D.J. Humphries Ruled Out For Week 17

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Kansas City Chiefs have ruled out left tackle D.J. Humphries (hamstring) for Wednesday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Humphries will now miss his third-straight contest due to a left hamstring strain. This week he was unable to practice and may face an uphill battle to return in Week 18 against the Denver Broncos. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Joe Thuney to get the starting nod at left tackle once again. He will have a tall task ahead of him on Wednesday facing a Pittsburgh Steelers pass rush that has sacked opposing QBs 36 times this season.

D.J. Humphries Signing With Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a deal with free-agent offensive tackle D.J. Humphries on Friday. Humphries was medically cleared this week from a torn ACL that he suffered last season. Humphries is a 10-year veteran who most recently played with the Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs have decided to bolster their roster ahead of the playoffs by bringing in Humphries. It appears to a be a one-year deal worth $4.5 million, including $2 million in guaranteed money. Humphries won't be ready to play in Week 12, but this is more of a move to boost their roster for the postseason.

Giants Hosting Offensive Tackle D.J. Humphries On Tuesday

The New York Giants are working out free-agent offensive tackle D.J. Humphries on Tuesday, according to NFL.com. The former first-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2015 started 98 games over the last eight seasons for the organization but was let go this offseason. The Giants are without star left tackle Andrew Thomas (foot) indefinitely due to a foot injury. After Daniel Jones was sacked eight times in the Week 7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team is doing whatever it can to make improvements along the offensive line quickly.

Cardinals Release D.J. Humphries

The Arizona Cardinals released left tackle D.J. Humphries (knee) on Wednesday after he spent nine seasons with the team. Humphries tore his ACL against the Philadelphia Eagles on New Year's Eve and certainly won't be ready for the start of the 2024 campaign this fall. The former first-round pick (24th overall) in 2015 out of Florida was set to carry a $22.9 million salary cap number this year, so the Cardinals decided to move on. He started all 98 games in which he appeared for the Cardinals after missing all of his rookie season. Injuries have been a big part of Humphries' career in the NFL, though, and his latest knee injury puts his future in doubt as a free agent. Cutting Humphries will save around $9 million in cap space in 2024 while the team takes on $13 million in dead-cap space.

D.J. Humphries A Cut Candidate

Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle D.J. Humphries (knee) has been an anchor for the team's offensive line since he entered the league in 2016. He's been a team captain and a respected voice in the locker room. However, he just turned 30 years old and he's likely to miss most of the 2024 season while recovering from surgery on his ACL. Humphries will have a $22.9 million salary cap number this year, and cutting him would save the Cardinals around $9 million. General manager Monti Ossenfort has more work to do with the team's offensive line this season, even though they exceeded expectations in 2023. If the team moves on from Humphries, Paris Johnson Jr., who had an impressive rookie season at right tackle, could move over to the left side to protect quarterback Kyler Murray's blind side.

D.J. Humphries Has Torn ACL

Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle D.J. Humphries (knee) suffered a torn ACL in the team's Week 17 upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles. It's a tough blow for the veteran and the team with just one week remaining in the regular season. The 2015 first-round selection out of the University of Florida has started 98 games for the organization and has been an above-average tackle for most of his career. The team has a potential out in his contract after this season, and the injury could play a factor in that decision. Kelvin Beachum will be in charge of protecting Kyler Murray's blindside against Seattle in Week 18.

D.J. Humphries Gets Three-Year Extension

Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle D.J. Humphries has received a three-year extension from the organization. The 28-year-old was heading into the final year of his contract, but that changed quickly. Now, Humphries will remain with the Cardinals after signing a three-year deal worth $66.8 million. The former first round pick has been a reliable option at left tackle over the last three seasons. Before that, Humphries dealt with injury issues, but has seemingly put those behind him. He appears committed to finishing his career with the Cardinals.

D.J. Humphries Receives Three-Year Deal From Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals agreed with left tackle D.J. Humphries on a three-year, $45 million deal on Monday, according to sources. Humphries will make $30 million over the first two years, and the deal includes $29 million guaranteed. The 26-year-old played in a full season in 2019 for the first time since going 24th overall in the first round in 2015. Humphries isn't the most talented left tackle in the league, but he'll bring stability at the position and help protect quarterback Kyler Murray's blind side moving forward.

D.J. Humphries, Ifeanyi Momah Out For The Year

Arizona Cardinals tackle D.J. Humphries (knee) and tight end Ifeanyi Momah (leg) are both expected to miss the rest of the year after suffering injuries in the Week 10 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday. Humphries dislocated his knee cap and will be put on Injured Reserve. He's expected to need around three months to recover. Momah will miss the rest of the year with a broken leg. Humprhies' loss could be significant for the production of running back Adrian Peterson, while Momah's loss hurts Arizona's tight end depth behind Jermaine Gresham.

Tyvon Branch and D.J. Humphries Injured Against Seahawks

Arizona Cardinals safety Tyvon Branch and offensive lineman D.J. Humphries suffered injuries to the knee and ACL, respectively, in the Week 10 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday. This is a blow to the Cardinals D/ST unit as a whole as well as the team's offensive rhythm, as a weakened offensive line and key part of the secondary are sure to limit the team's capabilities on both sides of the ball. Branch was a decent IDP but won't be available after the injury and the value of Adrian Peterson should take a small hit as well.
