Alfred Morris News

Alfred Morris Released By The Giants

The New York Giants released running back Alfred Morris on Tuesday. He re-signed with Giants two weeks ago but ultimately ended up being waived. The 32-year-old had modest success last season and had averaged 4.2 yards per carry. Morris logged 55 carries for 238 rushing yards and one touchdown over nine games for the Giants in 2020. The veteran RB will look to latch onto another team in need of running back depth. Saquon Barkley, Devontae Booker, and Corey Clement are currently the top backs on the Giants RB depth chart heading into the 2021 regular season.

Alfred Morris Officially Signs With The Giants

Free-agent running back Alfred Morris re-signed with the New York Giants on Monday. The 32-year-old had modest success last season and had averaged 4.2 yards per carry. He logged 55 carries for 238 rushing yards and one touchdown over nine games for the Giants in 2020. Morris will compete for a spot on the Giants running back depth chart behind Saquon Barkley and Devontae Booker. The veteran RB is a depth signing and won't have much fantasy value unless Barkley and Booker miss time. Fantasy managers can avoid Morris in upcoming drafts.

Alfred Morris Expected To Sign With The Giants

Free-agent running back Alfred Morris is visiting the New York Giants on Thursday. He will get into the team's facility next week and is expected to sign then. The 32-year-old logged 55 carries for 238 rushing yards, and one touchdown over nine games for the Giants in 2020. If he makes the roster, Morris will provide the Giants running back depth and serve as the RB3 behind Saquon Barkley and Devontae Booker. The veteran running back doesn't have much left in the tank and is not on the fantasy radar in 2021.

Alfred Morris Racks Up 39 Yards Versus Browns

New York Giants running back Alfred Morris rushed for 39 yards on seven carries in a loss to the Browns on Sunday. Morris averaged an impressive 5.6 yards-per-carry, but that's where positives end for the New York offense. Devonta Freeman (ankle) returned to practice last week and there aren't enough carries in the Giants' backfield for Morris, Freeman, and Wayne Gallman to have fantasy value.

Alfred Morris Finds End Zone Twice In Seattle

New York Giants running back Alfred Morris rushed eight times for 39 yards and a touchdown in a road win over the Seahawks. Morris added a six-yard touchdown catch on his only target in the passing game. Despite the good game, Morris remains an unreliable fantasy option. He had half the carries Wayne Gallman did and is yet to have a double-digit carry game this season. Morris is the change-of-pace back for this offense and would only have fantasy value if something were to happen to Gallman.

Alfred Morris, Dion Lewis Off The Fantasy Radar

New York Giants running backs Alfred Morris and Dion Lewis have split time as the backup to Wayne Gallman and neither has seen enough work to trust in fantasy. Morris has been the change-of-pace runner, but is yet to see double-digit carries in a game and has just one target on the season. Lewis, on the other hand, has been a passing-downs back and has just one game with more than three carries and that was back in Week 2 when Saquon Barkley (knee) left mid-game. Both can be left on waivers in fantasy.

Alfred Morris Rushes For 34 Yards

New York Giants running back Alfred Morris rushed eight times for 34 yards in a win over the Eagles on Sunday. Morris has been used as a change-of-pace back to rest starter Wayne Gallman, but can't be trusted in fantasy playing second-fiddle in this backfield. Gallman scored two touchdowns with QB Daniel Jones also rushing one in and there aren't enough red zone carries to go around in New York. Morris wasn't targeted in the passing game either, meaning if he doesn't score, he's not providing much fantasy value. Morris' role should get smaller before it gets larger if Devonta Freeman (foot) returns from injury. Morris can be left on waivers in fantasy.

Dion Lewis, Alfred Morris Not In Play For Fantasy In Week 10

New York Giants running backs Dion Lewis and Alfred Morris are not startable options in Week 10, even with Devonta Freeman (ankle) expected to miss his third straight game. Wayne Gallman has been used as the lead back for New York with double-digit carries in three straight games, including 14 last week in a win at Washington. Morris has been used as a change-of-pace from Gallman, but he isn't seeing enough carries to be effective as the second back in a bad offense. Lewis is primarily used on passing downs and caught a touchdown two weeks ago, but he has just one game with more than three carries, making him a fantasy football afterthought.

Alfred Morris Runs For 67 Yards Versus Former Team

New York Giants running back Alfred Morris handled nine carries for 67 yards in a win at Washington on Sunday. Morris caught his only target to add four receiving yards. It was impressive to see Morris running this well against his former team as his 7.4 yards-per-carry is easily a season-high for the veteran running back. Morris' future for fantasy remains cloudy, however, as Devonta Freeman (ankle) seems poised to return from injury. If Freeman is back next week, fantasy managers can't trust Morris who was on the practice squad until Week 8.

Alfred Morris, Dion Lewis Not Startable Versus Washington

New York Giants running backs Alfred Morris and Dion Lewis will play a backup role to Wayne Gallman for the team's Week 9 matchup in Washington. Starter Devonta Freeman (ankle) remains sidelined so both backs should be involved, but not to the point where fantasy managers should consider starting Morris, who was on the practice squad until just before last Monday's game, or Lewis who has just five carries since Week 2. Washington allows the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs giving both runners next to no fantasy appeal.
