Najee Harris Signs With the Giants

The New York Giants are signing free-agent running back Najee Harris (Achilles) to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. The veteran Harris will be added to an already crowded Giants' RB room that includes Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and Devin Singletary. The 28-year-old former first-rounder in 2021 by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of the University of Alabama had four straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons to begin his career in the Steel City before playing in just three games in 2025 with the Los Angeles Chargers due to a torn Achilles tendon. Harris appears to be fully recovered from his injury after impressing the Giants during his visit with the team on Monday, but he will have a steep hill to climb in 2026 for a fantasy-relevant role in the Big Apple. For now, Harris should remain off the fantasy football radar in standard-sized leagues. In his three games with the Bolts last year, Harris had 15 carries for 61 yards on the ground while catching all three of his targets for 25 yards.

Najee Harris Visiting With Giants on Monday

Free-agent running back Najee Harris (Achilles) is visiting with the New York Giants on Monday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. It's the third known visit for Harris this year after he worked out with the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks earlier this spring. The Giants would be a poor fit for the 28-year-old, with second-year back Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. firmly entrenched atop the team's RB depth chart going into the 2026 season. They also have Devin Singletary in their RB room. Harris, a former 24th overall pick in 2021 by the Pittsburgh Steelers, started his career off with four straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons in the Steel City before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency last spring. Harris made it only three games with the Bolts in 2025 before suffering a season-ending torn Achilles tendon. If Harris latches on with a new organization before the regular season begins, he'll merely be competing for a depth role and is unlikely to pique much interest in single-year fantasy leagues.

Colts Named as Potential Landing Spot for Najee Harris

The Indianapolis Colts were named a landing spot for current free-agent running back Najee Harris, according to Jason Garcia. Harris's 2025 season with the Los Angeles Chargers was cut short by a ruptured Achilles tendon, marking the first games he had missed in his four-year NFL career. While the Colts just re-signed Jonathan Taylor to a two-year, $44 million extension, they don't yet have a marquee replacement for him. Taylor has averaged more than 22 carries per game over the past two seasons and has missed time due to ankle injuries. With DJ Giddens struggling at camp and only seventh-round pick Seth McGowan behind him, Harris could fill the backup role behind Taylor in Indianapolis.

Najee Harris Remains Unsigned, His Value Will be Dependent on Where He Lands

27-year-old running back out of Alabama, Najee Harris, tore his Achilles early in the 2025 season after he was signed to a one-year deal by the Los Angeles Chargers. He finished the season with only 15 rush attempts for 61 yards and three receptions for 25 yards. Harris spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and finished as the RB20 or better in all four of those seasons, rushing for more than 1,000 yards and six touchdowns in all of those seasons. Harris has never been an extremely efficient runner, as evidenced by his career 3.9 YPC; however, he has proven to be a workhorse, logging 255 or more carries in all of his first four seasons. At 27 years old, it's fair to ask what he has left in the tank; however, if he were to sign with a team that would provide him with a timeshare or ample opportunities, he could return to the fantasy radar. Based on name value alone, Harris remains a hold in dynasty formats that roster more bench spots; however, in most redraft formats, he goes undrafted because he is still on the free-agent market.

Najee Harris on the Short List of Injury Replacements Ahead of Training Camps

With training camps set to open at the end of the month, opportunities could soon begin to arise for some of the veteran free agents who remain unsigned, and a player near the top of the available list of running backs is Najee Harris. The former Pro Bowler began his career with four straight 1,000-yard campaigns for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but how much is left in the tank remains unknown after he tore his Achilles only three games into his 2025 stint with the Los Angeles Chargers. Harris signed a one-year deal with the Chargers last offseason, but a bizarre eye injury limited his availability throughout training camp, and he handled only 15 carries before his season came to an unceremonious ending. With the start of padded practices in training camp comes the unfortunate reality of injury risk, and should a team face an unexpected depth chart shake-up, Harris could be one of the first running backs on standby. Currently RotoBaller's RB69, the 28-year-old veteran still has a chance to work his way into the closing rounds of 2026 drafts.

Is Najee Harris' Fantasy Career Over?

As veteran running back Najee Harris continues to work his way back from the Achilles tear that ended his Chargers career after only three games and 15 carries, he remains a free agent ahead of NFL training camps. After four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Harris took a one-year, $5.3 million deal in what proved to be a modest 2025 market for running backs. Limited in his first training camp with the Chargers following a bizarre Fourth of July eye injury, he tore his Achilles coming out of his stance on a routine play and has since been rehabbing the injury that has historically sapped the explosiveness out of running backs, particularly those on the wrong side of the age cliff. A first-round pick in 2021, Harris is now 28 years old, and while a running back injury somewhere across the league could provide him a chance to return for his sixth season, expectations of a fantasy revival remain low for RotoBaller's dynasty RB82.

Is Najee Harris the Top Free Agent Back Left on the Market?

Free agent running back Najee Harris is a name to monitor as teams around the league gather for organized practices and get their first real looks at the rosters they've assembled throughout the offseason. Should injury or legal situation create an unexpected running back need, Harris is arguably the most intriguing option left on the market despite his 2025 season ending after only 15 carries with a ruptured Achilles. Before landing with the Chargers, he had volumed his way to 1,000 rushing yards in each of his four seasons in Pittsburgh, though efficiency was never his calling card even prior to the injury. At 28 years old, any return to action will likely come in a committee role, but in the right situation, he could still find enough fantasy relevance to justify a roster spot in deep dynasty leagues. At RotoBaller's dynasty RB82, Harris is potentially sitting on waiver wires, and while he may not find a new home until well into training camp, he's worth a low-stakes claim wherever available while his perceived value is still at its floor.

Can Najee Harris Re-Establish Some Dynasty Value in 2026?

Veteran running back Najee Harris (Achilles) appeared in just three games with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025 before suffering a torn Achilles tendon that ended his season. As he works his way back from the injury, Harris currently remains unsigned for the 2026 campaign. The 28-year-old was expected to play a complementary role in Los Angeles alongside Chargers running back Omarion Hampton, and it's unlikely that he'll land a starting gig coming off a serious injury. Harris was a productive back as recently as 2024, when he logged 1,326 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns on 299 touches across 17 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now that the 2026 NFL Draft is over, it would not be surprising to see Harris sign with a team in need of a steady veteran presence in the backfield. However, big-play upside and explosiveness have never been a strength of Harris' game. With his touch volume likely going down in 2026 and beyond, Harris' fantasy production ceiling is limited. Coming off his injury, Harris' dynasty stock is fading rapidly.

Najee Harris a Name to Remember After the NFL Draft

With less than a week until the 2026 NFL Draft, veteran running back Najee Harris (Achilles) remains unsigned, and that is unlikely to change before teams have the chance to sort through the younger, healthier options of what is largely considered an underwhelming rookie class of runners. Following four serviceable seasons with the Steelers, Harris was signed by the Chargers, where he was expected to split time with rookie Omarion Hampton, until a Fourth of July fireworks accident raised questions about whether his career might be over. He was ultimately able to return to the field for the start of the 2025 season, but after limited offseason conditioning, he tore his Achilles in Week 3, ending his Chargers career after only 15 carries. All reports suggest that his recovery has gone well, and while his fantasy heyday is likely behind him, in the right landing spot, he could still carve out just enough of a role to siphon touches from a team's lead back. Harris recently visited with the Raiders, where new head coach Klint Kubiak has a history of dividing the workload amongst his running backs and has already expressed an interest in continuing that approach in Vegas, despite the jarring lack of depth currently behind Ashton Jeanty.

Najee Harris to Meet With Raiders Next Thursday

Free-agent running back Najee Harris (Achilles) is scheduled to meet with the Las Vegas Raiders next Thursday, sources told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. The former Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers RB visited with the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday as he looks for his new home. The 28-year-old former 24th overall pick by the Steelers in 2021 out of Alabama began his NFL career with four straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons in the Steel City. He signed with the Chargers as a free agent last offseason, but he only appeared in three games for the Bolts in 2025 before suffering a season-ending torn Achilles tendon. Harris probably isn't an option to re-sign in L.A. after the Chargers picked up former Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell to give them depth behind Omarion Hampton. If Harris were to sign with Vegas, he'd be the clear backup to second-year back Ashton Jeanty and would merely be a handcuff option in fantasy football leagues.
