Pat Neshek News

Pat Neshek Placed On Injured List

Philadelphia Phillies reliever Pat Neshek (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain. Neshek had just returned from a three-week layoff due to a shoulder injury and pitched just two-thirds of an inning before being removed from Wednesday's game. Ranger Suarez was called up Wednesday and figures to see some action out of the bullpen with Neshek out, but he doesn't hold much, if any, fantasy value.

Pat Neshek Bounces Back, Earns Save

Appearing in a game just hours after allowing a run en route to a cataclysmic defeat, Philadelphia Phillies reliever Pat Neshek stepped into Thursdays game in the ninth inning. His club held a two-run lead following eight brilliant innings from Aaron Nola and Neshek would lock up the win by recording his fourth save of the season, striking out one en route to a perfect inning. Neshek continues to step up as the clubs secondary closer on days in which Seranthony Dominguez is unable to go. Even after his aforementioned part in Wednesdays meltdown, he remains a steady veteran in the bullpen.

Pat Neshek Picks Up Third Save

Philadelphia Phillies reliever Pat Neshek picked up his third save of the season Friday night against the New York Mets. With Seranthony Dominguez having the night off, the veteran reliever was summoned to close out the ninth after another fantastic performance from Aaron Nola. Neshek would allow one hit but ultimately close out the game, as he lowered his ERA to 0.60 on the season. While theres a case to be made that Neshek, a former All-Star, is the best choice to close for the club, expect the Phillies to continue using Dominguez as the primary closer, with Neshek stepping in when necessary.

Pat Neshek Picks Up Second Save Of Season

After Philadelphia Phillies closerSeranthony Dominguez failed to secure the save Monday night in Arizona, manager Gabe Kapler turned to Pat Neshek to secure the result on Tuesday night. With the club up by three runs following a big eighth inning, the 37-year-old had his first save opportunity since mid-July and would retire the side in order. It was his second save of the season, as he lowered his ERA to 0.73 in 14 appearances. At this point, he could be the favorite for saves, but there truly is no telling how things will play out in the Philadelphia bullpen.

Pat Neshek Records First Save Of 2018

The bullpen carousel of the Philadelphia Phillies took another turn on Friday night, as manager Gabe Kapler went to yet another reliever to secure a save. This time it was up to Pat Neshek to close out a tight, two-run lead. Neshek, who made his season debut at the beginning of this month, retired the side in order, tossing just 13 pitches to close out the game. The 37-year-old has made five appearances, tossing 4 1/3 innings and allowing just three hits, no runs, and two strikeouts recorded. He's is coming off an All-Star season with the Phillies before being traded and once again signed in the offseason.

Pat Neshek Could Provide Stability To Phillies Bullpen

At long last, Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcherPat Neshek made his season debut for the Phillies on Sunday. Playing the Washington Nationals, the 37-year-old faced two batters, giving up a hit and retiring another before being pulled. Neshek was arguably the best pitcher in the clubs bullpen last season, and he made the All-Star team. The unit has been Philadelphias weakest link thus far, so Nesheks return provides a much-needed boost. The Phillies currently find themselves in the hunt for a National League wild-card berth while maintaining a close distance in the division race.

Pat Neshek Could Be Back After One More Rehab Outing

The day after making his second rehab appearance, this time for Double-A Reading, Philadelphia Phillies veteran reliever Pat Neshek(forearm, shoulder) is poised for a return at the beginning of July. The 37-year-old is set to make one more rehab appearance on Friday and could be activated soon thereafter. Neshek, who was with the Phillies last season before being traded to Colorado before the trade deadline, signed back with the club this past offseason. He hasnt been able to make an appearance with the club this season, however, as injuries to his shoulder and forearm have stunted his recovery. Neshek figures to be a stabilizing force in the hectic Phillies bullpen, which currently ranks 20th in ERA with a 4.18 mark.

Pat Neshek Allows One Run In Rehab Outing

After making his first rehab outing on Saturday with Single-A Clearwater, Philadelphia Phillies reliever Pat Neshek made his second on Tuesday night, this time with Double-A Reading as he moves closer towards a return. Neshek pitched the eighth inning of the game, surrendering one run on two hits while striking out a batter. In all, he tossed 16 pitches, stating after the game that one more rehab start was needed before a return to the major league club becomes a serious option. Perhaps the biggest issue Neshek still has to work out is his velocity, as he topped out at 89 mph while mainly staying in the 86-87 mph zone.

Pat Neshek Making Another Rehab Outing Tuesday

At long last, Philadelphia Phillies reliever Pat Neshek(forearm, shoulder) made a rehab outing with Single-A Clearwater on Saturday without any setbacks occurring. Now the 37-year-old is set to make another with Double-A Reading on Tuesday, and while Neshek admits hes feeling increasingly better, hes not quite sure when he would return. The All-Star reliever has not pitched yet this season because of injuries to his shoulder and forearm. At this point, its unclear what position Neshek will have in the bullpen, but a prominent role in the upper part of the bullpen depth chart seems more than likely, and he could possibly be an option in the ninth inning, too.

Pat Neshek Expected To Throw Bullpen Session Thursday

Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Pat Neshek (shoulder) is expected to throw a bullpen session on Thursday. The right-hander is expected to throw all of his pitches in the session. If all goes well, he could head to Florida to throw live batting practice. He could return and join the Phillies sometime around the end of June. Neshek had a 1.59 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 2017 and would be a big help to the Phillies bullpen.
