DeVante Parker News
The New England Patriots acquired wide receiver DeVante Parker and a 2022 fifth-round pick from the Miami Dolphins on Saturday in exchange for a 2023 third-round pick, according to sources. The move comes after the Dolphins pulled off a blockbuster trade for All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill last week. Parker, who was a first-round pick in 2015, has two years left on a deal after he signed a three-year contract in 2019. Parker had only 40 catches for 515 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games in an injury riddled 2021 season. But the 29-year-old broke out in 2019 with 72 receptions, 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns with Miami and should have a more significant offensive role with the Pats. The addition of Parker is bad news for Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor, Jakobi Meyers and N'Keal Harry, who is a candidate to be traded himself.
Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier expects wide receiver DeVante Parker to be with the team in 2022, but the Dolphins are receiving calls on him and will listen to trade offers. Miami now has a surplus of receiving talent after pulling off a blockbuster trade for All-Pro pass-catcher Tyreek Hill last week. The team also added Cedrick Wilson in free agency. The Philadelphia Eagles have already been linked to Parker, who will probably have more fantasy value elsewhere at this point. Parker played in only 10 games due to injury last year and caught 40 of 73 targets for 515 yards and two touchdowns. If the 29-year-old remains in Miami, he'll be battling for the No. 3 role with Wilson.
Several teams have shown interest in Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker, with the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly among them. If Parker remains with the team, he's projected to serve as the No. 3 wideout behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The Eagles signed Zach Pascal in free agency, but they could use more receiver help for quarterback Jalen Hurts. Parker has an $8.7 million salary cap hit in 2022 after posting 40 catches for 515 yards and two touchdowns on 73 targets in 10 games (eight starts) last season. Injuries limited the 29-year-old, who has one 1,000-yard campaign in his seven seasons in Miami. At this point, Parker's best path to fantasy relevance would be a change of scenery.
