Kris Murray Could Miss Another Contest Friday

Portland Trail Blazers forward Kris Murray (illness) is considered questionable for Friday's tilt against the Houston Rockets. He's battling an illness and could be absent for a second consecutive game. Murray has recently been Deni Avdija's (back) replacement in the starting unit. With both players on the shelf, Scoot Henderson started Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, finishing with eight points, one rebound, three assists, and one steal in 24 minutes. His night was hampered by 3-for-11 shooting. Vit Krejci and Sidy Cissoko are also candidates for larger roles if Murray and Avdija don't return on Friday night.

Kris Murray Iffy for Wednesday

Portland Trail Blazers forward Kris Murray (illness) is questionable to play on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies. On Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks, Murray made his fourth consecutive start, but he logged only four minutes in the contest due to illness. Vit Krejci started the second half in Murray's place, producing a solid line against this former team, with 14 points, four rebounds, and one assist. Krejci may keep his spot in the first unit on Wednesday if Murray and Deni Avdija (back) remain absent.

Kris Murray, Matisse Thybulle Suit Up Friday

Portland Trail Blazers forwards Kris Murray (back) and Matisse Thybulle (knee) are available for Friday's matchup against Denver. Murray returns from a prolonged absence due to a lumbar strain and has averaged 6.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.2 steals in 25.7 minutes across 34 games this season, though a full workload is unlikely with the rotation near full strength. Thybulle, who has logged 12.2 minutes over four outings, is averaging 5.0 points and 2.5 steals, giving him deep-league appeal as a defensive streamer. Vit Krejci could see a slight minute reduction.

Kris Murray Out on Monday

Portland Trail Blazers forward Kris Murray (quadriceps) won't play on Monday against the Dallas Mavericks. He will exit the lineup due to a quadriceps contusion after logging 30 minutes in Sunday's win over the Boston Celtics. With Jerami Grant (Achilles) unavailable, Murray made his fifth consecutive start on Sunday. The team may now look to Sidy Cissoko to fill one of the starting forward spots, while Rayan Rupert is likely to receive increased minutes coming off the bench.

Kris Murray Will Play Against the Clippers

Portland Trail Blazers forward Kris Murray (neck) will play on Friday against the Clippers. He was initially listed as questionable because of right cervical soreness. Fortunately, the 25-year-old was upgraded to probable, paving way for his availability and avoiding his first absence since the win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 3. With that said, everyone on the roster has an excellent chance of producing versus the 8-21 Clippers. However, Murray has averaged only 5.9 points this season, so he's tough to trust, even with a favorable matchup on the horizon.

Jerami Grant Won't Play Saturday Night, Kris Murray Joins Starting Unit

Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant (Achilles) has been ruled out for Saturday's encounter with the Sacramento Kings. The veteran has had a heavy workload lately and will take Saturday night off due to a sore left Achilles tendon. Portland listed Grant as questionable on the initial injury report. Kris Murray has been announced as Grant's replacement in the starting lineup. While a starting role increases Murray's fantasy appeal, his numbers haven't improved much in the first unit. Across three previous starts this season, Murray has averaged 7.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 29.7 minutes.

Kris Murray Makes Third Start of the Campaign Thursday

Portland Trail Blazers forward Kris Murray will join the first unit on Thursday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Portland is without Donovan Clingan (lower leg), Robert Williams (illness), and Yang Hansen (face), giving Murray a good opportunity to play a big role in the frontcourt. Duop Reath is also expected to see more action on Thursday night. Murray's previous two starts this season didn't go too well, as he averaged 8.0 points and 5.0 rebounds across 30.0 minutes.

Kris Murray Considered Questionable on Friday

Portland Trail Blazers forward Kris Murray (illness) has picked up a questionable status for Friday's NBA Cup contest against the Denver Nuggets. The former first-round pick has seen an uptick in minutes so far this season compared to last year and has stepped up his shooting efficiency. So far, he's averaging 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals across 21.8 minutes per game while shooting .529 from the floor and .333 from beyond the arc. In his absence against the Utah Jazz, Rayan Rupert, Caleb Love, and Matisse Thybulle saw some added minutes, but they would only serve as a streaming option in deeper fantasy leagues.

Kris Murray Joins Starting Unit Wednesday

Portland Trail Blazers forward Kris Murray (quadriceps) will return to action as a starter on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets. He missed Monday's meeting with Denver due to a left quadriceps contusion, and Murray was initially listed as questionable for Wednesday's rematch. Murray will make his first start of the campaign with Jerami Grant (knee) sidelined. Last season, Murray logged 29 starts and didn't do much with the additional workload, so fantasy managers should tame their expectations for him.

Kris Murray Skips Monday's Action

Portland Trail Blazers forward Kris Murray (quadriceps) will not be in the lineup for Monday's tilt against the Denver Nuggets. He has been downgraded from questionable to out, as Murray has failed to recover from a quadriceps contusion. With Jerami Grant (knee) also out, Jabari Walker may find himself in a significant role after playing only a handful of minutes over the past two contests. However, Walker is not a reliable source of fantasy value.
