The Los Angeles Angels designated outfielder Peter Bourjos and pitcher Chris Stratton for assignment on Tuesday to make room for designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow), third baseman Zack Cozart (neck) and relief pitcher Cody Allen (back). Infielder Luis Rengifo was also optioned to the minors. The 32-year-old Bourjos was seeing limited playing time and hit just .091/.109/.144 in 46 plate appearances. Stratton had allowed 28 runs on 43 hits (six homers) and 18 walks with 22 strikeouts in his 29 1/3 innings for the Halos.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Peter Bourjos could be in line for more playing time the rest of the week with star outfielder Mike Trout dealing with a groin injury. Bourjos earned a spot out of spring training by slashing .283/.345/.547 but has started off the season 1-for-21 (.048). Bourjos has tantalized teams in the past with his skill set and speed but has failed to put it together at the big league level. Despite an increase in playing time forthcoming, teammate Brian Goodwin is a better fantasy option than Bourjos while Trout is sidelined.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Peter Bourjos has made the Opening Day 25-man roster. As a result, Matt Thaiss, Wilfredo Tovar, and Roberto Pena have been sent down to the minors. Bourjos has made his rounds around the league for being a bench outfielder that can play some good defense, but has never been one to trust at the plate. He'll most likely be the first in line when Mike Trout or Justin Upton need a rest. Bourjos killed Spring Training, hitting .283 / .345 / .547 with 10 runs, 10 RBI, and three home runs, however, has a career .293 batting average in Spring Training. He's historically been unable to repeat his spring success in the regular season and therefore, holds no fantasy value going into the 2019 season.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Peter Bourjos is earning a spot on the Opening Day roster, slashing .304/.347/.609 with one triple, three doubles, three home runs and 10 runs batted in through 46 exhibition at-bats. The formerly highly-touted speedster has bounced around the league the past several seasons and is looking to earn a role in the Angels outfield rotation. With outfielder Justin Upton nursing a knee injury throughout spring training, Bourjos could see some run early on in the regular season. His fantastic spring numbers, however, are unlikely to sustain themselves over a long season despite Bourjos carving out a reserve role on the team. Bourjos is not fantasy relevant at this time.
The Los Angeles Angels have brought back outfielder Peter Bourjos on a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Bourjos had a career-low 44 at-bats last season, slashing just .205/.239/.364 with a home run and no steals. He will compete with Eric Young Jr. for a fourth outfielder spot, but does not project to be fantasy relevant.
Atlanta Braves outfielder Peter Bourjos, who has largely been an afterthought in both fantasy and real life since joining the team in the spring, did something noteworthy on Wednesday, connecting for a solo homer for his first round-tripper of the year. He's still hitting below .200, so don't bother devoting any roster space for him.
The Atlanta Braves have purchased the contract of outfielder Peter Bourjos from Triple-A Gwinnett. Thursday is the first day Bourjos was eligible to join the team after being outrighted to Gwinnett. Bourjos will serve as a backup outfielder while Ronald Acuna is on the disabled list. The 31-year-old has no fantasy value.
It was not a long farewell for Braves outfielder Peter Bourjos. He was released by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday and he was re-signed to a minor league contract on Tuesday. Right now, he's going to play in Triple-A Gwinnett and will be outfield depth should anyone go down with an injury.
The Chicago Cubs have released outfielder Peter Bourjos. Bourjos wasnt expected to break camp, but should be able to find another home due to his speed. Regardless of where he ends up, Bourjos can be avoided in 2018.
Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Chicago Cubs have signed free-agent outfielder Peter Bourjosto a minor league deal. Bourjosspent last season with the Rays, where he hit .223. The Cubs seem to be set with their position players, but Bourjos should operate as organizational depth and will give the Cubs a speed option. He holds no fantasy value.
