Patrick Ricard Dealing With Soft-Tissue Injury

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that fullback Patrick Ricard (soft tissue) is dealing with a "soft tissue thing" but should be able to return to practice before Week 1. Ricard has played in all 17 games for Baltimore in each of the last three regular seasons. While he's not a fantasy-relevant player himself, Ricard is a five-time Pro Bowler who plays an important role as a blocker in Baltimore's jumbo packages. If Ricard were to miss any time, it could negatively impact the rushing efficiency for Ravens running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Patrick Ricard Scores First Touchdown Of The Season

Baltimore Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard found the end zone for the first time this season in the 41-10 win over the Denver Broncos. Ricard scored on his lone target of the day which he caught for three yards. The four-time pro bowler is good for one of these receiving touchdowns per year when he slips out into a flat and finds himself wide open. Ricard and the Ravens will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in another AFC North matchup in Week 10.

Patrick Ricard Could Have Reduced Role In Offense

The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec thinks Baltimore Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard will be on the team this year, but he'll likely be on the field a lot less than 2022, when he played almost 65 percent of the offensive snaps in offensive coordinator Greg Roman's scheme. General manager Eric DeCosta and head coach John Harbaugh value Ricard, but he probably won't have as much of a fit in new offensive coordinator Todd Monken's system. Baltimore doesn't currently have a blocking tight end on the roster, so perhaps the 29-year-old can fill in nicely there. Ricard had offseason hip surgery and didn't take part in offseason practices, but he's expected to be ready for training camp this summer. Ricard is not on the fantasy radar whatsoever, but he can do a lot, from lead blocking to lining up as a TE to catching balls out of the backfield.

Ravens Re-Sign Patrick Ricard

The Baltimore Ravens agreed to an undisclosed three-year deal with free-agent fullback Patrick Ricard on Monday. Ricard should become the second highest-paid fullback in the league behind only Kyle Juszczyk. The 27-year-old is back in Baltimore after making the Pro Bowl each of the last three seasons. In his five years with the Ravens, he has only 29 receptions on 40 targets for 167 yards and five touchdowns, adding three carries for three yards in 70 games (29 starts). Ricard was the most-used fullback in the NFL last season and gives Baltimore's running attack a big boost. However, he's not relevant at all in fantasy, although his involvement in the offense has slowly increased.
