Nick Richards Enters Camp in Prove-It Mode

Miami Heat center Nick Richards said the teams that passed on him in free agency were wrong, and he plans to prove it in Miami. "There's a lot of teams that passed up on me that I felt like they should have given me more consideration," Richards told Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Tuesday. The 28-year-old has spoken with Erik Spoelstra about bringing energy and physicality, but the path to minutes is tight behind Bam Adebayo, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis, and Nikola Jovic. Richards started 51 games for Charlotte in 2023-24, averaging 9.7 points and 8.0 rebounds, but he slipped to 14.6 minutes per game between Phoenix and Chicago last season. He needs a strong preseason to become more than emergency fantasy depth.

Nick Richards Lands in Miami

Free-agent center Nick Richards has agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Heat, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. The move fills Miami's 14th standard roster spot after the team added Klay Thompson, giving the Heat another reserve big behind Bam Adebayo, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Bobby Portis. Richards split last season between Phoenix and Chicago, averaging 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in 14.6 minutes across 48 games while shooting 51.2 percent from the field. His workload is unlikely to grow much in Miami unless injuries open up backup-center minutes, leaving Richards off fantasy draft boards for now.

Nick Richards Emerges as Heat Frontcourt Target

Free-agent center Nick Richards has emerged as a candidate for the Miami Heat's 14th roster spot, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson. Miami wants to use the spot on a rotation big who can play either center or power forward, and the 6-foot-11 veteran has been working out at Kaseya Center in Heat gear. Richards is weighing multiple offers, and it's unclear whether another team has topped Miami's guaranteed money. Any fantasy value would be thin regardless of where he signs. Richards averaged 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in 14.6 minutes across 48 games and six starts for Phoenix and Chicago last season. In Miami, he would sit behind Bam Adebayo, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Bobby Portis, leaving frontcourt injuries as his only real path to minutes.

Nick Richards Works Out with Heat Players in Miami

Free-agent center Nick Richards has been working out in Miami Heat gear on the team's practice court, but the Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman downplayed the idea that it signals a front-burner signing. Miami is an offseason hub for player runs, and Winderman framed any Heat path for Richards as more likely a non-guaranteed camp invite than a firm roster move. The 28-year-old could follow the path Precious Achiuwa took last year, though that route would come with no roster-spot guarantee even if he plays well in preseason. Miami's hard cap after the Giannis Antetokounmpo acquisition also limits flexibility while other roster matters remain unresolved. Richards split 2025-26 between Phoenix and Chicago, averaging 5.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 14.6 minutes per game, leaving him off fantasy radars unless a real roster opening develops.

Nick Richards Pitched as a 76ers Free-Agent Fit

Free-agent center Nick Richards could be a fit to back up Joel Embiid in Philadelphia, Evan Sidery suggests, floating him as the primary reserve big to round out a second unit that will include expected buyout addition Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Richards, 28, is an unrestricted free agent after last season's trade sent him from Phoenix to Chicago. The 6-foot-11 rim-runner is a high-percentage finisher and rebounder who averaged 8.9 points and 7.5 rebounds in a larger role with Charlotte in 2024-25. This is speculation, not reported interest, so temper expectations. Given Embiid's knee history, whoever backs him up carries deep-league appeal, making Richards worth monitoring if Philadelphia signs him.

Nick Richards Remains Sidelined Friday, Guerschon Yabusele Will Play

Chicago Bulls center Nick Richards (elbow) will remain out on Friday against the New York Knicks. Chicago has downgraded his status from questionable to out, meaning Richards will miss a fifth consecutive contest. Fortunately for the Bulls. Guerschon Yabusele (ankle) is good to go after initially carrying a questionable tag. He has been solid as a starter in recent games and should have a chip on his shoulder in Friday's game against the Knicks, who barely used him this season and traded him in February.

Nick Richards to Miss Third Straight Game

Chicago Bulls center Nick Richards (elbow) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. Richards will miss his third game in a row due to a sprained right elbow. This absence should mean that Guerschon Yabusele should draw at least one more start at the center spot. Fantasy managers should consider Yabusele a possible streaming option or cheap DFS choice while Richards is out. Leonard Miller should also see a larger role in the rotation as well. He has scored 10 points or more in nine of his last 10 games. Miller could be worth a look as well for fantasy managers needing help for Monday's slate.

Nick Richards Won't Play on Friday

Chicago Bulls center Nick Richards (elbow) has been ruled out ahead of Friday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Richards is unavailable here after an elbow injury limited him to nine minutes during Wednesday's contest. Without Richards, the Bulls will need to lean on Guerschon Yabusele and Patrick Williams. Between the two, Yabusele is the better streaming choice for Friday's slate. He finished with 11 points and four rebounds across 22 minutes on Wednesday. The 30-year-old offers enough scoring upside to warrant looking at in deep leagues as a streaming choice on Friday.

Nick Richards Cleared to Play Monday

Chicago Bulls center Nick Richards (back) will be active against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. He initially had a small question mark hanging over him due to a probable designation. Richards has performed well recently, averaging nearly a double-double this month, with 11.0 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. However, the Bulls' frontcourt is looking a bit crowded, with Jalen Smith and Guerschon Yabusele also part of the rotation at center, which could disrupt Richards' recent good momentum.

Nick Richards Active Sunday Against Knicks

Chicago Bulls center Nick Richards (foot) will play Sunday against the Knicks. Richards remains the primary backup to Jalen Smith, who continues to operate under a minutes restriction, keeping the door open for a steady second-unit run. Through five appearances with Chicago, Richards has averaged 8.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 19.0 minutes. He logged five points and five rebounds in 19 minutes during the last loss to Detroit. Richards is a fringe, risk-leaning option in standard leagues, but deeper formats can target his block upside while Smith's workload is monitored.
