Cedrick Wilson Jr. News
Wide receiver Cedrick Wilson has agreed to a three-year, $22.8 million deal with the Dolphins. The 27-year-old had his best year statistically in 2021, finishing with 602 yards and six touchdowns off 45 catches. He battled CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup at times for looks from Dak Prescott. However, in his new home in Miami, Wilson may potentially earn a spot as the No. 2 option on the depth chart while surpassing his totals from last season. Yet, he will need Tua Tagovailoa to progress in his development because if he doesn't, Wilson's ceiling will be significantly lower.
The Dallas Cowboys want to re-sign impending free-agent wide receiver Cedrick Wilson. The Cowboys are expected to trade or release Amari Cooper, who was slated to make $20 million in 2022. With those savings, the Cowboys plan to re-sign both Wilson and Michael Gallup. They could also go after another pass-catcher in the draft or through free agency, but CeeDee Lamb should enter next season as Dallas' unquestioned No. 1 receiver. Wilson took a leap forward in his third NFL season, posting career-highs in catches (45), targets (61), receiving yards (602) and touchdowns (six) in 16 regular season games. The 26-year-old should be more appealing in 2022 with Cooper out of the picture, but it also depends on what other names the Cowboys add at the position.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Cedrick Wilson played a bigger role than expected in a Week 17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. After Michael Gallup (knee) was forced to leave the game with what is being reported as a torn ACL, Wilson became an almost every-down player. He ended up being targeted six times, catching all six for 35 yards and a touchdown. He also completed a pass on his only attempt for a 31 yard gain. Wilson tied for the team lead in catches with his six despite not starting the game any higher than fourth on the wide receiver depth chart. He should maintain a key role on offense going forward, but will still be behind CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper, limiting his upside and giving him a low floor.
