The Houston Texans worked out free-agent running backs Akeem Hunt and Charles Sims on Thursday. Houston is noticeably lacking for running back depth behind Lamar Miller, with Alfred Blue the main backup. Tyler Ervin and rookie Gregory Howell round out the group. Sims was cut by the Buccaneers last weekend and Hunt had just eight carries for the Chiefs in 2017.
The Kansas City Chiefs cut running back Akeem Hunt with a failed-physical designation Tuesday. Hunt had a career-low eight carries and 23 yards in 15 games with KC in 2017 and he has yet to score a touchdown in his three years in the league.
The Kansas City Chiefs placed running back Akeem Hunt (ankle) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. Hunt was injured in the Week 17 regular season finale against the Broncos. With Charcandrick West (illness) being inactive in Week 17 and questionable for the Wild-Card round against Tennessee, the Chiefs re-signed C.J. Spiller to strengthen the depth behind Kareem Hunt. If West is unable to play again this weekend, Spiller could serve as Hunt's backup.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Akeem Hunt(ankle) saw just four carries for 25 yards in Week 17 before exiting with an ankle injury. Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman took over most of the running back duties afterwards, but KC never got much momentum going on the ground. It's unclear how significant this injury is right now, but Kareem Hunt is going to be the featured back regardless in the playoffs. The Chiefs should have an update on Akeem Hunt's status later in the week, but he likely won't be much of a factor in the playoffs.
Charcandrick West, Akeem Hunt Questionable Against Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs running backs Charcandrick West (illness) and Akeem Hunt (shoulder) are both being listed as questionable for Week 17 against the Broncos. West didn't practice Thursday or Friday, so his availability is seriously in doubt. With starter Kareem Hunt not likely to play much in this meaningless game, West would be in line for a substantial uptick in touches, but his status is a risky one for fantasy owners, and Hunt, who practiced in full all week, could be the back to own in Week 17. Still, both West and Akeem Hunt are shaky RB3/flex choices for the desperate this weekend. With quarterback Alex Smith sitting out entirely and most of the other skill players on offense resting, the Chiefs offense will be one to avoid from a fantasy perspective.
The Kansas City Chiefs signed former Houston Texans running back Akeem Hunt to their practice squad on Tuesday. Despite losing Spencer Ware for the season, the Chiefs are confident with the three backs they have on the active roster, and can and will give Tyreek Hill carries if they are ever in a pinch. While he does possess top-end speed and can contribute on special teams, Hunt didn't have any fantasy relevance in his two-year stint with the Texans, and chances are he won't disturb the Chiefs' depth chart with his arrival in KC either.
