Just a day after releasing running back Roc Thomas, the Minnesota Vikings have claimed running back De'Angelo Henderson off waivers from the Jets. Henderson could find his way into a role behind Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison, and being Minnesota's third-string back might be the best-case scenario for the third-year back. He's not fantasy relevant at this point, but Cook's dealt with injury issues in the past, making Henderson an intriguing deep league option if Cook misses time. For now, though, don't look at him when your league drafts.
The New York Jets have waived running back De'Angelo Henderson. After adding Le'Veon Bell and Ty Montgomery in the offseason, Henderson was always a long shot to make the team's final roster, so cutting him now allows him time to latch on somewhere else. The problem is that while Henderson was a popular dynasty sleeper pick two years ago, he's now had just 11 total touches through two seasons with two different teams. Henderson doesn't look like a guy who'll be able to earn significant snaps on a team in 2019.
The New York Jets signed running back De'Angelo Henderson from the practice squad to the active roster on Saturday with Bilal Powell (neck) out for the rest of the season. Cornerback Juston Burris was released in a corresponding move. Henderson was a sixth-round pick of the Broncos last year and had just seven carries for 13 yards and caught two passes for 36 yards and a touchdown in five games. Until Elijah McGuire (foot) returns from the Physically Unable to Perform list, Henderson will serve as depth behind Isaiah Crowell and rookie Trenton Cannon.
The New York Jets signed running back De'Angelo Henderson to their practice squad on Sunday. He joins S Brandon Bryant, WR Deontay Burnett and OLB Frankie Luvu, with six spots still open on the squad. Henderson and Burnett are the most notable. The former Denver Broncos running back is just 25 years old, and he appeared in five games in the 2017 season. While he managed just 13 yards on seven attempts, he did post a highlight-reel 29-yard touchdown catch and run against the Kansas City Chiefs last December. The Jets aren't terribly deep at the running back position, so perhaps Henderson gets a look at some point in 2018.
We officially live in a world where Denver Broncos quarterbackPaxton Lynch makes a 53-man roster over an eternally more promising running backDe'Angelo Henderson - as the latter missed the cut Saturday. Henderson, a second-year back out of Coastal Carolina, looked special at times with the ball in his hands. Many even favored him over the incumbent Devontae Booker. All of which simply adds to the concern over how Denver is handling this backfield. RookieRoyce Freeman is clearly the most talented, but holding onto Booker can easily be interpreted as support of the love affair with Booker. It'll be interesting to see how the situation plays itself out once the regular season kicks off. Denver faces one of the more RB-friendly schedules this season and will host a Seattle team in Week 1 which allowed 114 rushing yards per game in 2017.
Denver Broncos running back De'Angelo Henderson may not make the final roster, and he's already generating interest from other teams if he becomes available on Saturday. He may lose out to Devontae Booker, Royce Freeman, Phillip Lindsay and Andy Janovich. Henderson had just seven carries for 13 yards in five games in his rookie season. Booker might be the de facto starter in Week 1, but Freeman has the most upside and should eventually lead this backfield in touches by season's end.
Denver Broncos running back De'Angelo Henderson (oblique) was held out of organized team activities on Wednesday with a slight oblique strain. The injury doesn't seem serious, and the Broncos were likely being cautious with him. Expect Henderson to be fine for training camp in July. In his second season in Denver, he'll compete for touches alongside Devontae Booker and rookies Royce Freeman and David Williams. Henderson had just seven carries for 13 yards in five games in 2017.
De'Angelo Henderson Involved In Car Accident Over Weekend
Denver Broncos running back De'Angelo Henderson suffered "scrapes and bruises" in an automobile accident Saturday when his Jeep was one of several cars struck by a driver eluding police that had been stolen. Henderson was taken to the hospital, treated and then released. The 2017 sixth-rounder was at the team's complex Monday for offseason workouts and isn't expected to miss organized team activities later this month. Henderson had just seven carries for 13 yards in his rookie season, but he'll compete with rookies Royce Freeman and David Williams for work behind Devontae Booker this season.
Denver Broncos running back De'Angelo Henderson had his most productive game of the 2017 season in Week 17. He rushed five times for 15 yards and caught one pass that went for a 29-yard touchdown. Before Sunday, he had two rushes for negative two yards to go with one catch for seven yards for the entire season. He is a talented rookie they wanted to take a look at since their season was going to end regardless of the outcome. He could be an interesting guy in extremely deep long-term leagues.
Jamaal Charles, De'Angelo Henderson Among Broncos Mass Of Running Backs
Denver Broncos running backs Jamaal Charles and De'Angelo Henderson are among the depth at the position for the Broncos. Charles is not sure when he will be able to play in a preseason game but expects to play in one before the season. Henderson has been impressive and seems likely to have a role in the regular season. CJ Anderson is still the main running back but the combination of Charles and Henderson add a speed element that will definitely eat into the workload.
