The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed running back Alfred Blue due to an ankle injury. He'll be eligible to return after Week 8, though it's unlikely Blue has an impact this year as the Saints claimed two backs on Sunday: rookie Devine Ozigbo and veteran Tyler Ervin. Ervin's got some upside as a third-down back, and unless one of the two struggle severely over the first eight weeks, Blue will likely end up out of the rotation completely this year.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Alfred Blue (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in the preseason game against the Eagles on Thursday night. Blue had five yards on four carries in the game before departing. It's unclear how serious the former Texan's injury is, so stay tuned for more details. If healthy this year, Blue should help serve as depth behind the oft-injured Leonard Fournette in the Jags backfield. It's looking more like rookie Ryquell Armstead will get the first shot at snaps after Fournette, though, so Blue doesn't move the fantasy need much, if at all.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Alfred Blue had five yards on four carries in Thursday's preseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. For a little while, it looked like Blue could wind up as the main backup to Leonard Fournette, but it's looking more and more like that job belongs to rookie Ryquell Armstead. Blue doesn't appear to have a solid role this year for the Jaguars, making him a player to avoid in all fantasy formats. If you must handcuff Fournette, do it with Armstead.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free-agent running back Alfred Blue to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday. In five seasons with the Texans, Blue had 2,407 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground while catching 69 passes for 470 yards. He rushed for only 499 yards and two touchdowns over a full season last year with Houston behind Lamar Miller. Blue will join Thomas Rawls, David Williams and Dimitri Flowers as depth behind the oft-injured Leonard Fournette in 2019. Consider Blue just a low-upside handcuff for Fournette owners.
Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue was forced to be Houston's main back against the Jets in Week 15 when Lamar Miller exited with an ankle injury, but he wasn't able to put up an effective outing. Blue rushed for six yards on nine carries and brought in two receptions for nine yards. If Miller is unable to play against the Eagles in Week 16, Blue wouldn't have very much fantasy appeal, especially during a week where many fantasy owners are facing must-win championship games.
Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue finished with 21 yards and a touchdown on six carries in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He failed to bring in his only target. Blue's had some solid performances this season, but hasn't been consistent enough to garner fantasy consideration and has instead served more as a thorn in the side of Lamar Miller owners. That's unlikely to change much as the NFL season winds down.
Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue continued to see double-digit touches in the Texans win against the Browns, and he continued to not do much with those touches. Blue finished with 54 rushing yards on 13 carries. He's a low-tier flex option in deeper standard leagues at this point with little upside and a fairly low floor. Avoid him as long as Lamar Miller continues to perform at a high level.
Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue rushed for 49 yards on 13 carries in Monday's win over the Tennessee Titans. He added 13 yards on one catch as well. Blue actually touched the ball more than teammate Lamar Miller, but Miller finished with 162 rushing yards. Blue remains a low-ceiling fantasy play who'll get a handful of carries per game, but lacks the ability to break off huge plays; he doesn't have runs of 20 or more yards this season.
Alfred Blue Leads Team In Rushing Yards Against Denver
Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue rushed for a team-high 39 yards on 15 carries against the Broncos on Sunday as Houston failed to get anything going in the run game. Blue's carries had been trending downwards for a few weeks, but with Lamar Miller ineffective the team chose to turn to the veteran to try to make something happen in the run game. It didn't happen, and with Houston heading into a bye week, fantasy owners have no reason to roster Blue in 12-team or smaller leagues.
Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue played all but one offensive snap for the Texans in Sunday's win over Dallas as starting running back Lamar Miller (chest) was active but watched the entire game from the bench. While Blue couldn't capitalize on that playing time as a runner, finishing with 46 rushing yards on 20 carries, he was able to put up strong receiving numbers, grabbing eight catches for 73 yards. Blue's Week 6 fantasy value will rest in whether or not the Texans deem Miller ready to return to action or not, but Blue has been making a case for more carries this season.
