Keegan Murray Is Available For His Season Debut Thursday

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (thumb) does not have an injury designation for Thursday against the Grizzlies, so he should be set to make his season debut as expected. The Kings have definitely missed Murray's contributions on both ends of the floor, and he'll step right into as large a role as he is ready to handle. On Thursday, Domantas Sabonis (knee) is out, so Precious Achiuwa will be able to play a little bigger, and there will be more work available for Murray if he's ready. Since this will be his first game, though, he may need some time to ramp up. He will be fantasy relevant when he's at 100%, but he's high-risk for DFS contests in his first game of the season and could have a minutes limit.

Keegan Murray Expected to Make Season Debut Thursday

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (thumb) is expected to make his season debut Thursday, per Jason Anderson. The third-year forward averaged 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists last season while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. His return brings needed stability to the frontcourt but also forces fantasy managers to monitor Sacramento's rotations closely, as coach Doug Christie has been shuffling lineups early in the year. Reduced minutes and touches are likely for Russell Westbrook, Dennis Schroder, Keon Ellis, Precious Achiuwa, and rookie Nique Clifford once Murray is fully reintegrated. Murray belongs in all lineups, with his scoring, rebounding, and defensive contributions projected to ramp up quickly. Fringe Kings options may lose streaming value as the rotation tightens.

Keegan Murray Could Make his Season Debut This Week

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (thumb) has been cleared for five-on-five, contact practices, and he could be ready to join the team's rotation later this week. The Kings assigned him to the G League for practice as he ramps back up after injuring his thumb in the preseason. The team hopes he can return during the team's current road trip, potentially Thursday against the Memphis Grizzlies or Saturday against the Denver Nuggets. Murray's return will be a huge boost for the Kings, who have missed him on both ends of the floor in their woeful 3-11 start.

Nique Clifford Shines in Keegan Murray's Absence

Sacramento Kings forward Nique Clifford stepped up on Wednesday night in his team's exhibition loss to the Clippers. Clifford scored 19 points on an efficient 8-of-13 from the field, and added three rebounds, one steal, and two three-pointers. The first-round pick from Colorado State could be a great late-round pick since he should get a chance to contribute early in the season with Keegan Murray (thumb) set to miss at least a month. Dario Saric started in place of Murray, but Clifford has shown more fantasy potential. He'll be an early-season sleeper to watch, and he could be a good DFS or streaming play in the early going, even if he comes off the bench.

Keegan Murray Lands Five-Year, $140 Million Extension

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (thumb) has signed a five-year, $140 million contract extension. He had one year remaining on his rookie deal. The 25-year-old has been a solid performer for the Kings, averaging 13.3 points and 5.6 rebounds for his career. Last season, he registered a career-high 6.7 rebounds per game, though Murray's offensive production dipped to 12.4 points due to poor three-point shooting. Due to a thumb injury, Murray must sit out the start of the 2025-26 campaign. He will be re-evaluated in early November. The Kings will be missing a regular starter until Murray returns, creating an interesting dynamic on the team early in the season, especially after Sacramento snapped up Russell Westbrook, who will be an additional option in the rotation.

Keegan Murray to Undergo Surgery

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (thumb) will undergo surgery to repair a torn left ulnar collateral ligament. He will be reevaluated in four-to-six weeks. Murray was selected No. 4 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft and has appeared in 233 regular-season contests. Although he's coming off a down year in terms of production, he's still averaged 13.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 37.2% shooting from behind the arc throughout his career. The 25-year-old is currently eligible for a rookie scale extension. However, he has logged at least 76 games in each of his three seasons in the National Basketball Association, so his durability shouldn't be a concern. Until Murray is cleared to return to the court, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine might shuffle to the three and four spots, with Malik Monk entering the starting lineup. Of course, that could change periodically while Murray is on the shelf.

Keegan Murray In Danger Of Missing Third Straight Contest

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (back) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's matchup against the Denver Nuggets. He may have to skip a third consecutive game due to lower back inflammation. Trey Lyles is likely to log another start if Murray cannot return to the lineup. Lyles has seen heavy usage over the last couple of games, averaging 39.0 minutes a night, but his efforts have not translated well into fantasy basketball. In the two starts, Lyles has averaged 7.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals.

Keegan Murray Sits Out Monday's Game

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (back) has been ruled out for Monday's matchup against the Detroit Pistons. He sat out Sunday's contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a back problem and is not ready to return for Monday night, with the team downgrading Murray's status from questionable to out. Trey Lyles figures to remain in the starting lineup as Murray's replacement. He had a fairly quiet outing against the Cavaliers on Sunday, finishing with seven points, eight rebounds, and two steals in 40 minutes. However, the Pistons had trouble stopping Lyles in this season's first head-to-head matchup when he fired in four three-point bombs during a 20-point effort.

Keegan Murray Questionable On Monday With Back Issue

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (back) has been tagged as questionable for Monday's matchup with the Detroit Pistons while he deals with back soreness. Murray has only been forced to miss three games all season, and this could be his second consecutive absence due to the back issue. While he sat out their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Trey Lyles moved into the starting lineup and received 40 minutes. In that time, he posted seven points, eight rebounds, one assist, and two steals while shooting 2-for-6 from the floor. Lyles isn't a great option for streaming or DFS lineups even if Murray doesn't play, so fantasy managers should take a look at some different teams for that purpose.

Keegan Murray Will Play On Sunday

Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray (ankle) will suit up for Sunday's game against the Golden State Warriors. Murray will make his return to the court after missing each of the last two games due to an ankle injury. The 24-year-old has been on a cold streak recently, but he's still worth starting in season-long formats due to his upside. The expectation is that Murray will have his full workload on Sunday despite missing two games in a row. Fantasy managers should go ahead and get him in their lineups ahead of tip-off.
