Taylor Motter News
Minnesota Twins utility man Taylor Motter has been recalled by the Twins on Friday. The move was announced in conjunction with Joe Mauer's reinstatement from the disabled list. There was some speculation that the Twins might call up highly-touted prospect Nick Gordon, but they went with Motter instead. After the demotions of Miguel Sano and Jake Cave, the Twins were severely lacking in infield depth. So, it makes sense for them to bring up Motter, who can play multiple infield positions. That said, he is a career .198 hitter and didn't do much in Triple-A this season. Fantasy players should leave Motter on the waiver until he shows something with the bat.
Infielder Taylor Motter has been claimed by the Minnesota Twins after he was designated for assignment on May 27 by the Seattle Mariners. Motter will join Triple-A Rochester, but will be on the Twins 40-man roster. He was designated for assignment by the Mariners in order to add catcher Chris Herrmann to the 40-man roster. Motter should not be owned in any fantasy formats.
Seattle Mariners infielder Taylor Motter will be optioned to Triple-A to make room for Tuesday night's starter Ariel Miranda, per MLB.com. The move is more roster machinations than a reflection on Motter, as the Mariners slowly begin to get their injured players back. Motter got squeezed because the team is still awaiting the return of starter Erasmo Ramirez, catcher Mike Zunino, outfielder Ben Gamel and first baseman Ryon Healy. Motter has the versatility to play all infield spots, including first base, but the team decided to keep Dan Vogelbach for the next few games. There are many scenarios, but it is likely Motter could be back on the team within the week if they option Miranda after his start or demote one of their catchers when Zunino returns. Motter is known mostly for his glove but should be back up with the club in the near future.
