Oakland Athletics infielder Tony Kemp will start at second base and bat ninth against Marco Gonzales and the Seattle Mariners in the first game of Monday's doubleheader. Nate Orf was in the original lineup playing third base, but now Kemp has drawn in, and Tommy La Stella has shifted to the hot corner. Kemp and his .243 average are an afterthought in fantasy formats for Wednesday's slate. More news on Orf's status will also likely come later in the day.
With the Milwaukee Brewers activating Eric Thames and Junior Guerra off of the disabled list, the team has sent second baseman/outfielder Nate Orf and starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff to Triple-A. Orf has hit 0.95 with a home run and stolen base at the major league level in 2018. Woodruff has pitched to a 2-0 record with a 4.80 ERA and a 31/11 K/BB ratio. Neither have been overly impressive in the majors, but have outstanding track records in the minor leagues. Both Orf and Woodruff hold potential and should be recalled later in the season.
Brewers Recall Nate Orf from Triple-A, Starting on Monday
The Milwaukee Brewers have recalled infielder Nate Orf from Triple-A. He'll make his MLB debut on Monday, starting at second base and batting sixth. Orf has had a strong minor league season, hitting .307 with six home runs, 39 RBI and 20 stolen bases over 74 games. It's not yet known how long Orf will be up for and how much playing time he'll receive. However, he performed well in the minor leagues and could be a source for stolen bases and batting average. He'll be a player to monitor as long as he is in the majors.
