Max Fried Exits Game After Being Hit By Line Drive
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Max Fried was hit on Tuesday by a line drive off the bat of Spencer Kieboom - he got the out to end the inning and walked off. The following is possibly the weirdest sentence in fantasy baseball history: Kevin Gausman, the pitcher who spent his whole career in the American League prior to his recent trade, pinch-hit for Fried to end his day ... and got hit by a pitch. Kolby Allard came on to pitch for Fried. This was likely a precautionary measure by the Braves. Stay tuned.
Washington Nationals catcher Spencer Kieboom is batting eighth and starting behind the plate versus lefty Max Fried on Tuesday. The Nats and Braves play a doubleheader, so there is a good chance we see Matt Wieters behind the plate for Game 2. Neither catcher is a reliable fantasy option, so they can be avoided in DFS contests on Tuesday.
Washington Nationals catcher Spencer Kieboom is starting and batting eighth on Tuesday. Matt Wieters was recently activated from the disabled list, but clearly the Nats want to ease him into action. Kieboom is hitting just .220 with five RBI on the year and is not a recommended streamer.
Washington Nationals catcher Spencer Kieboom will bat eighth and draw the start at catcher against Phillies' righty Nick Pivetta on Friday. Pedro Severino is the normal everyday catcher, but he'll get the day off. Neither player should be owned in fantasy leagues or DFS right now.
Washington Nationals catcher Matt Wieters (leg) is going to be placed on the disabled list after injuring his leg in Thursday night's contest versus the Diamondbacks. Prospect Spencer Kieboom has been called up from Triple-A Syracuse to take his spot. Kieboom had one walk in his only major league plate appearance in 2016 and will likely take a back seat to Pedro Severino, who slides into the role of primary catcher. Kieboom is not on the 40-man roster, but the Nationals have a lot of players that they can move to the 60-day DL. He sports a .670 OPS this season in Triple-A and has one home run and 10 RBI. For now, Kieboom isn't fantasy relevant, though Severino's value increases a bit. Wieters can safely be dropped from single-catcher leagues if you need the DL slot for another player.
