DeVante Parker Calls It Quits

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVante Parker announced his retirement on Monday evening. The 31-year-old, who signed with the Eagles in March, was once one of the NFL's most promising wideouts. He spent most of his career in Miami, where he had the best season of his career in 2019 by amassing 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns off 72 receptions. Parker spent a few more years in Miami before suiting up for the Patriots over the last two seasons. However, he was nowhere near as productive as he was in 2019, so New England released him. The 31-year-old will finish his NFL career by totaling 690 catches for 5,660 yards and 27 touchdowns.

DeVante Parker Agrees To One-Year Deal With Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are signing veteran wide receiver DeVante Parker to a one-year, $4.96 fully guaranteed deal. Philly will pay just $1.2 million, and New England will cover the rest. Parker was released by the Patriots this week after two seasons with the organization. Since being selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft, Parker has posted just one season of at least 1,000 receiving yards. He has failed to post at least 700 yards in six of his nine NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins and Patriots. In Philadelphia behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Parker is unlikely to be on the fantasy radar, barring injury.

Patriots Releasing DeVante Parker

The New England Patriots informed wide receiver DeVante Parker that they are releasing him on Wednesday at the start of the new league year, and he has now been given permission to talk to other teams, according to his agent, Jimmy Gould. The Patriots still have JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kendrick Bourne and Demario Douglas as their starting wideouts, but expect them to look to add receiving help in free agency and the draft. Parker, 31, had a 1,000-yard campaign (his only in the NFL) and a career-high nine touchdowns with the Miami Dolphins in 2019, but has disappointed since and caught 64 of his 102 targets for 933 yards and only three touchdowns in his two years in New England. The nine-year veteran can still offer a big-bodied downfield threat, but he's unlikely to become an interesting fantasy wideout, even though he's likely to land in a better situation in free agency.

DeVante Parker Catches Just One Pass In 2023 Finale

New England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker caught just one of four targets for six yards during Sunday's loss to the New York Jets. His offensive struggles were the product of steady snow and wind that impacted the unit as a whole. Parker finishes the 2023 campaign with 33 catches, 394 receiving yards, and zero touchdowns. The veteran is under contract with New England for next season, but they could choose to move on from him if the coaching staff or front office endure sweeping changes.

Tyquan Thornton Out, DeVante Parker Active

New England Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton (ankle) has officially been ruled out for the Week 18 regular season finale on Sunday against the New York Jets, while receivers DeVante Parker (ribs) and Matthew Slater (hamstring) will play. All three receivers were listed as questionable coming into this one. Thornton finishes his second season in the NFL with just 13 receptions for 91 yards and no touchdowns on 23 targets over nine games played. The 23-year-old second-rounder has been a bust so far, but New England's poor quarterback situation hasn't helped his development. Parker and rookie Demario Douglas should be New England's top targets to close out the year, but the matchup against a strong Jets secondary isn't the greatest for fantasy managers in single-year leagues and DFS contests.

DeVante Parker Tagged As Questionable For Week 18

New England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker (ribs) is listed as questionable for the upcoming Week 18 matchup against the New York Jets. The veteran wideout was limited throughout practice this week. It's looking like Parker could be a legitimate game-time decision for this weekend. If active, Parker doesn't offer much upside as he posted a disappointing season in 2023. At this point, there isn't anyone too reliable on this offense outside of Demario Douglas. The possible absence of Parker could mean increased looks for Douglas this weekend.

DeVante Parker Stays Limited Thursday

New England Patriots wide receivers DeVante Parker (ribs) and Matthew Slater (hamstring) had their practice repetitions limited for the second straight day on Thursday. Parker only played 15 offensive snaps and caught one pass for 15 yards before getting hurt in the Week 17 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The injury doesn't appear to be too serious, but Parker could end up questionable for Sunday's Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Jets. The 30-year-old doesn't have a great matchup in a meaningless game in an offense that leaves a lot to be desired. Parker's matchup isn't great on top of it. He had two catches for 19 yards in the previous meeting with the Jets in Week 3 and should be considered a low-cost DFS dart throw, at best. Parker has 388 yards in 12 games and no touchdowns.

DeVante Parker Has Reps Capped Wednesday

New England Patriots wide receivers DeVante Parker (ribs) and Matthew Slater (hamstring) were listed as limited participants in Wednesday's practice. Parker injured his ribs late in the Week 17 loss to the Buffalo Bills, but a limited session to begin the week means his injury isn't all that serious. The Patriots and Jets have nothing left to play for but draft positioning this year, but Parker figures to suit up this weekend unless he has a setback on Thursday or Friday. The 30-year-old former first-rounder was seeing increased involvement in his last four games (16 catches for 215 yards) before going for just one reception for 15 yards in last Sunday's loss to the Bills. Parker is a hard sell for fantasy managers in a shy-away matchup in Week 18, even with JuJu Smith-Schuster (ankle) on Injured Reserve.

DeVante Parker Questionable To Return In Week 17

New England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker (ribs) exited during the first half of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills and is officially questionable to return. At the time of his departure, he had caught one pass for 15 yards. The veteran wide receiver has emerged as a reliable, physical target in Bailey Zappe's offense, so losing him will be tough for the Patriots as they look to mount a comeback Sunday. Tyquan Thornton, Jalen Reagor, Mike Gesicki, and Pharaoh Brown should earn more snaps in Parker's absence.

DeVante Parker Remains In Line For Large Role

New England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker remains a key part of the passing attack ahead of Sunday's game versus the Buffalo Bills. Parker has played more than 90 percent of offensive snaps in each of his last two games, totaling nine catches and 109 yards during that span. He has carved out a key role alongside Demario Douglas and Hunter Henry (knee), both of whom are also among Bailey Zappe's top targets. Parker ranks as a low-end WR3 or FLEX play in deeper leagues, so while he's not an incredibly trustworthy option for the fantasy football championship, his volume at least warrants some consideration.
