Giants, Jameis Winston Finalizing A Two-Year Deal

The New York Giants and free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston are finalizing a two-year, $8 million deal on Friday that could be worth up to $16 million with incentives, multiple sources told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Winston now joins Tommy DeVito as the only quarterbacks on the Giants roster, but the G-Men are still fully expected to sign another veteran QB -- either Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson -- while also possibly taking a rookie QB with the third overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft. The 31-year-old Winston, the former first overall pick out of Florida State by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015, famously led the league with 5,109 passing yards and also 30 interceptions in 2019 with the Bucs. He ended up playing in 12 games (seven starts) for the Browns in 2024 after Deshaun Watson's (Achilles) season-ending injury but was eventually benched after throwing 13 TDs and 12 picks. If Winston is starting in 2025, he'll be a turnover-prone, low-end QB2 in superflex leagues.

Jameis Winston Meeting With NYG

Per NFL media, free agent quarterback Jameis Winston is scheduled to meet with the New York Giants on Tuesday. New York is still searching for their next quarterback, and though a pending offer is out there for ex-New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers, they've continued to leave no stone unturned. Winston spent last season with the Cleveland Browns, appearing in 12 games (six starts), amassing 2,121 passing yards and a 13:12 TD:INT ratio. If we know one thing about the 31-year-old, he loves to sling the rock, routinely mixing in superb and questionable throws throughout his ten seasons. A former first-overall pick, the Florida State product is unlikely to be a long-term solution for the G-Men if he signs there. Still, New York currently holds quarterback Tommy DeVito on their roster and no other option at signal-caller. Winston's presence would be a boost for second-year wideout Malik Nabers. However, due to his lack of consistency, the veteran would not be a recommended fantasy option in drafts.

Jameis Winston To Visit With Giants On Tuesday

Free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston is scheduled to visit with the New York Giants on Tuesday, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Giants are waiting for a decision from future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, but in the meantime, they are taking visits with Winston, Joe Flacco and Russell Wilson as fallback options. Even if the G-Men land Rodgers in free agency, it wouldn't be a surprise to see them take a rookie signal-caller at No. 3 overall in the upcoming NFL draft -- or even trade up to No. 1 overall for a young QB. The 31-year-old Winston, the former first overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 out of Florida State, initially gave the Cleveland Browns' offense a spark in 2024 after the season-ending injury to Deshaun Watson (Achilles). However, he was ultimately benched late in the year and remains a turnover machine.

49ers, Chargers In Talks With Jameis Winston

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers have been in talks with Cleveland Browns impending free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston for potential backup roles, a league source told Josina Anderson. Another team to watch could be the New York Giants, depending on how their talks with other signal-callers go. The 31-year-old former first overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 out of Florida State played in 12 games (seven starts) for the Browns after Deshaun Watson went down with a torn Achilles last year. He initially gave the Browns offense a spark but ended up committing 14 turnovers in 12 games and was eventually benched in a lost season. Even with Watson unlikely to play in 2025, Winston isn't expected to return to Cleveland. The turnover-prone gunslinger would back up Justin Herbert in L.A. and Brock Purdy in San Francisco.

Jameis Winston Says He'd Play For Giants

During Super Bowl LIX Opening Night on Monday, Cleveland Browns impending free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston said he'd be willing to play for the New York Giants. "Would I really sign with the Giants? Absolutely!" Winston said. "I want to keep playing and do what I do best. I think we have a young woah! They have a young roster. But they have a young roster that's ready to win. They're ready to bounce back. I know they're hungry over there." The G-Men went 3-14 in 2024 and don't currently have a QB on their roster. They could take a signal-caller with the third overall pick in the 2025 draft, but Winston could represent the perfect bridge QB next season. The 31-year-old Winston initially provided a spark to the Browns' offense last year when Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending Achilles tear, and he eventually finished with 2,121 passing yards, 13 TDs and 12 interceptions before being benched.

Jameis Winston Inactive For Week 18, Serving As Emergency Quarterback

According to Kelsey Russo of the Browns, quarterback Jameis Winston (shoulder) is inactive for Saturday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. He will operate as the No.3, emergency quarterback. Winston came into this game logging three limited practice sessions and carrying a questionable tag. Winston has not been on the field since their Week 15 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. Over his past seven games, Winston posted a 12:12 TD:INT ratio while averaging 291.1 passing yards per game. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Bailey Zappe to get the starting nod but No.2 option Dorian Thompson-Robinson should be in line to see some opportunities. Both quarterbacks should be faded in all fantasy competitions.

Jameis Winston Considered Questionable Against Ravens

Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston (shoulder) received a questionable tag for the season finale against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. The team is already expected to start Bailey Zappe, their fourth starting quarterback of the season. Winston led the Browns to two of their three wins this season including one over the Ravens in Week 8. If he's able to suit up, he'll likely be relegated to emergency QB while Dorian Thompson-Robinson would play the backup role.

Jameis Winston Likely To Be Emergency Third QB In Week 18

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that he's going to work through the team's quarterback situation this week as they head into the Week 18 regular-season finale against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens. There's a chance that both Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Bailey Zappe could play this Saturday. Veteran Jameis Winston (shoulder) is likely to be the emergency third QB for the third straight week as he battles through a shoulder injury. The 30-year-old Winston gave the Browns offense an initial spark when he took over for Deshaun Watson (Achilles) midway through the year, but his turnover issues became too much and he was benched in Week 15 in favor of Thompson-Robinson. DTR hasn't looked very great in his two starts under center, but the Browns have to play out the string. None of the three QBs figure to be the answer for Cleveland going forward into 2025.

Jameis Winston To Be Browns' Emergency QB

Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston (shoulder) is expected to be listed among the team's inactives on Sunday but serve as the emergency quarterback, according to Ian Rapoport. Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start the game at quarterback for Cleveland, while Bailey Zappe will serve as the backup. Winston will suit up for the game, but won't count against the team's 53-man roster. For fantasy purposes, the Browns' quarterback changes represent a clear downgrade for receivers Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore in the matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Jameis Winston Questionable For Backup Role In Week 17

Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston (shoulder) is listed as questionable to be active for the Week 17 contest this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Winston was inactive as the team's emergency third QB for the Week 16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Dorian Thompson-Robinson got his first start of the season, with Bailey Zappe backing him up. Thompson-Robinson has already been announced as the starter again this weekend, and Zappe could serve as the backup for a second straight week if Winston is ruled out on Sunday. The 30-year-old Winston initially gave Cleveland's offense a spark when Deshaun Watson (Achilles) went down with a season-ending injury, but in the end, his turnover-prone ways led to his benching and the Browns looking towards the future as they evaluate DTR. Barring an injury to Thompson-Robinson, Winston has likely played his last snap with the team.
