Austin Blythe Announces His Retirement

Seattle Seahawks starting center Austin Blythe, who was scheduled to hit free agency on March 15, announced his retirement on Tuesday at the age of 30 on his official Instagram account. Blythe was originally drafted in the seventh round in 2016 by the Indianapolis Colts out of the University of Iowa. He played just one year in Indy before spending the next four years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams. Blythe played the 2021 campaign with the Kansas City Chiefs and finished things off in Seattle in 2022. Over the course of his seven-year NFL career, Blythe played in 92 games (66 starts). Austin Blythe Signs With Seahawks

Former Kansas City Chiefs center Austin Blythe signed an undisclosed deal with the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday, according to a source. The Seahawks could lose both Kyle Fuller and Ethan Pocic in free agency, so they are bringing in Blythe to help at the position in 2022. The 29-year-old managed to play in just four games in his lone season with the Chiefs. Blythe was originally a seventh-round selection by the Indianapolis Colts in 2016 out of Iowa. He played in eight games (one start) in his rookie year for the Colts and then moved to the Los Angeles Rams, where he stayed from 2017-20. As of right now, Drew Lock will be the man under center for Seattle after they traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.
