Damon Arnette Arrested, Released From Futures Deal

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Damon Arnette was released Saturday after having been arrested Friday night on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The Chiefs added the former first-round pick to the organization on a futures deal, hoping that he could contribute come the 2022 season; a zero-tolerance policy was reportedly added to the deal, which led to Arnette's release. Arnette appeared in four games this season with the Raiders before he was released after posting a threatening video on social media. Chosen with the 19th overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, Arnette now finds himself a free agent.

Dolphins Bring In Damon Arnette

The Miami Dolphins have signed defensive back Damon Arnette to their practice squad. He was a 2020 first round selection by the Las Vegas Raiders. Although, he was cut by the organization after multiple off-field incidents. He failed to make much of an impact during his season and a half with the Raiders. Arnette did practice with Miami on Wednesday, so maybe they can turn him around. It's uncertain if he'll take the field for them this season, but appears to be quality depth, assuming he can figure things out.

Raiders Release Damon Arnette Monday

The Las Vegas Raiders released former first-round cornerback Damon Arnette on Monday, according to a source. Arnette was the team's 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 draft. Just a year later, the Raiders no longer have either of their first-round selections from 2020 (Arnette and wide receiver Henry Ruggs III) on their roster. Arnette, 25, landed on Injured Reserve after suffering a groin injury against the Los Angeles Chargers. In 13 games (seven starts) for the Raiders, he had only 29 tackles (23 solo) and three passes defensed. It's safe to say the Raiders 2020 draft will go down as a colossal disaster. Of their first four picks in that draft, only receiver Bryan Edwards is on the current roster.

Damon Arnette, Trayvon Mullen Ruled Out Monday

Las Vegas Raiders defensive backs Damon Arnette (groin) and Trayvon Mullen (foot) have been ruled out on Monday night against the Los Angeles Chargers after getting injured during the game. Mullen came into this game as the starter opposite Casey Hayward and has been playing really well to begin the year. Arnette, who was a first-round pick last year, came in to replace Mullen on the outside. So the Raiders will have to move to Amik Robertson, a fourth-round pick in 2020, into the starting lineup in the second half. The Raiders are currently mounting a combeback, but Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is likely to attack that side of the field at some point. The injuries to Vegas' secondary are certainly something to watch after this game as well.

Raiders Place Damon Arnette On COVID-19 List

The Las Vegas Raiders are placing rookie cornerback Damon Arnette on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday, according to a source. No other Raiders players or personnel have tested positive, and Maurice Hurst, the lone player previously on the COVID-19 list, has been cleared to return to practice this week. Arnette, a first-round pick, was already on Injured Reserve after he had thumb surgery. The 24-year-old is expected to miss six to eight weeks after having surgery when he aggravated his thumb ailment in the Week 3 loss to the Patriots. Lamarcus Joyner should continue to see an expanded role in the secondary with Arnette out.

Damon Arnette Has Thumb Surgery, Out 6-8 Weeks

Per his Instagram account, Las Vegas Raiders first-round rookie cornerback Damon Arnette (thumb) underwent surgery on his thumb on Thursday. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Arnette should be out for six to eight weeks. The rookie corner suffered the injury in the Week 3 loss to the Patriots after also fracturing the same thumb in training camp. There's still a chance that Arnette can return this season, but it will depend on how his recovery goes. The 24-year-old is a bright spot for Las Vegas' secondary, so his absence will be felt. Arnette had a combined 13 tackles (11 solo) and one pass defensed in his three games before aggravating his thumb injury. The Raiders defense should continue to be ignored in fantasy for their Week 4 matchup with the Bills.

Raiders Defense Could Lose Damon Arnette For Six Weeks

Las Vegas Raiders rookie cornerback Damon Arnette (thumb) is visiting a thumb specialist on Tuesday after he injured it in the Week 3 loss to the Patriots, and he could be sidelined up to six weeks. In a worst-case scenario, Arnette would be placed on Injured Reserve. The first-round pick fractured the same thumb in training camp, so this is certainly something to watch moving forward. Either way, Arnette should be able to return this year for the Raiders secondary. The 24-year-old has been improving and has tallied 14 tackles (11 solo) and one pass defensed in the first three games of his NFL career.

Damon Arnette Battles Thumb Fracture Ahead Of Week 1

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette has excelled so much during training camp that the organization felt confident moving on from veteran Prince Amukamara. But as of Wednesday, it was revealed that Arnette is dealing with a fractured thumb, which has him in a soft cast with 11 days until the teams season opener. Should Arnette be forced to miss time, Lamarcus Joyner would presumably fill his spot, although there has been no indication that the Raiders would be without their first-round pick when they take on the Panthers. The Las Vegas defense already sat on the periphery of season-long drafts, with Arnettes malady only further complicating its status.

Damon Arnette Trending Up As A Starter

Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette, who was a surprising first-round selection at 19th overall, is reportedly winning the fight to start over Prince Amukamara opposite Trayvon Mullen to open the 2020 season. Arnette was a four-year player for Ohio State and has good ball skills in the secondary. He's a good athlete but can get burned by his aggressiveness in jumping routes. Like Arnette, the Raiders defense isn't a standout by any means but has some young potential. You can leave Las Vegas' defense off your fantasy cheat sheets, but they could become more interesting by season's end.

Raiders Go With Damon Arnette At No. 19 In First Round

The Las Vegas Raiders selected Ohio State cornerback Damon Arnette with the No. 19 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Thursday. Arnette was a second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2019. ESPN's Mel Kiper gave him an early second-round grade, and Arnette becomes the third cornerback to come off the board in this year's draft. The Raiders might be reaching a bit with this pick, but Las Vegas seriously needs to do a better job covering opposing wide receivers, especially in a division with plenty of offensive firepower. Arnette held his own across from Jeff Okudah at Ohio State, and he plays very well at the line in press coverage. He's a good cover corner that could develop with the proper coaching from Jon Gruden and his defensive coaches.
