Tristan Beck To Make Another Rehab Appearance On Friday

San Francisco Giants right-hander Tristan Beck (arm) started a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Aug. 8 and gave up five earned runs over nine innings (5.00 ERA) in his first three starts. Beck is scheduled to throw four or five frames in his next outing for the River Cats on Friday, Aug. 23. He felt his hand go cold after some bullpens early in spring training, prompting him to be evaluated by team doctors on Feb. 27. Beck was eventually diagnosed with an aneurysm and he was moved to the 60-day injured list on March 3 while undergoing surgery the next day to address the issue. The 28-year-old gave up four earned runs while striking out four and walking none in three innings in his most recent start for Sacramento on Sunday. Beck won't be guaranteed a rotation spot in San Fran down the stretch and should be avoided in fantasy the rest of the way.

Tristan Beck Set For Bullpen Session On Monday

San Francisco Giants right-hander Tristan Beck (arm) continues his throwing progress in San Francisco and was scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Monday. The 27-year-old felt his hand go cold after throwing some bullpen sessions early in spring training, prompting the Giants to send him back to San Fran to be evaluated by team doctors on Feb. 27. A vascular specialist at Stanford helped determine Beck was dealing with an aneurysm -- an abnormal bulge or ballooning in the wall of a blood vessel. Beck was moved to the 60-day injured list on March 3 and had surgery at Stanford the next day. Although he's making progress, Beck probably won't be an option to return to the big leagues for at least another couple of weeks, and when he does return, he'll likely be ticketed for a long-relief role with the Giants' starting rotation getting healthier in the second half.

Tristan Beck Won't Resume Throwing Until May

San Francisco Giants right-hander Tristan Beck (arm) has been cleared to increase his conditioning, but he isn't expected to resume throwing until May as he recovers from an upper right-arm aneurysm. He is scheduled to see Dr. Jason Lee for another follow-up exam at Stanford on May 1. The 27-year-old felt his hand go cold after throwing some bullpen sessions early in spring training, prompting the Giants to send him back to San Francisco to be evaluated by team doctors on Feb. 27. Beck was moved to the 60-day injured list on March 3 and underwent surgery at Stanford the next day to address the issue. Beck is hoping to return at some point in 2024, but that's unlikely to happen until the second half of the season. And if Beck does return this year, there's no guarantee he'll have a spot in the rotation waiting for him.

Tristan Beck Undergoes Successful Arm Surgery

San Francisco Giants pitcher Tristan Beck (arm) underwent successful vascular surgery to repair an aneurysm in his upper right arm, per the Athletic's Andrew Baggarly. He was placed on the 60-day injured list Sunday but was on track to start the season in the team's rotation. The Giants currently have numerous injuries to their pitching staff, so Beck may have the opportunity to start when he returns from the IL. The 27-year-old pitched mostly out of the bullpen last season, compiling a 3.92 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 19.2% strikeout rate in 85 innings pitched.

Tristan Beck Moved To 60-Day Injured List

To make room on the active 40-man roster for newcomer Matt Chapman, the San Francisco Giants placed right-hander Tristan Beck (arm) on the 60-day injured list on Sunday. Beck could be forced to miss the entire 2024 season. The 27-year-old is set to have vascular surgery on Monday to fix an aneurysm that was discovered in his upper right arm last week. At the very least, Beck won't be an option for San Francisco's starting rotation until the second half of the season. Keaton Winn (elbow), Alex Cobb (hip) and Robbie Ray (elbow) are also injured, so the Giants' rotation is going to be stretched thin early in the season. They could be forced to move Sean Hjelle into a starting role.

Tristan Beck Needs Surgery On His Arm

San Francisco Giants right-hander Tristan Beck (arm) said he will undergo vascular surgery at Stanford University on Monday to address the aneurysm in his upper right arm. Beck was dealing with an arm injury in camp and was diagnosed with the aneurysm this week. Now that he's being forced to have surgery, there's a good chance the 27-year-old won't be able to pitch at all in 2024, although there has been no specific timetable given for his recovery from surgery. The Giants have some issues at the back of their starting rotation with the start of the season approach, as both Beck and Keaton Winn (elbow), who were projected to be their No. 4 and 5 starters, are hurt. Perhaps the injuries spur the Giants to sign one of Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery in free agency?

Tristan Beck Diagnosed With Aneurysm In His Arm

The San Francisco Giants are saying that right-hander Tristan Beck (arm) was diagnosed with an aneurysm in his upper arm. He went to Stanford to see a vascular specialist and will weigh his treatment options over the next few days. Beck was penciled in as the team's No. 5 starter to open the year, but manager Bob Melvin said Beck isn't expected to be back for the start of the season and could now miss quite a bit of time. Surgery is probably an option for the 27-year-old, which could cause him to miss the entire 2024 season. It's a tough blow for both Beck and San Fran's rotation depth as they look to cover innings until Alex Cobb (hip) and Robbie Ray (elbow) return later this year. Sean Hjelle figures to be the favorite for the final rotation spot now.

Tristan Beck Dealing With Hand Discomfort

The San Francisco Giants said that right-hander Tristan Beck (hand) went back to San Francisco to see doctors because of right-hand discomfort. Beck and Keaton Winn (elbow) were the favorites to round out San Fran's starting rotation to begin the year with Alex Cobb (hip) and Robbie Ray (elbow) not ready, but now both Beck and Winn are injured. It's unclear if either Beck or Winn will be ready for the start of the 2024 regular season, but if they aren't, the Giants could be forced to go with some inexperienced arms at the back of their rotation early on. The 27-year-old Beck had a 3.92 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, two saves and 68 strikeouts in 33 outings (three starts) in his MLB debut in 2023, but he had a 7.50 ERA in his three starts late in the year. He may have a brighter future in a relief role.

Keaton Winn, Tristan Beck Front-Runners For Final Rotation Spots

San Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin said that right-handers Keaton Winn and Tristan Beck are the front-runners for the final two starting-rotation spots to open up the 2024 season behind Logan Webb, Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks. Winn, 26, had a 4.68 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a save, eight walks and 35 K's in 42 1/3 frames over nine outings (five starts) in his rookie year in 2023. Opponents hit the ball really hard off him, though, so fantasy managers in NL-only leagues shouldn't expect much if he wins a rotation spot to open the year. Beck, 27, had a 3.92 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with two saves, 21 walks and 68 K's in 85 innings over 33 outings (three starts) in his rookie season in 2023. Beck was considerably better in relief than in his three starts. Both Winn and Beck will be keeping rotation spots warm for Robbie Ray (elbow) and Alex Cobb (hip).

Tristan Beck Hammered In Loss To Rays

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Tristan Beck had a night to forget on Monday in a 10-2 loss to the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Beck picked up his second loss of the season after getting demolished to the tune of five earned runs on 10 hits while walking one and striking out two in three innings of work after opener Ryan Walker threw the first two frames. Lefty Sean Manaea was expected to serve as the bulk reliever on Monday, but instead it was Beck. The 27-year-old Beck has struggled in his last two appearances, allowing eight earned runs on 12 hits while walking three and fanning four in six innings to bring his season ERA up to 3.61 on the year in 62 1/3 innings pitched.
