The club also recently acquired veteran minor league catcher Juan Graterol from the Los Angeles Angels. McGuire, 26, is known as a glove-first backstop and he hit just .073 last season in 19 games. Valera, 29, has 54 games of MLB experience but he has a career 62 wRC+.
