Benny Snell Jr. News
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Benny Snell Jr. has transformed his body from that of a power back in college to more of a body style conducive to the NFL this year with a leaner frame. The Steelers want to lighten second-year back Najee Harris' workload this year, but it doesn't necessarily mean that Snell will suddenly see a big jump in touches in 2022, and the Steelers could still add to the group with some veteran depth before training camp next month. Snell saw a career-low 36 carries for 98 yards and no touchdowns in 17 games last year and is strictly an injury replacement for Harris in fantasy.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Benny Snell Jr. is technically the team's No. 2 running back right now, but you certainly wouldn't know that from his snap log. The team's No. 1 back Najee Harris has been completely dominating the running back snaps through three weeks. Harris played 100% of the snaps in Week 1 and then went on to play 95% of the snaps the next two weeks. Snell, meanwhile, didn't see the field in Week 1, then went on to play a total of seven snaps over the next two weeks. He's rushed for one yard on two carries overall. He's been the only Steeler running back other than Harris to see a carry so far. Snell doesn't need to be rostered in any standard fantasy league for now, but he'd be a worthy waiver wire add if Harris were to go down.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Benny Snell Jr. had 113 yards on 19 carries in last year's season-opener in place of James Conner, but he wound up averaging 3.3 yards per carry with four touchdowns over the course of the season behind a really bad offensive line. The Steelers drafted Najee Harris and also signed Kalen Ballage, who averaged 4.3 yards per carry with the New York Jets and 3.3 yards per tote with the Los Angeles Chargers last year. Ballage won't push for a starting job, but he could push Snell for the final roster spot in the running back room. The 23-year-old will only be fantasy relevant as a deep-league handcuff for Harris' owners if he wins a backup job over Ballage this summer.

Despite being an early declare, Benny Snell was one of the worst running back prospects of the 2019 draft class. He ran a 4.66 40 with 12th percentile burst and 50th percentile agility according to playerprofiler.com. He was awful as a rookie, but...
