The Cleveland Browns signed running back Brian Hill to their practice squad on Tuesday after they placed running backs Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. John Kelly also landed on the COVID-19 list on Monday, so with Kareem Hunt (calf) still on Injured Reserve, D'Ernest Johnson is the only RB on the current active roster. The Browns also signed safety Nate Meadors and wide receiver Isaiah Zuber to their practice squad. Hill, 26, had 465 rushing yards and one touchdown in 16 games for the Atlanta Falcons last year and will provide much-needed depth in Cleveland's backfield if none of Chubb, Felton or Kelly can get cleared in time for Week 10 against the New England Patriots.
Bears Bring In Chris Thompson, Brian Hill For Workouts
The Chicago Bears worked out veteran running backs Chris Thompson, Wendell Smallwood and Brian Hill on Tuesday. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that this just looks as if the Bears are updating their free agent list. Starting running back David Montgomery has been off to a nice start this season and veteran Damien Williams has cemented himself as the clear No. 2 back with Tarik Cohen (knee) on the PUP list. Thompson suited up for the Jaguars this past season, but only played eight games and landed on Injured Reserve with a back injury. Hill spent his training camp with the Tennessee Titans, but was released with an injury settlement and spent last season with the Falcons as the backup to Todd Gurley. Smallwood has spent the bulk of his five-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles and played in one game this past season for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even if any of the veterans are signed by the Bears, all can be avoided in all formats.
Tennessee Titans running back Brian Hill (undisclosed) landed on the injured reserve on Sunday. It's unknown why he currently occupies space on the IR. However, it's apparently significant enough to keep him on the shelf moving ahead. The 25-year-old played in 16 games last season as a member of the Atlanta Falcons, finishing with 465 yards and a touchdown off 100 touches. He also added 25 catches for 199 yards. Hill likely won't do much this season, especially with Derrick Henry and Darrynton Evans in the mix, so it's best he remains undrafted in all formats. Still, that could always change if either man were to get hurt at some point during the year.
Tennessee Titans running back Brian Hill rushed for 63 yards on 14 attempts and caught two of three targets for 19 yards in Saturday's 27-23 preseason loss to the Chicago Bears. He led the Titans in rushing on Saturday and competed with Mekhi Sargent and Javian Hawkins for a spot on the running back depth chart. Sargent got the start and led the Titans in rushing this preseason. He rushed for 51 yards on 17 attempts and a touchdown on Saturday. Hawkins, who recently signed with the Titans, rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown while hauling in one reception for seven yards. Darrynton Evans (knee) is expected to be the Titans RB2 behind superstar Derrick Henry when he returns. Hill, Sargent, and Hawkins are all competing for the No.3 spot and would only be fantasy relevant if Henry were to miss any games.
The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms on undisclosed deals with running back Brian Hill, linebacker Justin March-Lillard and defensive back Greg Maybin on Thursday. The team also released cornerback Kareem Orr. Hill will compete with Darrynton Evans for the No. 2 role behind workhorse Derrick Henry in 2021. The 25-year-old carried the ball 100 times for 465 yards and a touchdown last season while also grabbing 25 receptions for 199 additional yards. In his four-year career, Hill has 209 carries for 982 yards (4.7 yards per carry) and three touchdowns, adding 38 receptions for 313 yards and another score in 45 games (three starts). Unless Henry misses time with an injury this season, Hill is likely to be left to the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues.
Atlanta Falcons running back Brian Hill finished with 13 carries for 55 yards in Week 12. Todd Gurley II was ruled out of the game beforehand with a knee injury, meaning Hill and Ito Smith split the work out of the backfield. Hill had 13 carries while Smith had 12. If Gurley returns next week, Hill would have zero fantasy relevance. Even if Gurley cannot go, Hill is still quite a risky choice considering he and Smith split the carries in Week 12 and that cuts into the potential for more production.
Atlanta Falcons running back Brian Hill finished with 11 carries for 55 yards and two receptions for nine yards on Thursday. It was the RB2 of the team who surprisingly led in rush yards, but this was a rare occurrence. Hill doesn't see enough weekly touches to merit good fantasy value going forward.
Atlanta Falcons running back Brian Hill looked impressive despite his team's gut-wrenching, 30-26 loss in Week 3. Hill saw a season-high 10 touches and looked explosive, hauling in a 22-yard reception and ripping off a 35-yard touchdown run, en route to 80 scrimmage yards. Unfortunately, Hill is the backup unless Todd Gurley II gets hurt. However, it's clear that Atlanta views him as the primary backup to Gurley II, so Hill could have great fantasy value if something were to actually happen to the former Ram. Hill could be a nice waiver wire pickup for anyone who has Gurley II rostered, if they can afford to hang onto him.
Atlanta Falcons running back Brian Hill appears to be the clear No. 2 behind Todd Gurley II in training camp. If Gurley struggles or deals with health issues in his first year in Atlanta, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Hill enjoy some lead-back moments. The 24-year-old had 78 carries for 323 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games for the Falcons last year. Because of Gurley's well-documented lower-body issues in recent seasons and the fact that he'll play half his games on turf, Hill is a worthwhile investment late in deeper leagues, at least as a handcuff if you take the plunge on Gurley.
Atlanta Falcons restricted free-agent running back Brian Hill signed his original-round tender on Saturday. Hill will make $2.144 million in 2020, but he's pushed further down the depth chart with Todd Gurley now in town. The former fifth-round pick in 2017 had 78 rushing attempts for 323 yards (4.1 yards per carry) and two touchdowns, while also adding 10 receptions for 69 yards and another TD through the air. The 24-year-old is unlikely to see many touches or be of much fantasy use behind Gurley, Ito Smith and even possibly Qadree Ollison.
