosseau are the most notable names. The 32-year-old Duffey made only one relief appearance with the Chicago Cubs in the majors in 2023, but he carries nine years of big-league experience with a career 4.57 ERA (3.97 FIP), 1.29 WHIP and six saves in 477 innings pitched. Brosseau, 29, hit just .205 (15-for-73) with four home runs and eight RBI in 29 games for the Milwaukee Brewers this past season before being cut and heading overseas to play in Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan. All four of KC's signings on Thursday will add minor-league depth for the 2024 campaign.

Mike Brosseau Hitting Out Of Leadoff Spot Monday
Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Mike Brosseau is back in the starting lineup on Monday and will hit leadoff against Detroit Tigers left-hander Matthew Boyd. It's the fifth start of the season out of the leadoff spot for Brosseau who specializes in preying on left-handed pitching. The 29-year-old is a career .277 hitter with an .809 OPS in his career off lefties versus a .211 average and .681 OPS against same-handed pitching. It's been a strong start to the season for Brosseau as he'll carry a .798 OPS with two homers, two doubles, and a .258 isolated power across 35 plate appearances into Monday's action.

Mike Brosseau Continues Red-Hot Spring Monday
Milwaukee Brewers infielder Mike Brosseau continued a red-hot spring on Monday, collecting three hits along with two runs scored and a pair of RBI in a Cactus League contest against the Cincinnati Reds. The 28-year-old is now hitting .474 with four home runs and a 1.776 OPS across 19 spring at-bats to this point. The righty-swinging Brosseau has largely been on the weak end of a platoon in his career and owns a lifetime .209 isolated power and an .823 OPS versus left-handed pitching versus a .149 ISO and .651 OPS against right-handed pitchers. He got into 70 games with the Brewers last season, hitting .255 with six homers and a .762 OPS with 105 of his 160 plate appearances coming against southpaws. Brosseau should see time across the infield in 2023 but doesn't get nearly enough playing time to warrant fantasy consideration as anything more than a potential streaming option in the right matchups.

Mike Brosseau Avoids Arbitration With Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers and infielder Mike Brosseau avoided salary arbitration on Thursday by agreeing to an undisclosed one-year deal. In his first year with Milwaukee in 2022, Brosseau hit .255/.344/.418 with a career-high-tying six home runs, 23 RBI, 15 runs scored and two stolen bases in 160 plate appearances over 69 games. The 28-year-old can play second, third and first base as a utility infielder for Milwaukee. He's likely to see most of his playing time once again in 2023 as a right-handed utility bat against left-handed pitching. In his four years in the big leagues, he has a slash line of .248/.320/.432 with 22 homers, 69 RBI, 65 runs scored and seven steals in 212 games. His first three years were all with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Mike Brosseau Exits Monday With Right Rib-Cage Discomfort
Milwaukee Brewers second/third baseman Mike Brosseau (rib cage) exited Monday's game against the Dodgers in the bottom of the third inning with right rib-cage discomfort, per MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. Brosseau was replaced by Luis Urias. Fantasy managers should wait for more news after the game. The 28-year-old has a respectable .258/.341/.417 slash line in 135 plate appearances this season, but his inconsistent playing time does not make him a fantasy asset at this time.

Mike Brosseau Dealing With Sprained Ankle
Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Mike Brosseau (ankle) was held out of action on Thursday due to a sprained ankle, according to Brewers manager Craig Counsell. Jace Peterson wound up making the start at third base for the game. Counsell didn't go into details on the severity of Brosseau's injury so he should be considered day-to-day for now. The 28-year-old has appeared in 31 games this year and he's slashing .265/.359/.412 with three home runs, nine RBI and seven runs.

Mike Brosseau In The Lineup Monday
Milwaukee Brewers infielder Mike Brosseau is in the lineup on Monday for a matchup with the San Francisco Giants and left-hander Sammy Long. Brosseau has so far split time at third base with Jace Peterson this season but gets the start for the team's series opener against the Giants. Brosseau is hitting .125 with a .222 on-base percentage and a home run in 18 plate appearances this season. He's batting eighth on Monday. Fantasy managers are probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help at third base.

Mike Brosseau Exits Friday's Game With Illness
Milwaukee Brewers infielder Mike Brosseau left Friday's Spring Training game with an illness, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic. The severity is unknown at the moment. The club acquired the 28-year-old from the Tampa Bay Rays over the offseason before the lockout. Brosseau slashed .187/.266/.347 with five home runs across 57 games in 2021. However, he put up a 109 wRC+ against left-handers and posted a 158 mark overall in 2020. Brosseau shouldn't miss any regular-season games, but it shouldn't affect many fantasy leagues either way. He doesn't have a starting job with the club and will be used as a platoon bat at best. Brosseau only has relevance in very deep or NL-only leagues, unless there's an injury to one of the Brewers infielders.

Brewers Acquire Mike Brosseau
The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired infielder Mike Brosseau in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays for pitching prospect Evan Reifert. The 27-year-old Brosseau is a career .245 hitter in the Majors, with a lifetime .311 on-base percentage, 16 home runs, and five stolen bases in 409 plate appearances. He appeared in 57 games for the Rays last season, hitting .187 with a .266 on-base percentage, five home runs, and a pair of stolen bases. Capable of playing second base, third base, and first base, Brosseau will give the Brewers some additional depth around the infield.

Mike Brosseau Goes Deep In Monday’s Win
Tampa Bay Rays' second baseman Mike Brosseau went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Monday's 9-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. The Rays tied a season-high record in home runs in a game with five long balls in Monday's win. He joined the Rays home run party by crushing a solo shot to center fielder in the seventh inning to extend the Rays lead 9-1. The 27-year-old was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Sunday and has started for the Rays in back-to-back games. He is hitting .286 (2-for-7) with a double and homer during that span. Brosseau is slashing .187/.266/.347 with five homers, 18 RBI, 21 runs scored, and two stolen bases over 57 games in 2021. The Rays' second baseman is not on the fantasy radar this season and can be left on the waiver wire in most league formats.
