Jameis Winston News

Jameis Winston Has Impressive Career Numbers

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston became the eighth quarterback in league history to pass for 5,000 yards in a single season with the Buccaneers in 2019. Winston, 26, has thrown for the second-most passing yards of any NFL QB through five seasons, trailing only Peyton Manning. He has more touchdowns (121) through his first five seasons than Brett Favre (108), Kurt Warner (101), Tom Brady (87) and Brees (80). But he was also the first signal-caller with 30 TDs and 30 interceptions in a single season. Winston can play at an All-Star level at times, but his turnovers and questionable decision-making are what have killed him. His 111 turnovers are the most in the league since 2015, but his 88 interceptions are fewer than the 100 picks that Manning threw over his first five seasons. The Saints may have a steal on their hands if he ends up taking over for Brees when he retires. And if Winston sees playing time in 2020 if Brees is injured, he'll definitely have immediate fantasy appeal with QB1 upside. Prior to last season, Winston had never thrown 20 interceptions in a single season.

Jameis Winston Says Career Is Far From Finished

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston insists that his career isn't over after parting ways with Tampa Bay in the offseason. Winston will get a fresh start as a backup in New Orleans after becoming just the 12th signal-caller to throw at least 30 interceptions in a season in 2019. It's a chance for the 26-year-old to learn from one of the best quarterback-coach duos in the league in Drew Brees and Sean Payton, as Teddy Bridgewater did in the backup role en route to a payday this offseason in Carolina. If Winston can make the most of any opportunities that arise and limit his turnovers, perhaps he will make a prophet of himself.

Jameis Winston Claims Eyesight Has Improved After LASIK

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston claims to have great vision after getting LASIK eye surgery in February. In a quote from Winston tweeted by the Athletic's Greg Auman, the QB claims his vision has sharpened and his blurriness has been reduced. In a twist, Winston compared the situation to being able to read the license plates of cars. With his eyesight improved, the QB hopes to use the new sharpness to be a more accurate passer and cut down on the high number of picks he has thrown in his career. Through five seasons in the NFL, the Florida State product has 121 touchdowns and 88 interceptions.
